Anyone have trouble getting the game today? I'm gonna stop by my local Best Buy on the way to school to see if they have any SE's left. (I have gift cards there thats why)

There wasn't an update released today....

Has it been a week or so since you logged on? There was a small update which was for some new controllers coming out this christmas.

I'm going to buy this game and have to wonder something about the reviews I've glanced over. Everyone seems to agree that this is a 4.5/5 or 9/10 game at the very least. And then I go to Ars Technica... 7/10? Is this a case where you throw out the high and low? Is Ars just trying to drive traffic for some reason?

I don't know about any of the reviews but the game really is worth it. tons and tons of replay value.

the theatre feature has kept me busy for HOURS so far today. it's just so fun to see how the other team is reacting to what you are doing, etc. I love watching it from my enemy's viewpoint

Wow, this will be a VERY short game with 4-player co-op. Three buddies and myself decided to all start the campaign mode together, and we blew threw the first 4 out of 9 levels in about one hour and 40 minutes. And that included some bouts of horrible lag that would last for 3-5 minutes. Most of the time the game would run super smooth, but every now and then, when there wasn't any action, it bogged down tremendously, and it was a slide show. During huge fight sequences with us driving and shooting in warthogs and mongeese, enemies all around driving and shooting, it ran smooth as butter. But sometimes, after we killed everything, here came the lag for no reason at all. We'd eventually make our way a couple hundred yards forward, and it'd smooth out and be fine.

However, I'll be playing through the rest of the game by myself for sure. Hell, I've played for 6-7 hours today, and I'm still excited to check out more multiplayer maps that I didn't see, plus try out the forge feature.

does anyone know if you are supposed to get all of the same achievements playing coop as you do playing single player?

I finished the game but I didn't get an achievement for beating the 5th level???? I"m going to play through it many more times myself and over coop.

Think I'm about on the last level now. Have to say...SP is much closer/similar to H1's SP than H2's SP. Level design, things you're doing, etc. Certainly not a bad thing. Would really like to keep playing it but need to go back to work tomorrow

Went in around 6 to pick up the game. There was about 50 copies of the standard edition still sitting on the tables near the cashiers. That, and about 5 shipping cartons of the legendary editions on the floor.

Glad to hear no one was killed on the release of Halo 3. I plan to pick up my Legendary copy sometime this week - I've had a Gamestop reservation for over a year now...

Being the huge Halo nut that I am, (CDs, T-shirts, other swag) it's ironic that I don't even have the Xbox 360 to play the damn game yet. I wonder if I can wait until Christmas vacation to play...

After 2 wal-marts and a best buy looking for an unscratched disc, I gave up and just picked up the standard edition. The funny thing is that best buy did not want to return the scratched disc. They showed me a piece of paper that said "microsoft is aware of the issue and it shouldn't be a problem". I told them that for $70, I don't want scratched discs.

Kicked into co-op mode last night. Lots of fun.

Ok so I've beat the game on normal and I'd like to beat it on legendary through coop. if anyone wants to try it out, let me know. I'll even play heroic if no one wants to step up to legendary yet

Damn, you guys need to slow down! I'd love to play Legendary coop sometime, but definitely not now. By the time I'm ready to do that, everyone else will have already played through on legendary and beat it. Hell, I think I'm the only one who hasn't beat it on normal yet .

And by the way, I was on bungie.net this morning seeing if my pictures that I uploaded had made their way yet (they haven't, and won't by now), and the stat showed that as of around 6:30am this morning, in the last 24 hours there had been over 1.1 million unique players in an online match.

heh last night 3 friends and I beat it on legendary co-op in one sitting. it took us like 4.5 hours.

if we had skipped all the cut scenes it woulda been just under 4 hours probably.

wow 4.5 hours. It took me about 1 hour just to kill the spider tank thingy in the courtyard area. I kept dying or falling off the cliff.

Then it took me another hour or so just to clear the area in the desert where the pelican and larger ship could land. I kept dying often because all i had was a gun with a few shots in it and a single grenade. The snipers kept picking me off when i got close or the enemy tank would whack me with its secondary gun.

I think normal is pretty challenging personally.

yah i beat it on heroic single player in about 10 hours, but 4 of the 9 levels I played co-op locally. heroic was tough but not that hard. it had some parts that were tough.

but co-op on legendary was pretty damn easy, almost a joke in some parts. we literally could always just keep pressing forward at parts and not stop walking while shooting. i wish it was tougher than it was.

I'll have it beat tonight...will take you up on that (or some regular multiplayer). If I didn't have to go to my parents for dinner last night I'd have beat it.

Here is my experience playing Halo 3 yesterday. First Halo I have ever played.


5PM - Put in disk load up campaign. Play through a few checkpoints......ok this is really boring. Really doubting my decision....why did I fall for the hype.

5:15 load up MP....ok this is better. 9 hours later still playing. 2 hours of sleep before work. It is gonna be a rough day. I can barely keep my eyes open. Halo 3 mp is awesome.

I wish I wasn't so bad at it. I'm really good at PC shooters but this is the first time I've tried to play a console shooter Multiplayer. I did get better as the night progressed but I usually ended up one of the bottom 3 in FFA and on team...my team mostly lost.

I swear that I actually got beat down by a retarded guy. I heard him talking and it sure sounded like it. That made me feel like throwing my gamepad out the window lol.
