Day by day the number of OL friends decreases... way to go D3!

It just doesn't take all that long to clear Inferno frankly, and while I think D3 definitely made strides in comparison to D2 in terms of making a game that engaging and fun to just "play", that only goes so far (or rather, there's only so much you can do) in this particular genre.

Inevitably it comes down to whether or not you like to farm, I'm part of the latter group and I think most people are nowadays because there are so many other online gaming options available, whereas D2 had the advantage of being a pretty big fish in a pretty small pond in it's heyday.

Just realized today I haven't played in a week, have no desire to any time soon.

I don't think I have logged in for a week either.. Maybe I should just RMAH my gear and call it a day.. I've been playing Torchlight since it came free with my Torchlight 2 preorder.

I was lucky enough to make 600$ off RMAH. I'm seriously considering selling my barb gear, could probably get some more $.

I loved D2 though, loved doing pindle runs, baal runs etc. Farming was fun for me..in D2. In D3....not so much

I've been thinking about doing this. The idea that Blizzard still wins with cuts of the earnings from my equipment I'll sell stinks though. I wanted to have fun getting to Inferno A3 and playing with a group of friends, helping outfit each other with drops, and then selling equipment for RM but the drop rate is so meager and with nothing else to it, I'm bored already with this game.

I probably won't sell my stuff, will just leave my equipment to stagnate. I don't intend to reward them for the RMAH experiment. I expected a lot more from Blizzard in the quality of D3. I guess the truth is that all their games will be like this in the future. Starcraft probably won't approach this level of micro-transactions but probably every other game they produce will.

yah, I'm done with D3 - killed Diablo on Inferno - further upgrades either cost a stupid amount of gold or drop with such a low droprate it's just not fun any longer.

Never did, never will, participate in the RMAH

Going to check out Skyrim I think - and wait on Torchlight II for this style of game again.

I finally started playing... My son and I are like lvl 18 Demon Hunters. We suck... LOL... we are in Act II now... You can definitely tell they patterned a lot off of the old D2 zones, etc...

How do you get decent gear? any tips? or do you have anything rotting you could hook a brutha up with?

The only way to get decent gear is to go on the RMAH or the GAH....other than that have fun grinding for 400 hours and still not find anything useful, sad reality.

You guys think a ring like this is worth $250?

Not $250, unfortunately. It has the right stats but not high enough. I'd venture to guess that would easily go for $60-$80, if quality ranges equally on the $1-$250 scale.

For while you're leveling up, it's really easy (was really easy when I did it) to get higher than your level equipment from the gold auction house. When you hit 46-60, there are items that have -level requirement, so you can get something much better for your level than an on-level item. My name is in my sig, if you add me and let me know when you'll be on I'd be happy to give you some gold so you guys can play.

At that level, buy a weapon with a socket, buy a flawless square ruby (roughly 200 gold on the AH). Normal becomes an instant joke.

To add to this, up until level 44, a weapon with a socket is always ridiculously better than one without. The cheap rubies are still far better than anything that you will get in normal or nightmare and they add a huge boost to your weapon's damage. Once you hit 44, you can get a level 60 weapon with a -14 level requirement. They can be kind of expensive, but they last for a really long time and are ridiculously powerful.

you're still at the fun part of the game; just keep pounding away. You can find cheap low level gear on the AH. Almost everything on there will be better than the gear you have now

Normal through hell isn't particularly demanding, you can definitely play through it all with nothing but the gear you find on the ground and from NPCs, so it's up to you. Honestly whenever I was first levelling I was pretty rigorous about keeping up with AH upgrades, but that also resulted in me overgearing it substantially which made it kind of boring. I actually really enjoyed the first few difficulties when I played my hardcore barbarian, I made it to mid 50s in Act2 hell with nothing but gear from crafting/NPCs/drops before finally dying.

I loved D2 though, loved doing pindle runs, baal runs etc. Farming was fun for me..in D2. In D3....not so much

Just the other way around for me. I thought D2 was pretty good, but as soon as I beat Baal the game just withered for me. I hung around for a while playing D3 after clearing Inferno simply because the game is more interactive and engaging to play, whereas D2 is an utterly mindless clickfest; the fact that D3 progressed from that is the biggest improvement of all in my opinion.

What the hell would be worth $250? Just curious. I wouldn't pay $250 for the best item in the game but that's just me. Different strokes. Is anyone actually buying things for $250 though?
