I played a few games online and off. I have to say I ain't a huge fan of this map. I think I will wait on buying it till I can get it for $25 or below(new or used). I will stick with CS:S for now.

I'm pretty sure the defibulator can be used as an offensive weapon in close. I haven't tried it, but I know I've seen/read it many places in the past in previews and such that always state it can be used to hurt enemies as well as revive comrads.

hahahahaha...I need to know it works before I try it, otherwise I'd waste a perfectly good opportunity to knife someone.

One more gripe:

Special Forces does not get any points for destroying the enemies resources. There is no incentive to be that class other than to cripple the opponent, which I guess might be good enough, but I'd like that reflected in the score. I went behind enemy lines, blew up the artillery, radar, and com several times, but it wasn't reaflected in the score. I gave up on doing it and just camped at their spawn and shot em in the back.

Oh, and the squad feature is cool beans. Probably the funnest part so far. Just make sure you have a medic, and your 6 man squad will own.

Speed is Ok on my 6800Ultra. But even with latest driver's and older driver's ALOT is messed up. Shadow's (large triagular ones) everywhere.

Plane's shooting missiles. While looking at that from the ground, the misiles look stupid. When they hit the ground you can see a stream of smoke, but it kinda reminded me alot of Like Scorched Earth fro some reason lol.

I dont like some control's. While flying the plane/chopper's it will NOT let me use my mouse wheel for pitch up and down like it does in BF1942 and BFV.

Im a HUGE fan of BFV and 1942. But All I can say is im glad I didnt preorder BF2.

Wow. I played this demo as much as I could this weekend and completely fell in love with the game. I left the game at 800x600 and it looked beautiful, so I felt no need to change any video settings. It ran extremely well despite the fact that I was playing on 80? person servers (40v40) and using the chopper most of the time. The network code seems to be perfect and most of my shots registered as hits when I was sniping, which made me extremely happy. I recall the network code being pretty ugly in the original BF1942.

Anyhow.... I had a ton of fun and am deffinitely buying the game.

Oh and my system, which had virtually 0 graphical issues: xp3000, 1gb ram, 9800 pro.

Oh, it definitely works. I got defib'ed by a bot, and it killed me in one hit!

anyone else notice that the sniper the not-us team has is almost impossible to hit with?

I have emptied whole clips on stationary targets with only none to one hits

I was able to knife someone last night. There was a sniper camping in a torn down building in the little park-like place in the middle of the map next to the railroad tracks. We traded some fire back and forth from quite a long distance, and I finally decided to move in on him. I retreated over a hill, and proceeded to go around the long way so he couldn't see me.

I honestly didn't think he'd stay there, but by the time I got around there, he was still inside the little shack. From our bullet trade earlier, I was completely out of ammo for my main gun, so I ran in with my pistol. He was completely shocked, and started running and jumping around. I was unable to finish him with a clip, so instead of reloading, I whipped out the knife and trapped him in a corner fairly quickly. Two swipes of the knife and he was dead. Next time, I know not to waste my time with the pistol.

I was hoping to be able to pick 1680x1050, but 1024x768 @ 75Hz was my finest option. There was another, 11**x8** something, but I don't care much for resolutions other than the regular.

Ok, well, I picked 10x7@75, and went on my merry way. The intial load took atleast 5-6 minutes, as it was "optimizing" my shaders or whatnot. After it finally did that, and tried to connect to the server I had picked, it just sat there and sat there and sat there. I had to quit out, then come back. Once I did this, it loaded fine. I spawned on the battleship, and from here it was confusing. Not having played BF1942 for months/years, I felt a little disoriented. Add to that the clipping going on everywhere, and textures popping in and out. This continued throughout my play with the game, but I soon became used to it.

These are my bullet-point thoughts:
  • Buggy texturing, this needs to be fixed.
  • Netcode is initially laggy as hell. Frequently hopping around in a 20 foot circle on a server which tells me I have a 35 ping.
  • Once again, the netcode needs to be fixed to allow better aiming. I unloaded a clip into a guy running circles around me, and never killed him. Trust me, I should have been hitting him.
  • Vehicles are hard to drive, as they are buggy as well. Controls aren't tight enough, you just don't have much control with the driving aspect.
  • What's with the bouncy fvcking camera while driving? Go over the slightest bump, and your view shifts violently up and down, overexaggerting the feeling of being inside.
  • Now to the good stuff, the weapons have a nice punch to them. The reload animations are great, and the control feels tight when shooting.
  • What can't I cook a grenade? Or atleast hold it before I throw it, just to have it ready when I pop around a corner? Might be something I'm missing, though.
  • I love the animations of the flag going up and down the post when takeovers are taking place.
  • I love being able to call for a medic while my spawn counter is timing down.
  • Freaking spawn is sometimes buggy. More than a few times, when the timer hit 0, I did not respawn, only was kept staring at my dead body.
  • Trying to right-click to choose a new class and spawn point is also buggy as hell. I often was unable to change parameters while waiting to spawn after death.
  • Do not go into a level, and immediately try to fly over the map very quickly, unless you have a top-of-the-line computer. I did this, and everything was too slow to load, therefore choppy as hell, therefore I crashed into something in mid-air. Game couldn't take it apparently.
  • The commanders seemed to be non-existant, but will hopefully become more useful once the best of the best come out of the woodwork.
At first, I was consistently at the bottom of the ranks after each match, but I slowly went up and up, eventually taking 2nd place with 3 takeovers, 11 kills, and 5 deaths. Decent stuff, but the current bugs in the demo make me try too hard to like it. I do, in fact like it, but hopefully the demo isn't respresentative of the final product coming out. If so, god speed to EA in getting a patch out quickly to resolve the most glaring bugs and issues.

