Finally finished Act I last night, took 7.5 hours with my WD. That's according to the in-game clock, not my estimation, so it's literally 7.5 hours. I'm in a pretty good groove right now with the WD, currently at level 17.3 or so and ready to start Act II tonight.

I've come legitimately close to dying only once or twice during normal play. The Act I end boss was pretty tough but I was able to one-shot it.

Don't worry, you'll die alot and often come near the end of nightmare.

There was a group of those big crab things - elite, vampiric, and super-fast...took about 25 deaths each for all in our party before we killed them.

Not liking wizard so much now... can't stand and cast because everything teleports to you, or pulls you toward them, or charges, or has a super-fast ranged barrage that will 1 shot you if you don't move. Ugh.

At least you boys can connect. I can't even get past the login screen. Had the game for about 36 hours now and I haven't even picked a character. Nonstop error 3005. I guess by "requires an internet connection" they mean "requires a public ip address for each computer", as from what I'm reading, error 3005 happens when behind a router with multiple computers trying to play.

My roommate has been playing no problem, but theres two other computers here that were trying to use, none of them can connect, error 3005 constantly :\.

This can not be right since it's the router's job to, well, uhm, route you properly...EVEN if multiple people are using one internet connection. I mean that's the main purpose of a NAT router...

We are playing too on one connection, it works fine if everyone has their own battle.net account.

It's LIKELY a router/port forwarding problem...but i didn't have to mess with any router settings to be able to play at all. Something must be wrong with how your router does NAT. There should be no problem with multiple people from your network.

Yeah, I've never had a problem with one connection and a router allowing everyone in a household to play any game. Diablo 3 included. There's a different problem going on and it's not Diablo 3's fault.

Finally got to play a bit last night. Struggled through about 30 minutes. Is there a big change in things if I keep playing or is it pretty much all the same as what is at the beginning?

So a guy with good feedback on eBay is selling copies for $35 (I'm not posting a link b/c I know that's not allowed here). I messaged him to ask about region of the copies he's selling, and he said "it's global." I know D3 is global, in the sense that you can connect to any server no matter where in the world you are located. Does anyone know, though, what effect using a D3 from a different region would have, if any, if you're playing in the US?

Just found it boring. Feels kind of like a slower version of Titan Quest and wondering if it gets a bit more interesting later on.

KT

what level are you? after about lvl 10, when you kill the skeleton king, it starts to pick up a bit more. you get some cooler, more bad ass skills. you start exploring new places. the game definitely changes. at least, it did for me.

Solo Witch Doctor level 53... Act 1 Hell with Level 7 + 60% Blacksmith.

So much fun, so little time... I'm mowing down a lot of smaller things but still have quite a challenge with champions and elites, especially vampiric ones.

Game picks up more as you unlock new skills, add runes to them and change runes around. Most of the fun I've had so far is starting to struggle, changing a rune or two and finding new ways to mow down the hoard.

Level 4 I think? I'll give it another shot then to see if I like it more after 10. Thanks Niki.

Level 4?? Every RPG type game I've ever played has always been boring at level 4 lol. You have to level up some before it starts getting into the good stuff.

Only finished Act 1 but Blizzard always has some of the best cutscenes. Also I like the feel of 'big events in small places' and the persistence of Tristram and other names/places throughout the games, I just wish I remembered D1 and D2 clearly enough to remember who's who and who did what.

UGH, so Diablo syndrome struck me last night, got hooked and played until 3:20 AM and I had to be up for work at 5, today is going to be a looooooooooooong day! I agree with what people were saying yesterday, Act II > Act I, I loved it. The boss at the end of the act I thought was a little hoakey, but overall it was great. I'm warming up to D3 a little more now, it took some time for me to adjust to how different it was from D2 (considering the sheer amount of time I have played the D2 formula). It's very different but also very good.

Pro D3 tip:

Enable 'Elective Mode' in gameplay options menu.

This allows you to equip any skill to any slot. IE: You can bind multiple primary skills, defensive skills, etc.....

GG

Pro(ish) response, we talked about that quite a bit earlier yesterday

Screwtape#1371

Be warned, I'm a Diablo noob. :\

And a MS fan, double whammie!!

Has anyone found a Unique or a Page of Training yet?

I at 29 now, and have encountered dozens of rares but not a single unique or training item.

I found a Legendary axe at the end of Act II last night (horribly weak though), put it in the AH. You've gotta remember that 90%+ of the "good" stuff is going to be found in Nightmare and beyond.

Finally got to play a bit last night. Struggled through about 30 minutes. Is there a big change in things if I keep playing or is it pretty much all the same as what is at the beginning?

KT

At 30 mins you've barely even scratched the surface of the game. The enemies are fewer and far between, it's trying to slowly introduce you to the game. It gets better, trust me.

Just becareful. If he purchased those on a stolen CC or files a chargeback, Blizz will have no problems pulling the key from your account.

I've had this happen with WoW prepaid subscription I bought 3 months worth on ebay and they pulled it after 1.5 months because the person filed a chargeback.

Yeah, by the middle of act 2, they're starting to throw some serious situations my way. Act 1 was a piece of cake.

havent been able to play for 2 days now the lag is so bad.. 400-2000+ ms on a 20mbit connection.. this is ridiculous..

I want a refund.

All other games are buttery smooth bandwidth wise.

I was getting serious lag too last night. There's a 1-1.5 second delay. Lets say I cast a vortex to draw the monsters in as a monk. After I press the hotkey, it takes about a sec for them to be drawn to me.

What's weird is is that I dont have this issue when I'm playing on the Euro server.

Normal mode was pretty easy with the Monk. NM is going to be a lot more difficult. All the semi elite monsters and boss monster are wallers / casts that fire / poison crap on the floor / sentry casters / or any combination of such.

Anyone also notice how these maps are extremely large ?

Diablo III feels like Diablo II lite IMO. Game's an epic fail. Only 4 people can play together... Companions not available unles you play solo... No runewords. Campaign is short. Huge server problems during first release days. Some characters feel very underpowered. NO PvP on release. Hefty $60 price tag. No offline single-player. Auction house paypal fees. You cant ninja other people's shit. Cant farm bosses.
Skill system is dull and lame. you cannot pick rooms where there's as much people as u like. Instead a room gets picked for you and it usually has 1 single n00b barb playing who's just trying to leech off you. WHY the f*ck cant I just PK him? Oh.. Wait, there's no PvP.... And once it's added, I still wont be able to PK him!

And have you seen the cow level?!

All they had to do was to take Diablo II, or even Diablo I up it's graphics and resolution to Diablo III level, and just leave everything EXACTLY THE SAME. They would be left with a much better game.

I had zero lag issues last night and I played most of the night. Only area that's been iffy is the AH, won't load items.

Literally everything you hate about it is what I love about it.
