I've got all but 2 skulls now. I love the grunt confetti skull. I can't help but smile everytime the confetti comes out and I hear kids yelling .

Bungie Weekly Update: 10/19/07

Just like Santa, there are two lists. The Naughty and Nice ? there?s something for folks on each list.
Harbinger of Doom
There are those of you doing things you shouldn?t be in Halo 3. Some of you have gotten a little too famous for your own good. This ain?t a church and there is no redemption or salvation once you have been judged. Apologies are now officially to late to save you.
The storm approaches.

I've got all the skulls now. The last skull on the last level was a little too easy, seems like Bungie got tired of trying to find places to put them throughout the game, and just said fuck it at the end.

I had a 16 kill streak last night on snowbound... it was unbelievable how easy they made it for me. I started out by killing a guy with the beam rifle, then I hijacked the ghost, killing the driver in the process. Then I just drove around killing them... they didn't camp in the cave, they just ran around on the surface while I ran them all over. I had 14 kills on the ghost, I think 9 of them were splatters. If my shields started dropping too fast I just hit the boost and got out of there until I recovered. I only stopped at 16 because we won.

And you wonder why people camp in the cave. Because of you.
You don't see me running around without a ghost.

Network attacks, by and large. Hard to prevent, easy to detect, but we've had to wait and make sure there were no game issues that could be confused for abusive behavior.
Banning a false positive is worse than missing several legitmate bridgers, DDoS'ers, and their ilk. So our process has been pretty methodical so far.

Just play. You have to get used to the layouts of the maps, where weapons are located, etc. Once you get used to the maps you can start to anticipate where people are moving and be prepared for them.
I always have my worse games when I'm starting out on a map I haven't played before. The most important thing is to keep moving when playing Lone Wolves and stick with your teammates at all possible when playing team based games.

How are people cheating? Someone mentioned lag in high-ranked games above - are people somehow faking lag to cheat? What are "bridgers"?

From what I understand, there are ways to force a game to lag. By the time Live corrects for the lag, the team/individual(s) that forced the lag has killed all the opposing players. I know some would do this by simply unplugging their console from the internet and then plugging it back in before it would time out. I don't know if that is a 'bridger' or not though. I'm also left wondering how someone can be so lame as to initiate a DDoS just so they can win at a game of Halo.

what you explained is what was known as stand bying. it was when the host would purposedly disconnect for like 30 seconds or so and on his end he could kill everyone in that 30 seconds, and then as he plugged it back it it would re-establish him as the host but he would have all those kills.

Yeah, that was a cheater tactic in Halo 2. I don't know if it still works in Halo 3.
