adding to that, there is another tropical wave coming off the coast after emily.

i'd be willing to bet that there will be one after that as well

Scientist say that this will occur next year at roughly the same time period.

Interesting. But this year it seems to be happening earlier. Last year, we didn't start getting enemas from Mother Nature until late August! I thought for sure we would have the month of July off!

Hit Florida or something. I have a conference in Galveston next week...

No, my husband and I are going on our yearly anniversary trip to St Augustine and we won't be able to go if it is aiming for Florida, because either way we are screwed.

Texas NEEDS the rain!

All we in Central Kentucky heard for the last week was "The remnants of Dennis are going to hang around and give us some much needed rain and maybe finally end our drought." So far, we've only received light sporatic rain. Maybe Emily will do better...

Give it a couple of days to pick up energy when it arrives in the eastern carribean.

The Atlantic does not charge it up so much as the warmer shallow waters as it gets closer to to islands.
It's interesting you say that. In the official discussion for this storm, they note that Dennis actually pushed warm water farther out in the Altantic towards where Emily will be in a few days; conditions will be more favorable than usual for this storm.

No we dont, most of Texas had record rainfall last year, and normal rainfall year to date for 2005.

Some of the models have it hitting the Yucatan/Mexico, others have it making it to the open waters of the Gulf.

Dennis made my roof leak bad. I've been told it needs to be "RIPPED OFF" in order for insurance to cover it. THAT SUCKS

If it sneaks in between the Yucatan and Cuba and doesn't have land to slow it up, somebody is in for a world of hurt.

It's looking increasingly likely at this point that Emily won't find much time to strengthen, and is increasingly likely to hit the Yucatan Peninsula.

She just made a jump to 90mph winds, and is likely to be a major storm. It's going to be one to watch since it may still miss the Yucatan Peninsula.

If the storm manages to miss the Yucatan it will probably hit somewhere between Brownsville and Corpus Christi, and if it hits dead on on either of them they are in for a world of hurt.

Its looking possible, models are increasingly giving it a slightly more northward track, two models actually show it missing the yucatan and cuba. Its going to be a 3 by Sunday, even if it clips the Yucatan, it would still be a 3 or 4. If it misses land its probably going to be a 5.

Id say its probable it will hit Texas.

If that is true maybe I should add Galveston to that list...

Earlier today most of the models had it tracking across the southern part of the yucatan, now, most have it clipping the northern part of the yucatan. However hurricans are unpredictable. Id still say anywhere along the Texas coast is probable at this point.
