I've got all but 2 skulls now. I love the grunt confetti skull. I can't help but smile everytime the confetti comes out and I hear kids yelling .

I've got all the skulls now. The last skull on the last level was a little too easy, seems like Bungie got tired of trying to find places to put them throughout the game, and just said fuck it at the end.

Just like Santa, there are two lists. The Naughty and Nice ? there?s something for folks on each list.

Harbinger of Doom

There are those of you doing things you shouldn?t be in Halo 3. Some of you have gotten a little too famous for your own good. This ain?t a church and there is no redemption or salvation once you have been judged. Apologies are now officially to late to save you.

The storm approaches.

Love, Bungie

Cannot come soon enough. Thank God one of these companies actually cares about keeping a level playing field online. I've already run into several uber laggers online due to my high rank and it is annoying seeing someone appear & disappear throughout a game.

I think they made that one easy on purpose. That was the only one I actually found whlie playing through my first time. I think they put it there so we are like "oh we found that one easily, I should go back and look for the rest of them."

I had a 16 kill streak last night on snowbound... it was unbelievable how easy they made it for me. I started out by killing a guy with the beam rifle, then I hijacked the ghost, killing the driver in the process. Then I just drove around killing them... they didn't camp in the cave, they just ran around on the surface while I ran them all over. I had 14 kills on the ghost, I think 9 of them were splatters. If my shields started dropping too fast I just hit the boost and got out of there until I recovered. I only stopped at 16 because we won.

DAMN! I played some lone wolf matches to try and get an achievement or two, and found myself fighting for the 10-kills achievement. The first match, I got to 8 before I was killed, and I was pissed because I didn't think I'd get anywhere close again. Two matches later I got to 9, and go into a showdown with another ghost, who somehow came out on top. DAMN!

And you wonder why people camp in the cave. Because of you.
You don't see me running around without a ghost.

Well my first order of business on snowbound is to grab the spartan laser (if I spawn on that side) and blow up the ghost and anyone trying to take it. If i dont spawn on the laser side a couple plasma grenades always do the trick

Yeah, I'm sure that's a contributing factor... But there is a laser and a plasma pistol on the level, so the ghost is a sitting duck if you're good with those weapons. I always prefer to stay on the surface, even if the other team has the ghost - which they did, and that's how I ended up with it.

Even when the ghost is destroyed - especially when the ghost is destroyed - snowbound is a LOT more fun when everyone to the surface and fights it out. People camp all the time, not just when the ghost is around. They camp because they're pussies.

Is there some trick to killing people! I've been playing FPS for a long time. Usually you can aim for the head and youre good. In halo 3, i cant stay alive for more than 10 seconds! Online game play is insane...

Me and a bunch of my buddies managed to fill up a big team battle team. One guy managed to get a 25 kill streak on Sandtrap before another guy on our team accidentally splattered him going about 5mph. Literally the lamest looking spatter kill I've ever seen.

Just play. You have to get used to the layouts of the maps, where weapons are located, etc. Once you get used to the maps you can start to anticipate where people are moving and be prepared for them.

I always have my worse games when I'm starting out on a map I haven't played before. The most important thing is to keep moving when playing Lone Wolves and stick with your teammates at all possible when playing team based games.

Network attacks, by and large. Hard to prevent, easy to detect, but we've had to wait and make sure there were no game issues that could be confused for abusive behavior.

Banning a false positive is worse than missing several legitmate bridgers, DDoS'ers, and their ilk. So our process has been pretty methodical so far.

How are people cheating? Someone mentioned lag in high-ranked games above - are people somehow faking lag to cheat? What are "bridgers"?

Yeah, it's very evident when all 4 guys are sticking together on one team and guys are just running around haphazardly on another team. When one guy runs at a group of 2 or 3, he gets destroyed pretty quickly.

Learning which weapons are good for what is important. Assault rifle is great at short range, battle rifle is great at medium range. Learning to melee well is important. Paying attention to how other guys handle confrontations will help. Try to figure out what weapon a guy is holding - don't rush in on a guy who has a shotgun and try to melee him. One thing I've seen people do that seems to work well is they'll rush at you when you're one-on-one with assault rifles and it's more or less a toss-up, but then when they get close to you they'll start backing up. While you try to melee them they continue to shoot and you die. I don't like that you can run backward as fast as you can run forward, but the game is what it is.

I go straight for the ghost and EITHER destroy it or take it. If someone on the other team is going for it my higher priority is to destroy it. I don't risk dying to try to take it, because then they'll get it. But if they don't go for it (does happen sometimes) or if I kill them quickly, forget about it.

In the game where I had my 16 kill streak they got to it before I did, and then the guy with the ghost pinned me down behind some crates or something. It was a classic movie moment where you're just circling around neither guy can get at the other guy. One of the other guys on their team noticed this and decided to take advantage of that situation while my team ignored a perfect opportunity to hijack the ghost. He came at me from the opposite side and I still managed to kill him, but I think I died shortly thereafter.

From what I understand, there are ways to force a game to lag. By the time Live corrects for the lag, the team/individual(s) that forced the lag has killed all the opposing players. I know some would do this by simply unplugging their console from the internet and then plugging it back in before it would time out. I don't know if that is a 'bridger' or not though. I'm also left wondering how someone can be so lame as to initiate a DDoS just so they can win at a game of Halo.

what you explained is what was known as stand bying. it was when the host would purposedly disconnect for like 30 seconds or so and on his end he could kill everyone in that 30 seconds, and then as he plugged it back it it would re-establish him as the host but he would have all those kills.

Yeah, that was a cheater tactic in Halo 2. I don't know if it still works in Halo 3.

I hate people... what is the fun of cheating at a multiplayer video game? You know you cheated. I played a game against a guy recently who had a highest skill in the 30s, but his current skill rating was 12. He SUCKED. I think his k/d for the game was something like 0.3. He had to have gotten his skill rating high by cheating (possibly by having someone else play for him). He was a 12 if I've ever seen one... he was definitely no 30+.

I will say that in some games, the lag I have experienced at times has been VERY convenient for the opposing team. They will be losing, then the lag starts. Guess who wins in the end??
