Yeah, a new update. And a new "Update processor support"... 4 in a row...

I hope that this motherboard supports some of the news Core 2 Duo...

My board revision is 206 (According to the site, it does't support Quads, but read above, looks like someone make it work).

Hi,

my Config:
Intel DG965WH
Corsair XMS 2GB Cl5 Kit 1,9V ->!
Core 2 Duo E6400

I have also the problem, that my computer isn't starting (only 3 Beeps --> sometimes). With only one Ram (1GB) module in Channel A the computer is working fine. I know about the Problem with 1,8V and 1,9V DDR2 800Mhz but I had this ram already in my old computer and i realy don't want to buy additional ram if possible.
Is there a possibility to solve this problem?

With the 965LT? Which "clock" did you select in clockgen?

Okay here is an update and also a quick question:-

Update: I have been using this board for quite a few months and all seems to be well except I did the stupid thing of upgrading the BIOS to the latest release and all hell broke loose on my PC. Firstly the USB ports became really hit and miss and my Wacom tablet kept on losing connection now and again. Tried to downgrade the BIOS to 1669 and it just would not update, ended up using the iso image from INTEL's site. Now I have downgraded the BIOS everything is stable and I certainly won't be upgrading for upgrading's sake. Release 1669 seems to be the most stable by far to me.

Question: Now to my question, when I first installed Windows XP x64 my ram showed up as 3.93gb and I didn't question this as I was using a silent video card with turbocache and thought that it may be something to do with that. Now I have ditched this card I am using a card with no turbocache and so I thought it would show the memory as a true 4GB. Unfortunatley this is not a case so I even tried a reinstall as there is not too much on my PC (used for music making) and it still shows as 3.93GB. I gather this may be something to do with a memory hole option but I cannot find one anywhere in the BIOS so any of you wonderful people got any ideas?

Regards

Adrian

I have an empty ATX box with older HD & optical drives & diskette.
I just want to bring up the system running first at lower cost, and upgrade
it as years to come.
http://www.intel.com/products/...oard/DP965LT/index.htm

I plan to buy the Intel DP965LT motherboard (NewEgg $95). The reason I
select DP965LT is because I can upgrade to Core 2 Duo as price comes down in
the future.

I plan to get the Pentium D 915 w/o fan (Fries $50). Then get the
coolermaster.com socket LGA775 XDreamP775 fan (Fries $18). Or should I get
this Pentium D 915 with fan at $85 (Fries & NewEgg) - Is
this fan integrated, comes from Intel? or NewEgg add the fan on later?

I will get the Crucial 1GB DDR2 533 (NewEgg $39).
Fries has DDR2 1GB PC5300 Crucial for sales at $19 with rebates.
I plan to use my old PCI VGA card. DVD writer will be external.

My question is:
1. does the Intel P965 chip set needs fan cooling? I think it already has a large heat sink.
2. This mb has only one Parallel ATA. Can I connect it to one HD and one
optical drive? Is one parallel ATA IDE a problem, because I have lots of drives.
3. is my current 300 watts ATX power with 20 pins connector, sufficient for
this minimal system configuration? Or, may need 20 to 24 pins converter.

Thank you.

Fries Electronisc has memory on sales, Crucial DDR2 1GB, PC5300, single module, 667MHz for 19.99 ($39.99 with $20 rebate).
In Crucial web site, all their 1GB DDR2 modules are 1.8V.
I asked the Fries guy and I got a "I don't know" answer.

I assume this Fries memory is 1.8V, right?

I want to avoid all these 1.9V problems with this md.

I actually selected to order from MWav:
Intel BOXDP965LTCK mb
Intel Celeron D 347 3.06GNz EM64T with Fan.
I order from MWav because they have this bundle assemble and test option for $9 - NewEgg doesn't.
I hope this is good option to make sure CPU+MB combo works.

Will try it out once it gets here. Will let you know what kind of questions I will have when I try to bring up the system.

Fingers cross....
