I had played a demo or something back when the game came out and tried out all the characters. I remembered liking the monk back then so thats what I went with to start.

Started on Normal difficulty but it was really easy so I upped it to hard. Much more challenging and fun now.

1 question I have is about the skills. You can select from like 4 skills (say primary) but it seems like some do more damage than others but it doesn't say how much damage they do? I just got the 4th primary skill and compared to the other ones, it seems like I kill much faster. I didn't get different gear between the change, so I don't think it's that.

Also should I sell unwanted items or salvage them? been salvaging most stuff.

You can look further in depth at the skills by going to battle.net and playing with the skill calculator.

Go into your options and look for "Advanced Tooltips" and enable them. While you're at it you probably want to also enable "Elective Mode" in there which gives you greater freedom in customizing your skills.

I finally got a Puzzle Ring and within 8 drops from the little goblin I had gotten a 5.5% CC Carnevil & a 91% Pet, 6%CC Mask of Jeram. Now if only I could tempt him to drop more Zunimassa & Jade set pieces.

Really? I only used mine a little. I have to give up a RRoG or a Unity to wear. It is too bad that followers can't use it now.

My WD is stuck with not enough Jade, Zuni or a T&T so I run with some clan mates hoping to pick up the last few bits of gear. As such I run a Tall Mans Finger & the Puzzle Ring both have CC & CD on them.

I do a fair bit of damage but it isn't consistent (Carnevil but no Zuni set bonus) so I pumped my DPS to 1.15M and once I get some Fetish Sycophants up I can really hurt elites & clear trash with Poison Dart spam.

Solo I swap out Acid Cloud for Piranhado and run T2/3 or use Locust Swarm Pestilence instead of Slam Dance to do act 1 normal bounties.

There's still a bug as far as I know with Fetish Sycophants passive overwriting the fetishes summoned from Fetish Army. Don't run them both.

And you really should run MoJ instead of Carnevil in a pet build.

I found Puzzle Ring to be pretty useless. Whites don't drop enough, and the few that do drop in a typical game for me would serve me better as crafting material.

I will use MoJ when I get T&T for the right char. Right now I spam Darts @ 4-7m crits and only use Fetish army to get Fetishes started, I find the Sycophants arrive faster afterwards and I can keep a group of at least 5 Fetishes through most rifts constantly. The pets provide a little extra damage & protection, dog crits for ~20-30mil.

I try not to run the same build as everyone else, I find a play style I like and adapt my skills/gear to suit my style.

On the plus side in the last ~12 T3 rifts I ran (on a 4G connection) I managed to complete Invoker & Shadow sets & get 3 parts Tal Rasha but still no Zuni, Marauder, IK, Jade or Vyr set pieces. Also found a Mortal Drama Flail which is quite nice and helps my crusader kill faster in T3.

I have T&T but no MoJ. My fetishes from the passive crit for 5m. Put a MoJ on and they'll probably do 10m each. I think, no, I know you're vastly underrating MoJ in favor of a hat that is a known dps decrease due to it interrupting fetish melee animations for a mediocre ranged ability.

This. My fetishes (with a 94% MoJ) crit for around 11 million, and I have twelve up almost constantly.

I wish I could find a T&T though. =(

I hit 478 today and found the rare mojo, Shukranis Triumph. It rolled decent.

I passed one billion gold on my account, currently sitting at 327 million.

I finally got a RoRG for my Crusader (4th RoRG out of all my chars), and once again, it blows.

Had to re-roll life on hit to either CHD or CHC, ended up getting CHD at 29%. So my stats are:

72-135 dmg
+421 Strength (low is 416)
+5% Attack Speed (low is 5%)
+29% CHD (low is 25%)

What a pretty crappy RoRG. Might have to farm it some more (might as well so I can give one to my barb later). My Wizard's RoRG is the same thing (though it has trifecta), low stats on everything.

Seasonal legendaries could be awesome. Start a new toon to pic up certain legs and over the course of many seasons you really could get interesting builds.

I have been off it for a bit, but I will be back eventually. Been super busy at work and between the NBA finals and the World Cup, time has been elsewhere.

I will likely have time to play Monday though. Looking forward to some changes in 2.1 (sycophants fix and the dex armor). Should give Monks the survivability they really need now.

since i'm liking D3 i bought Reaper of Souls. I inserted the DVD and autorun came up and it looked like it went to the launcher. didn't see anything install or download. I entered my code in the website. i launched the game and I got a new cutscene in the beginning with death and tyrael.

How do I know the expansion is working??? everything else looks the same to me. maybe the launcher screen changed a bit? it shows version 2.0.6.24641

You should have access to Act 5 now, provided you've beaten Act 4. Everything should have already been patched (animations and such) because you can still play with people who have the expansion. Blizzard is pretty good about keeping everyone up to date and just using account gated stuff to separate those with the latest content.
