Just what the Florida pan handle needs, another direct hit. My wife goes to Destin for work and says the area is still not put back together from the last couple of hurricanes.
Names get recycled every 6 years, and then retired if the storm was extremely significant(e.g. Andrew, Charley) and a new name is put in the pool. This latest Dennis will probably be retired, at this rate.:QOriginally posted by: Kalvin00

Seems like Dennis was a recently used hurricane name, no?

Keep in mind there's no official cutoff for when a name should be retired, it's a group decision based on when the World Meteorological Organization thinks that reusing the name would no longer be appropriate.Originally posted by: Cuda1447

Wow, I didn't realize it was considered that bad. I guess it did a lot of damage, I just didn't think about it on the same scale as an Andrew.

I don't think it will be exactly like Ivan; this is a curving storm(i.e. hit the US then curve out towards sea, sort of how a compass moves), so predictions tend to overestimate movement to the left and underestimate movement to the right. I would expect this one to hit the rightmost predicted paths and hit closer to the main body of Floria than the panhandle. In fact, I wouldn't be shocked if it ended up scraping the west coast of Florida pretty badly.Originally posted by: Beavis
Not Again
The forecast Path and forecasted landfall point almost looks identical as Ivan, which Brought The Pittsburgh area Sh!tloads of rains last September, i ready for winter already.
