My in-laws live in Panama City (or very near there) and they reported in... a lost shingles is all they suffered.

CNN was way overboard..
the guy driving around in the Hummer H2 is an ass... They are calling it "Hurricane1" and he is chasing the storm.

My favorite moment in the broadcast was when they showed him standing on highway 82 when the storm surge was coming in and waves were breaking on the highway. Then they cut to the anchor desk where they had the guy from the national hurricane center and the first question they ask him something to the effect of "Do you think that people took this storm seriously and heeded you warnings to get out of it's path?" Hurricane center guy says something like "Absolutley, with the exception of one CNN reporter people have been evacuating and taking their saftey seriously."

Good Luke everyone in the panhandle, I am glad we dodged this one, I just bought a house only 10 minutes from where Charley Ransacked Port Charlotte last year. We were crapping our pants when Charley cames ashore. Not looking forward to another bad season but, holy hell it's only the first week of July.

Yeah, this does look to be a bad outlook to what's to come. Peek Hurricane season isn't until late August into September. Shiver me timbers - the sea's hold vengeance on us tonight.

Lol, did you guys see on the Weather Channel when Jeff Marrow was in Pensacola? Lol, I about laughed my pants off when he said, "Ooooh! It's hurting me!" when he was talking about the RAIN! Lol, the he lifted one of his legs up as if he were protecting his crotch. And the thing that's funny is that it wasn't even that bad where he was. Then you have Cantore over there in the middle of it not even wincing at all. He's going to give Marrow a hard time I bet when he sees him again!

Not much happened - lots of branches, and small debris covering everything, and right now I'm the only house on our street with power (new house that feeds off a different part of the grid).

I feel for those in Pensacola

It'll be interesting to see how things look tomorrow when they can get up in the air and take a broader view of things. No doubt there's going to be areas hit a lot harder than others, but from the early reports at least it doesn't sound like the damage was as widespread as it was with Ivan.

Yeah - one thing we got lucky was that there weren't as many tornados as with Ivan. Ivan spawned HUNDREDS of them

And I don't mean to jump ahead too quickly here...but if you look far off into the Atlantic, you will see newly formed Tropical Depression Five... . It's a long ways from the US, but just something to keep an eye on, for those of you in Florida/the Carolinas/maybe even the Gulf Coast..

gonna be a long summer. we're like in the September hurricane pattern but this is July. not many systems have formed so far out in the atlantic so early in the summer.

People are making such a big deal about this storm, when it's relatively weak, and its nothing compared to Ivan... It might be early in the season, but still, GET OVER IT already.

I'm in Tupelo in NE Mississippi (about 4 hours north of the coast). So far, the amount of rain and wind we got last night and today is minimal. It was much less than what we were expecting.
