3ghz on your current setup is a waste of $ buddy ~ i know that, you know that, we all know that

we need a better platform to put them on to get anything (worth wild) out of them! :disgust:

I have a 1.8A C1 stepping overclocked to 3.45GHz @ 1.7vCore in Bios, and between 1.61-1.69 vCore in reality.
I got my 1.8A a month ago, before I realized it was a C1. I purchased it at MemoryMedia
I purchased the retail box...not expecting a C1. I don't think MemoryMedia even knows if they have C1 1.8A or not. Must have stumbled on some kind of luck.

Anyways, I am using a Swiftech MCX 4000 with a Thermal Take Smart Fan 2
My mobo is a ABIT SR7-8X and currently I am using the 1:1 memory ratio.

Intresting from 1 or 2 reviews i've read sr7-8x had problems running stable already from anything above 143fsb.

Could it be that the C1 stepping works better with sis chipset in terms of overclocking?

Hmmm...i wonder why they are holding back the sis655 afaik its been ready for a long time......

Personally, I'm looking for a 2.0 or 2.2 C1 processor.

Anyone seen any of these yet?

A question...if I fresh order one from Ingram Micro...would it be C1? Just wondering if Ingram Micro just has the newer ones or do they probably still have back stock of older CPUs?

Tek, Dont know thw answer on that one...Go ahead and call them and see if they will answer that for you...I have found most of these companies answer my emails on this subject and seem to be quite aware of the C1 appeal!!!

The only 2.0a's I have seen have been Dell's and part of Lukfilm's successful lot....No 2.2's yet I have seen, including Thugsrook wish for the 2.26b's...

i just got back from my local PC Club store (Lynnwood, WA) and have seen 2 x 1.8A C1s and 2 x 2.0A C1s. They all have the same caps arrangement as the 3.06HT. it took a LOT of restraint to keep myself from getting them and trying them out. my quest is over for now until i see what my current set of CPUs can do on a granite bay mobo. i have a sneaking suspicion that my CPus may go farther on these boards.

hey, i know howya feel. i am already sitting pretty at 3.30GHz from a 2.66B (which i got cheap by the way) but i still feel the urge to roll the dice and try these low speed chips out. i'd get the ultimate woody if i can wring a 66% OC on these things.

I would suggest returning that processor promptly if you're an overclocker. Notice this: L2 Cache Size 256K ? That means it is NOT a Northwood, with half of the 512k L2 Cache, and most likely OCing like crap.

I am cheapin out, I just want to put something together for fun. I am not a serious OC'er, or hard gamer.
A 2.0 cele (75.00) will go to 3.0 according to FiringSquad and Sharkeys--but really suffers from 128k cache in games--losing out even to a p4 1.6.
I can get this 1.6 for literally d-i-r-t cheap (40.00) I was just wondering if it was worth it. I mean if I can get 2.0 for 40.00--why not?
and it would outperform the Cele.
More money for golf is the way I look at it.....
