Well I had to try and found a lightly pop server and i gotta say I liked it better than bf42 and way better than bfv. And I got my ole planetside handle so if you see applebutterforbrains give him a high five or a bullet to the brain (depending on which side your on). It dont sting, it a game right? Mumbles.

Anyone hates the interface for radio commands? I can't count the number of times I got killed while trying to radio for help :frown:

One thing for sure though, it's a lot better than BF:V.. but whether it is better than DC.. time will tell!

Seems to be pretty fun once I got used to it, haven't played BF1942 or DC for 6 or 7 months now. The net code leaves much to be desired. 3 of us were trying to play from one cable modem connection and all of us would get in to a server and then about 3 or 4 minutes later it would kick all but one of us out and not let 2 out of the 3 back in to the server! Sometimes we would get all the way through a round together! Tried various servers same issue but then 1 or 2 we wouldn't have that problem?

P.S. I would not pay $40-$50 bucks for it though.

I really like sprint.....double tab W.

Gulf Of Oman map is superb...hopefully the rest are as well.....doesn't benefit any one playstyle (sniping, vehicles, infantry)

I also like that players aren't made of glass. In BF1942 it was a shot or two and they were down. In BF2 you need to put 5 or 6 rounds in a guy before he falls.

I hate the "face up staring at the sky when you get killed" but I can see how it makes the game more realistic...i.e. use the death cam to spot your assailant for revenge.

Sound effects are freaking amazing.

I've played 10 rounds and have been top score 5 times. I love these games before the cheaters get to them cause I dominate.

You mention realism and also say '5 or 6 rounds in a guy before he falls' as if that's a good thing?

anyway, the demo runs much better than bfv ever did.

install the drivers ( make sure to use a driver cleaner on the unistall) - they work well
I agree about the 1280x1024 but it looks really good even at it's highest resolution and all setting set to medium - don't read this the wrong way i have a A64 3500+ and 6800gt to 425/1150

First off, I hate EA right off the bat. They always make you watch the company logos. How annoying. The graphics are glitchy. Shadows just pop out out of nowhere and are improperly displayed. The demo crashed once already.

The thing I really don't like is that you have to create an account online. And if you want to change your game name, tough. Invent an email. Only one name per account. Then there's the problem of what name am I creating. Is this the name for an account, or my game name. I don't know, so the first name I created wasn't my game name and then I was stuck with it. Really retarted.

The level sucks for airplanes as the level is too small. I ride for a bit and I'm already at the end of the map. The airplanes don't attack the ground with bombs it seems, or maybe I just don't know how to do that. They are more difficult to control than in BF1942, but not that bad. Haven't tried the helicopter yet though. The gameplay is pretty much the same from here on in. You have a weapon and you go through trying to capture the flag. So far, it makes me not want to buy it. It makes me want to go play UT2004.

I had no problem killing people. I actually found it MUCH better than 1942. And if you want the menu from playing on the internet, it takes 3 seconds to load. That sucks.

Install the 77.30 drivers, retard.

Also, whopdeedo if you don't like it. A lot of us do and we plan on buying and enjoying it in a few weeks.

Its typically EA stuff

Rush the game out while its full of bugs..

As for stuttering issues. Well, apparently, it doesn't like O/C video cards..For those with 6800GT O/C to Ultralevels.. u might have to tone it down a little bit..

To behonest, Its really a step backwards. As Usual, the Helicopters are flying death...

Armor is much harder to use.... the AA Trooper has a Guided AT missle now.
Helicopter are much harder to shoot down.. .. The new AT missle is pretty much useless against helicopter.. unlike the old DC RPG which u can actually use to shoot down helicopters with..

i have played a bit more and personally i like it, but will probably wait until atleast a couple of patches are out to lean out some of their spaghetti code and it to drop a bit in price, $50 seems to high if this is how the retail will play unpatched. it seems overly bloated, especially the netcode, but i may be asking for too much.

other than that, the helos are extremely easy to fly, their speed indicator seems a bit wrong as i can be almost hovering and it will say i am moving at 20, which i assume is knots since it is aircraft when it should show 5.

i think they should limit parachutes, like they do in the silent heroes mod for 1942, more of the same, people flying over in a helo and then jumping out ditching the helo. they should make you land the blackhawk for people to get out not just fly over really fast and then jump.

the planes, well they are there.

i still feel it is bf:v polished a bit with a mod...

The system requirements say:
Video card must have 128 MB or more memory and one of the following chipsets:

* NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700 or greater
* ATI Radeon 8500 or greater

You think there is any chance of me getting it to run on my 5600?

It's difficult to take many of you people's opinions at face value, because you all seem to hate EA so much.

Face it folks, the DEMO of BF2 is vastly more enjoyable than that bug-ridden POS console port put out by Rockstar a few days back...

This game makes me want COD2 even more. The problem with these EA shooters is that they just aren't realistic enough for me. If I run up behind you and put a couple of bullets in you at point blank then you should die. And don't get me started on the 'bunny hop' crap. I'd love to see some real soldiers jump around like that while strapped down with that kind of weight.

For the opening company logos that take a minute upon booting up the game, delete everything out of your C:\Battlefield 2 Demo\mods\bf2\Movies folder. Of course, navigate to the correct folder of where you installed, as the direction I just posted is of my install. Once you do this, it will take you directly to the login screen.

As for the shadow glitches, you can either turn shadows off (which I don't recommend, because they're nice when they work), or you can update the drivers for your 6600GT to the 77.30 included with the demo. While you theoretically shouldn't have to do either, that is the way to fix it.

Congradulations retard, for stating the obvious. Somehow you missed the point of this thread, being titled BF2 Demo "REVIEW" and all. Maybe you should learn to read before insulting others for their opinions.

It's difficult to take many of you people's opinions at face value, because you all seem to hate EA so much.
Well, I do hate EA, but I still give them a chance and buy there games if they are worth it. I'm just a bit pickier now with their games. I was playing BF1942 before this one. I loved the Medal of honor series untill they ruined it with Breakthrough. I'm looking forward to the Godfather. I still hate them, because they release badly coded games and then tell you that something is wrong with your machine for performing like crap on it. And because they ruined my favorite series - MOH.

Why is everyone ranting about EA games? This is a review thread about BF2 not how EA GAMES is.

If you don't like eagames ignore this thread move along with your complaints and make a separate thread. No one wants a chain of 100 people complaining about how bad eagames is and how crappy it is and how bad their marketing is and what they do to their games.

Anyways: BF2 IS AWESOME, I played the demo until 3 A.M. there is so much stuff you can do, I C4'D my dune buggy and I drove it at full speed into a enemy outpost and juped out in mid air and detonated the C4 and killed like 6 people it was the coolest.

Ya know... I STRONGLY dislike EA's business practices and their idea of "quality" in terms of their products they release. But the demo is entertaining. I've been playing it a lot as well, but not online... only in single player mode. For some reason it won't let me create an account online... it just stalls. Maybe it has something to do with my router... I dunno.

*EDIT* BTW... for those of you wondering about RAM requirements... after about an hour of playing single player on the small map, I exited the game and checked how much memory I was using... 90MB of my 1 GB was free. I really hope the demo has a memory leak... otherwise you really are going to need 2 GB for the larger maps.

Video works on my T41 ThinkPad. It's a ATI Mobility Fire GL T2. But the video appears to be the same no matter what settings I use.

BTW, any AT server out there?
