New system is pretty clever. 300% MF just happens to be how much I bothered to get. I can't really leave Act 1 with mf set. So I'm glad I'll be able to put on my better gear. Of course this means magic find loot just evaporated in wealth 5 minutes ago!

I think you guys underestimate just how long it's going to take to get to level "160", people are going to be wearing magic find gear for a long time to come.

they've obviously capped the level so they can up it via expansions just like wow. they've tried to force diablo into a WoW mold... and they're now realizing that doesn't work. so now they've come up with this "new system" that's essentially letting people level up just like in diablo 2.

All of this has been a huge debacle. maybe i'll come back when the game is actually cohesive and complete... but this is stuff that should have been ironed out in beta. hell... this stuff should have been ironed out in the notes process before they even bothered to code anything. not as a patch 2 months after release.

i'm not usually one to complain about things like this as i love experiencing the process of devs tweaking a game... but this isn't tweaking. this is them "adding" an endgame that they willfully chose to exclude from the game.

in any event... gw2 starts this weekend. I'll more than likely be uninstalling d3 then also. sadly.

They halved the proc coefficient - why would you need 80 instead of 60?

Assuming you mean 30%.

Right now 30% is a good breaking point for people because:

1) You don't need millions in gear
2) it's "good" enough to tank for the most part
3) the proc coefficient is low already for wicked wind, but at 30% crit it procs reliably often enough that you can get a good return.

Doubling this easily breaks #1 so that this is no longer a viable build unless you spend millions on gear. Of course this is talking about the current economy, with the increase in MF coming up and with paragon levels its possible gear prices will drop and 60% becoming the new 30%.

Doubt it though.

There was a post on the wizard forums showing the math, but essentially 80% was what you'd need to get a consistent proc the way you have it now.

So, finally the game is out of beta.

I like the changes, gives you progression for a LONG time. I like the MF changes as well, it doesn't screw people in current setups but allows people to ditch MF over time.

Interested to see what will happen to gold value now that the increments are being raised from 100k to 1m. I may have to load up at .25/m

Check out this ring I bought... The lvl requirement is 45. Those stats are insane:

Bought it in case I ever wanted to lvl a DH faster.

And I haven't sold that yet... I'm sure it's value just increased exponentially if lvl 60 items dont' have +exp rolls on it.

Yeah these 1.0.4 changes are looking really good IMO, and have been a long time coming. Some should've been in the frickin original release, others no so much because really I think you gotta have millions of users play test some of this stuff to see what happens so I'm not super critical about everything. But yeah, 1.0.4 sounds great, and this was the first I've heard of Paragon, looks like a nice addition.

It was the math I was curious about. Just seems that if 30% will work now and they halve process rate, it would mean you need 60% afterward. Guess proc coefficients aren't straight lines.

What about PVP? I bought four armor pieces of the Natalya set for my DH... I read that these will no longer drop in 1.04, so I'm hoping it was a good investment that can be resold for profit when PVP becomes popular...

Also, I heard that the original Diablo team made a new game based on Marvell? Anyone know the scoop on that?

Sweet, like I said before patch 1.0.4 can't come soon enough. Like 10 of my friends stopped playing months ago :<

The whole paragon system might encourage a lot more botting, but I guess bots are going to bot no matter what. Just like haters gon' hate.

They said it would be coming out in the later half of the month. I figured next week, but it makes more sense for it to come out this week. World of Warcraft's patch 5.0.4 comes out next week. Two major patches at once? Bad idea!

Servers going down at 0300 pacific, and will be down for "ten" hours. Blah. Oh well, at least I get to sleep in now. Nice of them do it on my three day "weekend."

I found it the opposite. Difficulty is a good thing when done right, but Inferno was just pure frustration at the mechanics of the game destroying you, regardless of skill. I can't farm when I am murdered by impossible affix combos. I quit 3 weeks ago and haven't looked back yet. I might jump back in for 1.04, see what happens. But I doubt I'm in it for the long haul like I was with D2.

The only problem with inferno is the fact that all the good gear drops there, and it doesn't drop often. Nobody would be complaining if the best gear dropped in Hell at a decent rate, and Inferno was a loot pinata, one that could one-shot-you, but a loot pinata none the less. Instead, Hell drops crap gear and Inferno loot is worse than World of Warcraft.

Yup and because of their inexperience, they cant figure this out. All you have to do is look at D2. D2 at least you see set stuff, uniques, etc drop even in normal, stuff that actually helps you progress and adds fun to the game. In D3, you get shit almost always, and even in inferno. They havnt figured out the fun mechanics of loot in arpgs and much of that has stemmed from their severely limited and linear itemization design.

I get they are adding stuff and trying to fix this arpg designed by 12 year olds, but I honestly dont know how much fun and impact its going to make to the game. Many are excited for the patch and I like seeing them trying to fix stuff but, I think its going to end up being too little too late.
