I don't understand how anyone is saying the graphics aren't in the upper echelon of 360 games. After watching that video review at gametrailers.com, I can't wait to get this running on my 1080p LCD. I think it looks amazing.

I do agree that a lot of reviews seem to say a lot of bad things to be rating is as high as they are, but isn't all about fun in the end? If a game does a number of things wrong, but you still have an absolute blast playing it, why doesn't it deserve a higher score?

I've been firing up some halo 2, but damn after playing the halo 3 beta I forgot how rough the halo 2 graphics look

I'm not going to read any reviews of the game for now. I just want to get it and find everything out for myself. I don't want to know anymore than I already do.

IGN's review doesn't really tell you anything, it just goes over the gameplay and additions to the game. I can't wait to try out the new Forge feature, that sounds like tremendous fun. The single-player metagame also sounds like it'll be fun with 3 players on co-op, trying to find the skulls and working towards a high score.

Argh, I just read IGN's review. I can't wait to pick up the game.

I also wish I had pre-ordered it, but i'm sure there will be plenty of copies around.

While it delivers on every other aspect, and surpasses on others, I'm going to have to say that it still can't match up in terms of graphics to what Epic delivered with Gears of War. Yes, I know how Gears only supported 8 players, and the multiplayer was crappy in general, but still. Even the single player doesn't look as good graphically as some of the best from Gears of War, and Bungie has had a lot more time with the 360 hardware than Epic has. The graphics don't seem to have improved too much from the beta, though I have yet to play single player.

That's not saying their bad, in fact I would rate in number 2 on the 360 in graphics.

have you played the final game yet?

the single player game of halo looks fantastic. granted it doesn't look better than gears, it isn't supposed to either. it looks different. some of the cutscenes just look incredible though, and the actual gameplay has such vivid colors and just looks great the whole time. the explosions in halo 3 are top notch.

also I too loved GoW and if you read my previous posts on GoW, you would see how much I defended it.

while GoW is freaking awesome, both multi and single player, the thing about it is that there really is not much variety at all in the gameplay. this is where halo 3 shines BIG time.

you ride so many different vehicles, go by yourself, with the arbiter, with a whole army, have dramatic music playing while you do objectives, etc. I could go on and on and on, but at the end, there were so many times in Halo 3 that I had a tingly giddy feeling that I haven't had since I was a little kid playing video games that I Just cannot say how much fun the single player is.

sure there are some flaws, and there are a few levels I probably could have done without, but the feeling that you get in the last level are you know you are coming to the climax of the game, with the dramatic music just pumping and explosions everywhere, it just cannot be matched in any other game I've played of recent times.

and on top of that, you have the video editor, forge, co-op, and vs mode.

I'm sorry but I'm just tired of reading the "halo doesn't live up the hype" responses when they have not even played the game or just do not give any other valid reasons other than comparing it to PC games.

Ummm, I'm taking about GRAPHICALLY, nothing else. GoW will suck in every other aspect compared to Halo though. Trust me, I already preordered so I have to have some faith in the game.

In that case, I'd give Warhawk a 9.5/10. I have a blast playing it. Of course, it gets knocked down for imperfections, and it's not as beefy as a normal game. So, as much as Halo 3 offers, I think the imperfections and such would keep around 9/10. I'm just going by how reviewers normally review games. It could be lots of fun, but they'll normally knock down points for any little thing. This doesn't seem to be the case with Halo 3.

I really like the Halo series (c'mon, I've read the books because I like it), but I still have yet to see the Halo games wow me like Halo 1 did.

Who knows, perhaps I'll really like Halo 3 when I play it. Until then, I'm very skeptical about these amazing scores.

I never said it was the very best graphics-quality title out there. Of course, I don't necessarily think that GoW is the very best, either. I don't think any one title can be put on that pedestal. There are a lot of different games that have their own look, and I just don't think you can rate them in the same list. GoW is a gorgeous game, Bioshock is absolutely gorgeous, Oblivion was amazing when I first saw it.....I could name a few more if you'd like. None excels over the other, IMO. Juding by the videos I've seen thus far, the Halo 3 single-player game looks to be a part of this elite group when discussing graphics on the 360.

Does Halo 3 even have to be 'the very best graphics'? I don't think so. From what I've seen so far, it looks pretty damned good though. Throw in a compelling plot, action, four-player co-op and kick ass multi-player and you've got a great game.

Give Bungie credit though....they can take the color pallete out further than different shades of brown.

THANK GOD. After playing Gears of War recently, I am so tired of grey and brown. The vivid colors is one thing I liked about Halo, although the color did get tamer in transition from halo 1 to 2. I don't know how 3 looks yet, since I'm avoiding most information about the game.

I just found out about the save film feature today, and I was astonished.

Gah, after reading that the Limited Editions have poor packaging (so shipping could ruin them), I don't think I want to take a chance with it . Unless I can go to the store and ask to shake their LE boxes . I was going to order from Amazon though and I doubt it'll survive a trip through FedEx .

Care to elaborate? I haven't heard of this problem. I have the limited edition reserved, but since I work at Gamestop tonight, I'll be able to go through and pick out a copy before we start handing them out to the customers. By your description of shaking the boxes, I assume discs are coming loose and getting scratched?

What R Nilla said. The boxes don't hold the disc well enough and they become unhinged and begin to move around in the box.

I'm debating whether I"m going to show up at work tomorrow. I'm going to wal-mart tonight at midnight to get the game, and highly doubt that I"ll be able to go to bed without playing it for at LEAST an hour It may be hard to get up at 4:30 am.

Anyone else notice that the online manual is lacking in a lot of information. It seems limited to mostly weapons/vehicles/equipment that were in the beta. No mention of the Grav Hammer, Elephant, Brute Chopper, or fire grenades (among other things I'm sure).
