I really believe Porsche will appear in the retail version of GT5. I mean if VW, Audi and Bugatti are in it, I don't see how Porsche won't be in it. Man, driving that Carrera GT will be awesome.

RUF has been in the GT series since GT2 I think (yup, confirmed at GTPlanet), and they make awesome mods based on Porsche models, RUF CTR2 was my favorite. But there are just too many awesome Porsche factory cars to not have them present in GT5, I'm talking about the GT1, GT2, GT3, Turbo, RS Spyder, 959, Carrera GT, and a bunch of classic models. Here's hoping they'll add Porsche through addon in a future date. I'm definitely buying that.

The release date is Q4 2009 according to a [brochure handed out at Gamescom]http://www.gtplanet.net/gran-turismo-5s-q4-2009-release-date-confirmed/?gr_i_ni[/l]. So that jives with the Amazon release date of 12/29 that I posted earlier.

Color me skeptical, but based on past GT releases, I still don't see them releasing GT5 this year.

With GT5, we've already reached and passed that stage of being skeptical. That stage was a year ago. We're in the stage now of just not believing anything until Polyphony or Sony themselves give us a solid date. No "4th quarter" or "this fall" or "2009". I want to see a firm date before I get any hopes up.

I think Porsche has been spoiled since they had that EA Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed which featured ONLY Porsches. They need to loosen up the licensing and allow other games to use them. Gran Turismo is the greatest selling racing game of all time, how could it no have Porsche in it?
Maybe Porsche doesn't like GT because GT used RUF?
