i'm running kingston hyperx pc3000 memory, but the 222 fsb figure is just my board's limit while running asynchronously to test (shows up as 223 in wcpuid). i'm still testing the limits of my memory. i'm at 190 fsb at the tightest timings and moving on up. i'll post once i find my final synchronous fsb resting spot.

Having some problems with this board here.
I'm using an ATI 8500LE 128MB Ram, AMD TBred 1800+ & 512MB PC2700 Infineon Ram.

All was working well till a few days ago. Then I started to get frequent keyboard & mouse lock ups & BSOD. Keyboard will sometimes also not work upon boot up.

Now I am getting no display at all upon boot up. Looks as if the monitor was on Stand By.
I've tried resetting CMOS & held down Insert while booting up but no luck. I've also tried it with everything stripped out except CPU & HS, RAM & Video card.

The code on the mobo is FF... I've read some thread over on Nforcershq and they all conclude that an RMA is the only way to go.

Just throwing it out here for any other suggestions before I do RMA it.

Edit, stupid me forgot to mention that I have tried swapping video cards also but no difference

UPDATE
Interesting, hooked up the mobo outside the case and it's alive now...

Two questions:

1): What is the most current Rev. of the 8RDA+ ? Mine is 1.1.

2): Are there any hi-end heatsinks that don't require a shoe horn to fit onto this board without bending electronic components out of the way?

I'm replacing my 8RDA+ and Crucial PC2700 ram with a new 8RDA+ board and Kingston HyperX PC3000 memory to try to get over this 166 FSB crashing issue that was making me sad. I hope replacing essentially the entire system should do the trick. If you just replace the mainboard with an identical one, you shouldn't have to reinstall windows or anything should you? (except a bios update) I'll report back on how the new parts work together.

My board has unfortunately done something like you're describing. I did a routine Windows2000 restart, and it didn't come back on. Sometimes it would POST at 100MHz FSB after clearing CMOS, sometimes not... but it finally gave up POSTing under any conditions, in or out of the case. I tried several suitable video cards, five sticks of Crucial RAM in various configurations, two Antec TruePower PSU's and two different CPU's. The northbridge and southbridge get warm but the CPU heatsink stays cold, so I wonder if the CPU isn't getting power or something. (for the record, the CPU works fine in another motherboard, it's not the CPU).

For the record, this was a 1700+ Palomino running at stock clock speed in an office system. I stuck my K7S5A and 1GHz Duron in there as a temporary fix while I decide where to go from here. At this point I'm thinking one of the following: another 8RDA+, or an 8RGA+ if they ever arrive, or an A7N8X-Deluxe, or maybe just go back to the ol' A7N266-VM.

sounds like a grounding issue...make sure the mb spacers/risers aren't touching anything they're not supposed to. i had the same problem on a msi board awhile back. good luck.

When is the best time to flash to a new bios? I have just assembled the computer and done the first couple of initial boots into the original bios. Everything seems to be working and or being recognized appropriately so far except the CPU. I still have to change a setting in the bios to address that I believe. It's posting an Athlon 1700 at 1100 but I think that the FSB is only set at 100 at the moment. I haven't put the O/S on yet either.

It would appear so. Once I reinserted the mobo back into the case, I started reattaching one item at a time and did a boot up subsequently. & each time it booted up fine.
But after leaving it off overnight, now my hard drive seems to have died on me. It can't find the Windows/System dir, can't do a repair & won't format.
I still have to conduct some drive test on it but it's making this loud clicking noise that is definitely not normal.
Argh! Nothing is working right with this system :|

Now I don't know if the fubared hd is related to my initial errors or if it's a new problem on it's own that's totally non-related

1. 1.1 is the most current revision available I believe
2. My slk-800 fits fine, and I'm pretty sure the slk-900 should fit without problems as well.

The way I did it, I installed windows and everything to make sure everything was working properly and then I flashed to the newest bios. That way you can tell what issues if any come up with your current bios and you can see if the new one fixes them.

I am about to put together a system using the 8rda+. A number of sites suggested not loading the nvdia ATA drivers, but to stick with the windows version because of either a conflict or a system slowdown. Is this correct? And is this applicable to 98, SE, 2K and XP?

Has anyone mounted a Swifty MC-462 ot this board? Are the holes around the CPU grounded?
My 8KHA+ took a dive and I'm shopping for another board, as a long time EpoX user I'm really
looking hard at this one. And hoping EpoX will RMA the 8KHA+, 60 days out of warranty :disgust:
Neweggs @ $88 very temptin!

I'm looking to get some affordable ram to get my FSB up to 166. There's good deals on crucial and kingston pc2700, but from what I've been hearing these don't work very well on this board. Has that problem been resolved? If not, what other brand of memory should I get? Also, right now I have a stick of 256mb pc2100 Kingston memory. What kind of effect will this have running with an additional stick of 512mb pc2700?

Try svc.com. I ordered one from them awhile back. Good price and quick service, although they messed up another part of my order.

If you're using Nero, I had to do the free update on Nero's site, then it worked fine.

its with clonecd and nero....won't let me burn cds. Can someone tell me the order to installing the drivers? I install xp with sp1, and then I install the nforce drivers, and then everything else, anyone seeing a problem with this?

Key item: when installing the nForce driver package, answer No if you're asked if you want the SW IDE driver installed. This is likely to fix the issue (in conjunction with the Nero update patch), it usually does.
