I got my Demon Hunter to level 70 last night. I have to say, if you're trying to level by yourself, I wouldn't put such a strong emphasis on bounties. I found that going into the first three stages in Act V (the first and third especially) and just rushing to the mini-events provides the most experience. Those mini-events (all the houses, cursed shrines and cursed chests) all provide either close to or more experience than a bounty or a bounty turn-in, and you can do them incredibly fast (especially the "choose the chest" event!). Act V also has a ton of resplendent chests compared to other acts. So, I normally do the first three, and I will continue on
as long as the last bounty isn't Kill Malthael. He isn't hard, but it just takes too long to get to him and kill him.
So, I guess all that I have left now is my Witch Doctor, Zazzil! Smack, I don't know what I'm going to do when I'm done.
My base damage is only 600k, but my fire elemental damage is at 1.4m to elites (with a level 60 SoJ that I kept). I still need to craft a Devastator for the bonus fire damage from that, but right now fire bonus is at 79%; so still a work in progress. Prior to that, I was around 1.05m base damage with between 20-40% physical or holy bonus which put me around the same. However, the bonus damage from skills for fire abilities is so much higher and I just melt stuff with so much less damage. It's kinda silly.
Hmm I also have a Fire Monk, but unfortunately, I just have some standard weapons at this point (i.e. no bonus to fire skills). I hadn't heard of the Devastator that you mentioned, but I had an axe drop that you might be interested in: The Burning Axe of Sankis. The axe also grants bonus fire damage (+15-20%)
and a special proc on being hit to gain an incoming damage reduction buff. Unfortunately, the one that I got was on my Wizard and I wasn't even max level yet.
Anyway! I bring that up because that might be something else that you'd like to go for. If there's anything that I've noticed, it's that Monks tend to be a little squishier, and that damage reduction buff would help with that. Another interesting weapon is the Pig Sticker. I ended up using one on my Monk because it was slightly weaker damage-wise, but provided better toughness. The reason why I bring it up is that I got into a Rift the other day, and about halfway through, I realized that I was fighting mostly spiders... i.e. a lot of beasts. My Pig Sticker provides something over +20% to beasts, so I was definitely getting a good bonus on them, and the rift boss was a human.
Anyways, the Cindercoat is a must have for fire monks. The reduced cost for fire skills is incredible for burst damage. Way over the top awesome.
Cindercoat is awesome! I had one around the 40s and then I found another one at 66. Unfortunately, I still haven't found a newer 70 variant yet, but I'd love to get one.
EDIT:
Maybe if you get some magnificent roll. The ring itself is pretty terrible. Right now I'd have to sacrifice either 14% damage to elites + 2 other damage stats or 29% damage to elites + elemental increase + damage just to wear the ring.
I'd like to see a powerful combination that completely outclasses other options for Wizard. Maybe it's just a Wizard thing.
When you say combination, do you mean a 3-piece bonus (now 2) + 6-piece bonus (now 5) that would be more effective than your Stone of Jordan? I saw this Crusader's profile the other day, and my first thought was, "Oh, man... he's only one piece off of completing both of these awesome sets!" Then I realized that he had the Royal Ring of Grandeur.
