I've decided I'm going to download the game tomorrow morning after I get off work. Any quick tips for a nub whose never played a Diablo game before?

Here is some pointers I would tell you:

• Don't hold on to equipment. Either use it or sell it. Once you get a high level character you can buy the best leveling gear for your alts for chump change on the GAH.
• Don't bother with the blacksmith until you are in your mid 50's. You can buy better equipment on the GAH for the price it takes to make crafted equipment.
• Do upgrade the Gemcrafter. For leveling gems are very important (and continue to be important in end game).
• Normal and Nightmare are easy, play any class with any build no problem, so focus on magic/gold/xp equipment. Hell gets a little more difficult, you will need real equipment then.

Speaking of farming, I just found one of these during an Act 1 farm run:

congrats, one of the best rings in game

dex and str variants usually get 20-30m, not exactly sure about int but I would imagine the same if not only slightly lower

dont play it with a decent video card or youll get crazy frame skipping. And dont complain about it of blizz forums or they will ban you.

define decent card? i don't remember any issues with my 6870 or 7950

running CF on 2 6870s shutterd like a strobe light but i figured that was CF being dumb as it worked fine with it off

maybe it affects nvidia cards more than ati then. Check out the thread, its pretty widespread.

They aren't out yet and you don't know what they're are. These are current rates, if a ring with high dmg, over 100 primary stat, crit rate and loh isn't worth 10-15m... then you are mistaken. 10-15 is a low estimate too. What else do you expect the ring to have? It even has + elite dmg.

blizz has really gone down the crapper huh? Well, at least torchlight 2 will be out (hopefully) soon.

All res on a ring with those stats would take it past 50m. Not that all res should even be a priority on a ring considering it can be had everywhere except weapons.

I've got a rare right now that I found that is:

151 dex
74 vit
17 cold res
19 loh
171 armor
socket

~100 loh is pretty low, considering that people have 30k health (300 hits to fill back up?) and baddies do that much damage super easily.

Life steal is much better IMO.

lifesteal is capped in inferno and does not compare to loh at all until you do upwards of 100k dmg

max loh on a ring is around 330 on i63 rings so 192 is pretty good... skull grasp usually rolls 220 tops being a i61

So if you have 2.5% and hit for 30K that's 750 healing in hell. Switch to inferno and that becomes 150. You can beat that with around 200 Loh (not all abilities get 100% LoH). It's a fair amount of healing, and it does scale but LoH is generally superior. At the low end of gear it's not bad, poor man's LoH. Now if you are hitting for 80K a hit that's around 450 with lifesteal, starts to get interesting again.

If your doing 80k dps, you probably have over 1000 loh. Just sayin

This is just speculation based on what Blizz posted, but most of the Legendary changes will be to weapons which are useless right now. Stuff that is already powerful like many rings will stay mostly the same.

I think with the max life steal you can get/roll vs. LOH, LOH will always be better. Life steal is good as a secondary stat to LOH. I'd rather roll IAS, primary stat, and LOH over Life steal any day.

Finally beat Act II without the AH. Took forever for my group to find the right combo of gear and skills to kill Belial before the enrage timer hit. He was down to a tiny bit of health when the enrage started and wiped out all but our DH who was hiding in a corner. We were all yelling at him to keep shooting, and he managed to get enough hits in to take him out. Seeing him die is my new favorite D3 moment.

Everything about this game is just annoying, i mean even looking for suitable stuff on the AH is annoying as hell. With only three filters, i still have to individually look at EACH single item to find items with the right stats, even worse when looking eg. for things like wizard OHs. I haven't really had "fun" playing this for some weeks now, getting tired of looting crap all the time or to see that you get one-shot even with 900ish allresist etc., standing trapped within 5 arcane beams...etc...etc...i'd really like to see TL2 or any of the other games because i am so sick of this game.

My DH with all its buffs can do almost 200k on a crit on one enemy. Add the AoE marked for death and spike traps and I can go from 5% health to full health in about 2 seconds with a group. No way LoH can get anywhere near that.

I found it the opposite. Difficulty is a good thing when done right, but Inferno was just pure frustration at the mechanics of the game destroying you, regardless of skill. I can't farm when I am murdered by impossible affix combos. I quit 3 weeks ago and haven't looked back yet. I might jump back in for 1.04, see what happens. But I doubt I'm in it for the long haul like I was with D2.

same. i quit about a month ago. when 1.04 comes out i will try it again.

I finally found a build that was doable with my Barb in Inferno (LoH with those tornado things), and I got through Act 1 without too many headaches. When I got to Act 2, and ran into an Elite Fallen type pack, with fire chains, illusion (whatever the one is that splits into multiples), and a couple other annoying mods, I got them all down to 1 mob, after what seemed like forever, and then I got my first taste of that "Out of Time"/Enrage debuff. I died within like 2 tics of that debuff, and as I came back from town to try to finish that lone monster off, and died every time, I decided that wast it for me. That kinda game is not "fun".

I will definitely be checking things out after 1.04 comes out; will probably be giving my WD another try, as I really liked my WD when pets were actually worth having out.
