I've played this game as a Barb up until about 2 weeks ago. Then I bit into the MF idea and got a DH up to 60 and decked him out in all MF gear. With 5 stacks his MF is just shy of 250(247% i think). He is still doing his first run through of ACT1 Inferno. Since his dps is god awful due to the MF gear (18k before SS) it has been slow but still relatively easy.

The problem I have, is the glass cannon approach to bosses. It is incredibly frustrating to fight Rakanoth and have him teleport from off screen and 1 hit me(I learned the tell and beat him easily after that) and now the skeleton king's teleport is giving me headaches.

I gave up on SK after a few attempts but in my 2-3 hours in act1 so far I have found a good amount of ilvl 63 rares and even 1 legendary (read POS)

The game is getting pretty boring now though. I find myself firing up NHL on the xbox or playing SC2 as much as or more than D3 lately.

yeah.... i alraedy sent about 200hs on it...but i mostly play 1 hour per day.... that are exclusively 3 act1 inferno runs... if i find stuff somewhat good i keep going, when i find absolutely all trash i drop it

I prefer solo since it's faster/easier on me personally but I usually do take a tagalong dps which does make the run more difficult and I find I die a lot more. Goes from 90 mins to over 2 hrs to complete but I figure it's worth it since loot is sorta doubled.

My tagalong is usually a friend of mine who's a 50k dps DH, he gets 1 shotted all... the... time. But if anyone with decent dps care to run A3 but can't do it solo, pm me your battle tag and I'll see about sending an invite if I ever have a spot open.

Current stats(monk):
36khp
27kdps unbuffed
~43% crit
~35% dodge
~35% block
6k-7k armor
~900 all res

edit: I'm on EST usually do a run after 8-9pm

Well I quit the game because end game is trash. I leveled up a wizard and monk to 60. With steam sales it was all I needed to push me to a new game. Played around 150 hours so had my fun with it. If they would fix the drop rate and get rid of all the trash that dropped I might still be into this. I have better things to do then spend anther 100 hours to get 1 item that might be worth a crap.

Stop buying unids until this is patched. This was posted on Blizzard's forum about how to id an unid:

There are other ways to do this, to make this as easy as possible, follow these instructions exactly.

Getting the code:

1)Go to sell tab in AH
2)Hit enter to open a chat box
3)ALT+175(numpad)
4)Link unidentified item
5)Click to set cursor in the middle like so: »(HERE)[Archon Spaulders]
6)Tap DELETE key twice.
7)CTRL+A to select ALL
8)CTRL+C to copy ALL
9)CTRL+V to paste ANYWHERE.

Deciphering the code:

Well, given the recent trends, next patch ought to be pretty crippling for the end game. At least I haven't sold UnIds yet...

How is it fun to be a glass cannon? It's awesome to kill things quickly, but dying so often is as annoying as it is expensive.

My DH is about 32k dps and has reasonable resists and health to at least be able to get out of a shitty situation on a regular basis.

The way I think of it, I can't do damage if I'm dead, and the respawn time limit surely kills your damage dealt further.

Speaking of glass cannon and sucking: my wizard is sucking using just "found items". Not going to waste gold on AH before level 60 since I can get up there reasonably comfortable with found turd. Last two characters, I must have blown a million each or more before hitting level 60.

Oh ya, and the only thing i'm selling these days is gold consistently. Time to just farm gold and Tome of Secrets.

ok, well it's pretty borderline then. I'd still say it's worth it. You can probably still mow down mobs pretty good with 22k dps and the quality of loot should be still significantly better

what is the "best" MF value in which getting more stops being so effective?

Depends on the rest of your stats. There isn't any diminishing returns as far as I know for MF

It might be useful to have good MF gear always on, and then shitty MF gear that you can quickly switch on before you kill elite packs.

/shrug

I think it's because he can't solo A3 either way... he used to be a more defensive build but still got 1-2 shotted, so he decided to go pure dps which has improved our times significantly since I'm usually the one tanking. Obviously some of them will peel off at times and go after him and he uses smoke screen or whatever but every now and again, he gets one shotted by trash mobs. I guess it's a different playstyle, most of his deaths were avoidable but he's sorta lazy in moving out of the way. I don't think he minds the dying much since he's been getting consisently richer since joining me in A3 runs. He had never broken a mil previously and now he's upgrading every other day when he can and is currently sitting pretty on about 20-30m.

Oh BTW, a great combo for DHs:

Sharpshooter (to get to 100% crit quickly) as your passive and then:

Mark for death (with grim reaper for extra area damage)
Spike traps (with scatter rune, although maybe lightning rod is better?)

Then you just stand back and watch the pack run over your traps and obliterate each other. I've done over a million damage with this combo.
