Pubs used to be alright until the butt buddy system came along, aka clans.
not sure what you mean.
Pubs used to be alright until the butt buddy system came along, aka clans.
Lame. Accept the fact that not everyone is the same level. I glady carry peeps in a pub with less than adequate gear. why? because that's the pub. Make a friends list so you and your cool friends can just start a private game together. not really rocket science.
I mean, cmon...it's a pub...it's not srs bznz.
To you and others who responded in the same vein:
1) Good for you that, with your spare time, you're happy to carry other players.
2) I'm not saying that everyone needs to be on the same level. I'm saying, when someone in pure xp farming gear who contributes nothing to the group simply joins to soak up exp there's an entitlement attitude that goes along with that kind of behaviour, which I find disrespectful.
3) Because, not everyone can join a "full clan" with "cool friends". I have no problem speeding through T6 rifts if some people are slower, I have a problem with people directly leeching off others (gem of ease, full exp gear, some don't even have passives on...)
4) And it's not about 'butt buddies' or 'cool people' it's about a simple sense of teamplay. I started playing T6 when I felt I could contribute. But it becomes a waste of time when 2500 people are on T6 rifts and half end up jumping from game to game to find good players and others are jumping from game to game to try to find a game they can leech off of.
5) On 'accept the fact that not everyone is the same level' - I do, that's why there are lower difficulties. That's the basis for my anti-entitlement argument. If you can't solo T6, why join a pub T6? Clearly, to obtain a rapid advantage. But it's off the back of other people that you do so.
So yeah, I'm happy to boot leechers from a group, and I'm talking about pure/useless leechers, not people who can and try to contribute, but may not be as fast as an omg ancient aether walker tal rasha Wiz.
Funny how I'm the one taken to be seeing this as 'serious business' when people seem to think it's fine to have a leeching entitlement attitude.
To quote you: It's not rocket science, play at the difficulty you can clear. If you want to leech, it's not rocket science either, make some friends with people you can leech off of. But don't join a pub group and simply leech off the valuable time of others.

There is no difference. Whoever told you that was clueless.
If your time was that valuable you would have joined a clan already. A leeching entitlement attitude, d3 is srs bznz. Pub 5 life.
I am in a clan with friends, who don't play that much. My time is valuable, but not so much so that I refuse to play with anyone who isn't as well geared as me. My problem is with pure leechers, not people looking to contribute to a group, and the fact that you keep responding with 'srs bidness' proves nothing except you think people are simply entitled to leech off of others. Or you have some kind of issue with me thinking that I should not have to - unwillingly - carry others in a pub game, and that it should be reasonable for similarly geared players to be grouped with one another to avoid this
I don't really care what you do. You're still lame. GG.
You don't care about what I do, but you continue to comment about my principled position. If that's the extent of your capabilities, the only "GG" here is the contradiction that is clearly evident between what you're saying and what you're doing. Might want to get that checked out.
Actually, my IK Boulder pre 2.2 was not upgraded to the Ancient dmg bonus after the patch!?
Re: set changes being retroactive - that only applies to the multi-piece set bonuses, not the changes made to individual set items.
Sweenish - I've carried people as well, but when my friends aren't online I tend to pub it rather than play solo. And yes, people do pub below T6 in seasons (EU) but they tend to think they should jump from T1 to T6 and there's a lack of players in between. But, they could do what I did, find someone who easily clears T1 while you're in T1, friend, go to T3, farm, make a few more friends, go to T6, and by then you're a contributing member of the public game, not a full out leecher. I mean, I just had someone kicked from a pub game - a crusader, played for 1 hour 7 minutes, half his gear slots empty and no passives selected, open a rift waiting for others to go in so he can just pick up gear in our wake. That's the attitude I'm talking about. But I guess I should have no problem if even naked level 70 characters with 0 paragon simply run behind me and let me clear rifts for them?
You practically said you leached by finding someone who clears t1 fast. Sounds like you shouldn't have been playing t1 in the first place. Yes, they could do what you did OR you could do what they did. I've powerleveled new characters on t6 in 30 minutes, its not a big deal.....clan, friends, or random, who cares, I'm not forced to do so.
Either way, leachers aren't going to go away so why keep crying about it? Kick them, play solo or with friends, problem solved.
I think that with WW barbarians existing it doesn't matter if their are leechers in the game because no one can keep up with them regardless.
Spin to win baby.
Interesting to me that out of the comments I've made in this thread (including on gameplay) the only real engagement with my posts seems to focus on the fact that I am happy (as are 2 of the other players in a 4 player game) to kick leechers out of a group. Very interesting indeed.

I guess that tells ya how much your other comments are valued.
FWIW, I don't think changing the matchmaking system will matter much. Just keep kicking those you deem unworthy to play in those glorious pub games, feel free to stop posting long winded defenses of how you choose to weed out those lesser than you...in a pub....lol. That's hard to even type without laughing.
