There also added memory precharge setting but it doesn't yield better performance nor overclockability, I just tried.

What is the "overclockers," or more aggressive, setting for the memory precharge?

Thanks.

My system was all fine yesterday, but when I started it today, my sound doesnt work anymore. I tried reinstalling the drivers from the disc (epox's dl doesnt work) like 5 times, but it still doesnt work. My system isnt overclocked... Anyone know what's wrong? I see no conflicts in the control panel..

I've seen this a number of times. You may just need to open the nForce sound properties, and reset the volume on all speakers up from 0.

Anyone else have trouble with hibernate support on this board?
Win XP, AMD 2600+ @175MHz FSB

Put win into hibernate fine, but every time I "reboot" from hibernation It says XP cannot load from the data and I have to do a std. boot.

Sounds like your hard drive is powering down, thus not allowing the Hibernate file to be properly written.

A question about sound.

Is the onboard sound of the 8RDA+ better than the sound of a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz card? There is a $6 deal that I'm considering but only if there would be an improvement over the onboard sound.

Thanks.

Has anyone got the magic screen utility to work? Its so you can set a splash screen of your choice when you boot the board. It loads the file into the BIOS. When I try to select a file it says there to big even with sample files it came with. I even saw a 8RDA+ screen so im assuming it should work.

Friend of mine has an 8RDA3+ and cannot boot, getting to FF (fans, HDD spinning up) then nada, no graphics nothing...
Is this due to RAM incompatibilities or what, as he has tried 2 different 8RDA3+s with exactly the same problem!

Rest of System:

Epox recommended ATX case (400W)
GF3 Ti200 AGP
2x512Mb PC3200 (unbranded)
8RDA3+ rev 1.1
AthlonXP 3000+
Western Digital 60Gb HDD

Any ideas?

Two questions:
First, I set up a 8RDA+ for my son's friend to operate at 10x200fsb=2.0ghz with these components. The system is perfectly stable and had memory at 6332.5

8RDA+ rev1.1 current bios
2500 barton with amd stock hsf 41degC idle, 47degC heavy load
Vantec iceburg on north, Zalman on south and ramsinks on mosfets
2x256 buffalo pc3200 ( from Marmaduke) sync
old Geforce 3 ti 500(?)

The old card is the achilies heel for the system I know, but he'll get new FX or Raedon for Xmas. Sooo my question is what should be the next step to increase performance? I told him to replace the HSF with SLK 800 or so when we replace the video card. I would feel better about changing the multiplier back to 11X with better cooling. But should I change memory settings right away? And where do I start? ( He only shows up for lan parties with his rig every other weekend and I can only play around with his rig 'till they get up at noon and get tense- ungrateful little b'stards )
Here's about my knowledge limit. I'd appreciate some "where do we go from here" suggestions on memory and then multiplier and fsb settings.

Second question is on a Shuttle sn41g2 with a xp2000 (old reuse) processor I'm just putting together for my daughter. I know this isn't the forum, but can I Oc it without physical unlock with the Nforce board? Just curious since AIM and Kazza doesn't take much horsepower now, but It will become my main household computer ( read mine) when my wife upgrades her laptop next year and my daughter gets the old laptop. And I'm wondering about a future processor upgrade then or can I OC it?

Kazza is chock full of malware - and if you remove it, the program stops working. Install Morpehus or Livewire or some such, and run Spybot and Ad Aware afterwards to git rid of the crap.

Kazza lite - I'm sure it's completely benign, because I'm such a trusting soul.....:disgust:

I've yet to have a problem with Kazaa Lite after 4 months of use, it's sweet. Anyway...

Just received my 8RDA3+ from NewEgg, evidently they're shipping revision 2.0. Came with a pretty nice looking heatsink AND fan on the northbridge, and a copper heatsink on the southbridge. Not as nice looking as an Iceberq, imho, so I'll probably replace it.

The problem with SATA drives and data corruption is supposed to be fixed in the latest drivers (from nVidia, I think, can't remember where I've been today) The Epox website doesn't have anything but a new bios for you, so you'll have to go get drivers from nVidia and C-Media. The driver installation programmers at C-Media need to be beaten with something large and heavy. For any of you who might buy this board, when you install the sound drivers, it asks you where to find the Windows system files. It's actually asking you for the Windows disc, so you'll need to input the name of your CD-ROM (d: or whatever).

I'm typing on the computer running on this board, and so far only have one complaint/problem, other than Epox's need to hire decent translators. I can't get my sound to work except for the Windows start sound and the 'test' thing in the XGear 3D Audio config. Gonna do some more searching on forums to find out what's wrong, but it's irritating. You'd think they could have tested the software to work properly, seeing as the only relevant components here are the motherboard and Win98. Oh, one more thing, the nForce MCP networking controller, for some reason, had some real problems with the drivers, but it started working at some point...

All in all, I'm happy with it, or will be once I get the sound working. Anxious to see how fast I can push my lil 2200+.

Can anyone confirm whether or not the 8RDA+ (or any nForce2 chipset for that matter) can unlock old Athlon T-birds without any mods (pencil, gap filler, etc.) to the cpu? Or, is it just the Athlon XP's that are unlocked.
