Yes, this game is habit forming. Mind you, this is just on the PC. I also have a play through on the PS5 going, but not as many hours. Trying to still work and see the family

Ha I wish I had more than 2hrs a week to play. With work, gym sometimes and running errands with my girlfriend, I don't get too much time. Then I get asked how I can work 10-12hrs on the computer and still be able to use a screen to play video games after. Pretty sure that just translates to I should have other hobbies lol.

Took down my first great enemy in Ancestral Spirit. Actually got him on the first try even though my wolves were worthless as he did an attack that one-shotted them all at once lol.

I think I'm gonna start the game over as a vagabond and follow the fighting cowboy walkthrough that he's putting out right now. I will feel much more comfortable this way going through it.

You can respec your character later on if you don't like the build you have. No reason to start over.

I didn't realize that. I suppose I can just follow along with his walkthrough with my Confessor build even though I'm a little leveled up now.

Even if I do start over I can just save in a new slot unless they don't allow that.

You need to beat a boss, who I think is after Godric, and use a larval tear if I remember right.

Ugh I think I spent way too much time playing the east end of the map, because Margit and Godric were freaking pushovers with +7 uchigatana once I got to the castle lol. Thought Crucible Knight was harder than both of them.

I did end up going to this well and took an elevator down that took like 45 seconds to reach the bottom of what looked like a complete different map.

I quickly took it back up right away because there was no way in hell I should have been in that place at my level.

Ah now I know exactly what area you were talking about. That area is pretty tough and is huge. Just beat it yesterday.

Yea this game seems massive. Just by watching that YouTuber do 3 parts of the 100% walkthrough the first thing he does is goes and gets a bunch of graces and items so I'm just watching along and realizing exactly how humongous this game is.

Many of these areas if he did not point them out I most likely wouldn't even find them. Hopefully tonight I can play it again and catch up to his 4th video. Really wish I had more time for gaming. With going back to the office in a hybrid model in a few weeks, it's not going to get any better.

LMAO, 60 hours into this game and I never even knew there was a dragon near the starting area. Just found him and ended up being the fourth dragon I have taken down. That would be a really hard fight without the horse.

That walkthrough I'm following has me leveled up to 20 with a +4 fang blade weapon. The next thing he's doing is fighting that dragon in the starting area. He also did not use the horse at all. Mainly says to side by the dragons face and attacks. He can only do some stomp moves this way so it looks like I just have to avoid the difference fire breathe patterns.

Obviously it looks simple in the walkthrough but I've noticed as I follow along I die bunch of times before I'm able to continue.

I don't really "get" watching a walkthrough and just playing the game exactly like someone else is doing. Much of the enjoyment of this game is just exploring and seeing things for yourself for the first time as you play through. Just following a script like that wouldn't really be fun to me at all.

I used the horse to kill the first dragon too. I only hit it with magic the whole time. I think like 2 times when it got super hairy I completely ran away and basically stopped the battle, then after he went back to his normal resting spot, I ambushed him from behind and got a couple free hits before we started back up.

It's the only way I can make progress in the game as I dont have a lot of time to play and when I do, I'm just fumbling around dieing over and over and not really getting anywhere.

I don't know, it helps me get to where I should be and then I kind of just take it from there. If I don't have some sort of structure I lose interest especially in these type of games.

I just think the whole feeling of "no progress" is part of this type of game. I played for like 2 hours last night and don't feel like I really made any progress lol. I found some new graces, lost to Godrick multiple times again, found a new boss I had never found and died over and over, and then basically called it a night. I did level up my uginata to +5 so maybe that will help with Godrick when I face him again.

I have like 26 or 28 hours I think and I haven't even passed Stormveil Castle, story wise. I have found my way around it well before ever getting to Godrick, but I haven't been able to beat him yet. I'm kind of doing a jack of all trades build but am now going to just focus on strength mainly since I have my magic in a place I think it's good enough for. I'm at level 49.

LOL I didn't do Stormveil Castle until I was already 40 hours into the game. Margit and Godric were pushovers for me though because I had spent a lot of time fighting optional bosses in the eastern part of the map, which was really difficult at the level I was at lol. I think I had a +7 uchigatana fighting Margit and Godric. Godric did kill me once in the second phase with the fire attack though.

Yeah that fire part is where I'm struggling most. Not sure how the hell to get around some of it. I also don't know how everyone is leveling up their weapons so much. I can't even find enough smithing stones to do that. I have a bunch of ones that I can't even use yet like the somber ones and some other kind, but I'm guessing it's because I haven't found the blacksmith that can upgrade it for me with those.

That's the one of the first few things that walkthrough showed me hahaha. Well the somber stones he says he will go over them later but the smithing stones you can find in the limgrave tunnels as well as throughout the eastern portion of limgrave.

Do enemies drop them in the tunnels? Or is it just a one and done thing? I haven't been back into any of the tunnels/caves I've found in that area.

Usually they are on the ground or in hard to reach places and sometimes if you see one of those mining enemies hacking away at something yellow in the ground/wall that's also upgrade material there.

In the one tunnel you have to roll off the elevators on to small ledges of the cave and that's where one of them was found.

There's also one in the limgrave ruins area with the poison plants, on the ground.

Yeah I got all of the ones in that tunnel where the guys are mining em and you can kill em from the back then get the stones.

Also have been down in that tunnel where those poison plants are. There is like a woman down there who sells spells to.

Oh the poison plants I'm talking about are the limgrave ruins, outside to the right of where that caravan is located with the two giant trolls pulling it on chains.

You can also buy smithing stones from a merchant in Liurnia of the Lakes area. There should be a grace point up north of the map to the east called road to the manor. That merchant there sells stones for up to +4 upgrades.

Yeah, that is the same ruins that have the girl down there who can teach you new spells.

The underground mines are loaded with them. Funny though because I played areas way out of order I had all these level 4 and level 5 smithing stones that could get my weapon to +15 but didn't have the level 3 stones I needed to get to like +8. Even got a level 9 somber smithing stone which is like the second most powerful smithing stone in the game lol.

Really struggling with

Fire Giant

Too many times he gets into a corner of the map, making any type of attack or defense impossible. Had him down to a handful of swings and it's always some cheap shot that gets me.
