Is there a large amount of people leaving because of the patch?

In my little world, I lost one friend from burn-out (tried to get him to donate his riches to me no dice ) but had 5 new friends join up.

I'm still having fun with this game, glad I'm not focusing on the end-game/grind/farming part.

D3 leveling from 1 - 60 isn't bad imo assuming someone doesn't go wtf over the difficulty levels and replaying content (which basically means a game like Diablo isn't for them)

the problem is as you said once you hit 60 and trying to farm or progress through Inferno

patch 1.0.3 made a lot of people's builds and gear itemizing no longer or less viable, so they either had to reitemize and/or change build. many chose instead to quit D3.

I chose to make a new character. I quit playing my WD and started leveling a DH because the build & gear I used with my WD was fun for me to play pre-1.0.3 but that fun was gone post-1.0.3 and I did not want to reitemize and play a different build with my WD.

other issues that 1.0.3 produced is that the repair cost makes gold accumulation grow at a lesser rate and since the most common method to upgrade gear is to actually build up gold wealth rather than self farm item upgrades, it makes playing more discouraging and grindy

Blizzard also added higher iLvls to be able to drop in A1/A2, but also nerfed higher iLvl drops in A3/A4. the players that have been farming A3/A4 noticed this change which makes the item farm for them more grindy.

so while Blizzard nerfed Inferno monster damage to lower the quality of tank gear stats needed for Inferno, they added a lot of things that makes D3 less fun and more grindy.

the new enrage mechanics for bosses also really screw HC players.

I really hope Blizzard completely changes the game with the first major patch (1.1).

One of the things I loved about Diablo was being able to run a 10-15 minute boss run, then do something else in another game. I'm stuck with hour+ long runs now to find better items, and the acts are downright boring to me... I really wish I could wp around ALL acts and do whatever I want for the same rewards.

D3 is getting boring real fast end game, and imo deserves the 'we fixed shit that isn't broken' award.

Thanks to the patch my monk went from 20k dps down to 12k dps. Went from dominating act 1 & surviving act 2, to not able to keep up with repair costs in act 1.

When I first killed diablo in hell mode (solo, no one helped me through), I had ~6k dps, 30k hp, ~100 resist all.

Progression is 100% dependent on the auction house, and the only ways to keep up with the current state of the auction house is to either (A) spend $500 in the real money auction house, or (B) set up gold farming bots to run 24/7 in the background. Actually, even option B I do not see myself staying on par with the "professional" farmers.

I don't know. My thoughts after giving inferno a good go (the previous skill levels were a joke):

Diablo 3 is 95% gear, 5% skill. And it is 99% exploit and 1% gameplaying.

It is true that it is 95% equipment. Stats are static (relative to level), and the only variation is in the gear.

I would however split up the remaining 5% into 3% luck and 3% skill. You get the wrong mob and you are running. Very VERY little skill in that.

What do you guys do when you've got 5 stacks of Nephalem Valor and run into an impassible situation? I've got 2 difficult packs camping the zone in of one of the caves 'old Zoltun's blood is in. Just log and lose the Valor buff? Already spent like 50k dying trying to kill em....

Incidentally, the community managers over on the battle.net forums have indicated that the Inf A3/A4 drops are dropping less high iLvl gear then intended, and they're going to be addressing that this week.

Bacon, generally I'd run back, kill any elites in areas I hadn't already run though, then log out. Losing NV sucks, but there's nothing to be gained by being a damn fool about it.

I think its unfortunate that I just dont have much passion to play d3 now. I played d2 for years and years but cant bring myself to play more now in its current form, havent even logged on since before 1.0.3.

I guess I thought this game was like a single-player version of WoW

I am not 60 yet and I'm bored and don't see how its gonna change so I have since stopped playing. Not too enjoyable

How much is a 977 DPS 1-Hand Axe w/ 166 Intelligence plus a socket (9% Attack Speed built into DPS) worth? Just got this drop, i'm thinking 20m?

And how should I market it? To barbs would probably prefer an emerald while wizards a ruby.

edit: 1009 DPS w/ a cheap ruby.

The repair rates are just absurd now. 30-50% of my drops are now going straight to gear repair. They should make so your blacksmith can fix your gear and it gets cheaper as you level him up.

The socket adds a ton of value for a caster. If you don't need it put it for an absurd amount of money then try again in a day and a half.

If it was me I would put 25 million with a 50 million buyout. Every two pints of a stat adds 1 dps to the weapon (I believe this is the case). You may even be able to get more.

Yeah pretty much. I'm just going to farm gear in my evenings and sell on RMAH at this point. See if I can't make a profit off the game.

I have been doing just fine and I have barely used the AH, believe it or not I have farmed a bit of new pieces on my own.

So I have not done A or B, and am doing just fine.

I'm almost to 60 with my DH and I'm about burnt out on this game. I really see no point in doing the same thing over and over again just to be able to buy/get gear to beat the game for a 10th time. Hopefully there is additional content released down the road as the same 4 levels is just not enough for $60 and 10 years.

You guys weren't kidding about buying those.. flawless squares (I think that's the one) on the AH. Only ~90g each! I bought 20, and now I can pimp out my characters!

I am confused but did the people that feel this never play D2?

It was no different in that game and you didn't beat the game if you have not beat it on the hardest mode.

And even then grinding for gear was always the end game in these.

I never got into D2. Honestly, that was my senior year of college and I was more worried about grinding against women that computer games To me, D3 feels like a 10 year old game and should have more substance to it at this point.

I think the biggest difference is when say, a bow dropped, it had stats on it beneficial to an Amazon. May not be up there to help your guy out, but at least it was related to what you could possibly use.

Now you get rares with +Int and +Str with +10% gold find. Absolutely the most ridiculous combination. I don't ever remember this in D2. Maybe 1 stat was not useful, and the rest generally were something you might build off of. This is my biggest gripe. Having enough trouble in Nightmare since rare's drop so infrequently, and when they do, rarely are they beneficial to ANY class.

I like the +xp from monsters on follower items (or any high level item)

With all the complaints (not from me, I don't really get invested in a game), and how bored I've already gotten with this game, I looked, and I played it for 70+ hours. Even buying the collectors edition, and if I never touched it again, I feel I've gotten my money's worth.