What's up with the damn sniper gun in this game? I set up shop underneath the trains in the middle of the map, and focused on a spawning hotspot of the enemy. Must've been their only one, because they were swarming. I shot no less than 30 rounds, and I only killed one guy. I tried aiming directly at the body/head and firing, it was a no-go. I then tried leading a bit, still a no-go. Tried leading more, still a no-go. I even shot 3 or 4 guys who stood still long enough for me to get a shot off, still a no-go. How many shots from the sniper rifle does it take to down someone? It seems like I get killed a LOT by single shots from out of nowhere.

And that's another thing that pissed me off about this game, is that when you get killed, you do not get to see who killed you. It aggravates the fvck out me when I'm just running along, and all of a sudden I'm dead staring at the sky. I nearly punched my monitor once I was so mad. This game is awesome when you're doing good, but infuriating as hell when you can't even get 20 feet away from spawn.

Best two posts on the thread, along with that awesome one about widescreen support which I cant wait to get home to try.

I agree with all of the points blurred vision made and have encountered the exact same frustrations. I unloaded a clip from an automatic into a player as we strafed each other in a circle. What ive found is that, forwhatever reason, the special ops silncer pistol has a better chance than a machine gun in that situation, which is ludicrous. I killed a guy in 2-3 shots from the silencer, but landed a clip full of random placement shots from a fully auto gun and he didnt go down. WTF?

The sniper rifles are useless for the reasons stated. Yes I read the post about bullets trailing, but I couldnt kill a guy from about 30 feet away (I had great cover and he never saw me). I pulled a pistol out from the same position and killed the guy. It's gotta be netcode or way too much of a sniper nerf. Balance the game EA.

And here's where I need help - flying vehicles. I played 1942 & BFV constantly, and I cannot get a plane off the ground, and the choppers flip over everytime, regardless of what I do. Please include some helpful suggestions with the obligatory "u sux n0ob" replies. Gracias.

PS - The game has MUCH potential. Commander feature is incredible if done right.

Also forgot to mention that I'm getting decent performance at defult vid settings on my rig (below). But i really wanna turn AA on because it's ugly without it.

Most of the slowdowns are due to buggy netcode, not rendering chokes. Nothing like fighter jets stuttering across the sky.

Why thank you, I'm flattered.

After reading back through my bullet points, and after a LOT more rounds played, I can update what I think on some of those.

The buggy texturing was alleviated by updating my drivers. While I hate being forced to do this, I do understand it's just a demo. I updated to the 77.30's included with the demo, and everything looks fine now.

The netcode still is a bit laggy, but now I'm wondering if it's actually the poor usage of memory/disk space instead.

After getting a feel for aiming, I'm not sure I want to blame this on the netcode now. I think now it's an issue of whether or not the weapons have enough damage with each bullet. Of course, I could just suck, and I hide that by blaming the game. :disgust:

After getting a feel for the vechicles, I can now say that they aren't buggy as I originally thought. I'm learning how to cope with the game taking long to load into memory long after I've hopped into a game. However, the controls still aren't tight enough IMO. They feel oh-so slippery at times.

Spawning is still a little buggy, and it forces you to go into the class/map screen and come back out to spawn where you did the last time. Also, I previously thought the only way to get into that spawn screen was to right-click, which only worked 50% of the time. Now I know you can hit Enter also, which works 100% of the time.

Loading time still sucks while playing for the first round or two.

Commanders are still non-existant in the games I've played, but there have been a couple of outstanding exceptions. People are also learning how to use squads to great effect now, which is only a good thing.

Nope, you can play with 64. It makes you stay on your toes a little more with that many people running around, but I've found that the game still runs pretty good with that many people, with little lag.

I used the pistol quite a bit, because the medic and engineer seem to run out of ammo quick, especially when I'm running around reviving people and don't have time to reload my machine gun. It works well, but if the guy had full health you have to nail him alot.

And I absolutely love knifing a sniper thats prone from behind. I don't think they can hear the knife come out. Many times I'm standing right above them and pull out the knife and they don't react. I hear it make a noise, so I'm suprised they don't hear it.

This game is laggy on my system, and i'm playing Single Player mode! Multiplayer was laggy and stutering realy bad, so I figured it was maybe net code or something. I guess since it is a demo it would be laced with a few problems.

I might try a re-install and see how it goes. I will try it on my 2gigXP/9700 #2rig and see how it plays. Other than that it is pretty fun even though it's a little buggy. Sure takes a hell of a lot of hits to take someone out. I guess thats because they are wearing body armor.

Does anyone know the rules on how your score is calculated? Also, how do I manage to get negative numbers in the second category? I assume that second category has to do with flag captures, but half of the time I end up with a negative number, and I never feel like I've done anything bad to deserve it. Even a couple of times, I've captured a couple of flags all by myself, and still end up in the negative.

TIA to anyone who can shed some light on this.

Hmm, maybe. That reminds me to tell everyone to not be so quick to punish for team killing. I've been TK'ed accidentally many times, and have forgiven. I wish people would understand that a lone tank in one of our bases is worth mine and another's life. I don't know how many times I've planted C4 onto a tank, and only had enough time to blow it up before I was killed. A lot of times, it will kill another friendly in the vicinity, and they will punish me for it. I'd rather us both die and the area be clear than both of us die and the enemy pull our flag down.

If you are using a mouse to fly then turn on the reverse mouse option in the airplane and helo control tabs.
