Hi,

I've got 1.25v reported on the 1.5v rail also... but an entirely stable system.

Whew, that's what I wanted to hear.

BTW, folks who are worried about not getting DDR2-800 over DDR2-667, every benchmark I have seen comparing the two and DDR2-533, show there is a very small gain with the faster memory, at most 2-3% if any at all. Given the price and scarcity of DDR2-800, it probably isn't worth the price/effort.

I think the biggest concern should just be the price of 1.8v DDR2-667 and DDR2-533; I bought a 2GB Kingston DDR2-667 kit a couple of weeks ago from newegg for $165, they want $199 for it now. Other makes/places have shown a similar bump, so I am glad I bought it then.

Almost offsets the fact that just about every other component I bought has dropped in price.

Well, I enjoyed the DP965LT while it lasted. I did memtest in dual mode last night and almost immediately started getting errors. I switched to single mode and tested each stick with no errors for 5 hours each. I retested again in dual mode at midmorning and had many errors within 15 mins of starting the test.
I called corsair and they told me that it was probably a something to do with the mobo memory controller since the sticks tested ok separately. I called intel and they confirmed the same and recommended to RMA the board.
I rma'd it ok, back to ZZF for a refund -15% and will sit back and read to make a decision on a new mobo.
I was pleased with the DP695LT despite the problems but doubt if i'll buy another.
Thanks for your help support and suggestions!!

I've just purchased this board. So far seems very stable. I've yet to stick a particularly beastly graphics card in though so still not sure how it performs games wise.

What I'd like to ask is does anyone know if the board is only able to control the CPU fan speed by PWM or can it control it by voltage as well. In my case I'm running the Zalman 9500 cooler on it but its a tad noisy at full speed. True I could use the included fanmate but it would be nice if the board could bump the speed up automatically if the temps get high.

PWM 4 pin coolers don't really seem all that common apart from the stock cooler that Intel usually includes.

Hi,

I'm getting reduced fan speeds out of the front and rear chassis fan headers (3 pin). I havn't checked this yet, but the only reason would have to be that their output voltage is under some sort of thermal control - and most likely the CPU temperature.

We could really use a proper manual for this motherboard...

I asked about the temperature listed in the bios as well as fan control on the mobo. they gave me a referecne number and a telephone number. The trouble is i'm +12 hours from their time zone. i could try calling the philipines number as i'm sure all the call go to a call center either here (pakistan) or india. but i could be wrong....

Just so you all know, I used to be a "Newegg only" person. Anymore Newegg is NOT the cheapest and in some cases doesn't come close to other sites. This mobo is available at Mwave for 109.00, even Mwaves prices on the core 2 duo's smoke the Eggster.

Anyone remember the good old days "not that long ago either" when you would spend 99 cents at Newegg an get a free shirt or whatever? Now you spend a grand and get nothing heh.

It is, if you are refering to me. I'm pointing out that since it seems everyone is waiting for Newegg to get em back in stock, that they are availble at other places for alot less and in stock.

Wow, reading all this make me feel lucky . I build 2 PC system on this boards and they both work like a charm. Both are core 2 duo e6600 with GoldRam pro sticks @800 Hhz.
Only problem so far when I tryed to change timeings on memory in BIOS and it wouldn't boot up system so I had to revert it with jumper.
Somone mentioned games, I have on it 7600GT video card and all games play fine with max detail on.

I have it working fine almost a month now so I was looking is there any way to clock speeds on CPU with this MBO. I'm not a clocker realy but wanted to test it some and see how it goes.

On the Intel 965 Express Chipset Family page however, there is version 8.1.1.1001 dated 8/21/2006 which says it works with the P965 chipset, which I assume means that it should work with this board also. Obviously the newer version would seem to be a better choice, assuming that it does in fact work with this board. So, has anyone successfully used the newer version or has everyone been using the version dated 5-31-2006?

Anyone have any feedback on this previous post? I'm building the system tomorrow and just wanted to check. If not, I'll just try the newer INF utility first and hope that it works.

Hi,

I think that if you read the whole thread the picture is rather different.

There is clearly a prblem with RAM - because of the 1.8V thing. With bios 1162 it seems the RAM voltage will autoselect to 1.8v or 1.9v.

This should make it possible to select RAM that is going to work.

Apart from RAM voltage, I think the experience here is that the hardware is fine, but we are waiting for Intel to release a bios and mobo software so that all the instrumentaion and tweaking fetures work. And fix th niggles, of course.

To be fair, Intel do seem to be taking these issues seriously, and responding fairly quickly.

If Intel had released this board last week with 1162 as its first bios, and Desktop Utilties downloadable within 10 days, I don't think you would have seen a single negative post... though there are still issues with 1162, they are containable.

###################################################

I agree 100% with Peter, I also think by the time all the issues with this board are finally worked out Intel will have released others. Over the weekend the price on the Core 2 Duo 6600 dropped by $30.00 and more at some places, so I sit and wait for this board to be worked out and in the meanwhile I watch my soon to be CPU pummel in price, which is a good thing. New is good, Buying as soon as it hits the streets rarely is Can't wait for Vista to be released and watch everyone bitch about it <snicker>.

On a side note "like anyone cares" I personally find this forum to be usefull. Unlike other forums where all you would see is "you shoulda got a AMD" etc. Nice job guys.

FWIW- I have been running this board with a E6300 and 2 gigs of Adata 667 Ram (chosen because i knew there wouldnt be compatibility issues). To date it has been incredibly stable.

I knew it wasnt going to be a leader in terms of features but I was put off other branches by the intitial local price gouging on competing mobos (US 250+ for other 965 boards).

Hi

I've noticed a cople of other things:

1. Booting from IDE device:
The Boot Order is not honoured properly. The Primary IDE device always takes prededance over the Secondary. It's hard to be certain, but the behaviour I observe is consistant with this:

Any reference to an IDE device in the Boot Order is treated as a reference to the IDE controller. If two IDE devices are attached their relative boot order will be Primary Device then Secondary Device.

I have circumvented this problem by making a DVD drive the Primary and the IDE system disk the Secondary - since this is the desired Boot Order.

2. Temperatures

The Bios shows too many temperatures. 6 in all. There should be 5 (assuming that there are two temperature readouts for the CPU - one per core).

Since one temperature readout is static (as mentioned before) and shows the same value on other DP965LT boards, it seems possible that this is actually a labelling problem i.e the ICH temperature should not be there, and the remaining 5 active temperature readouts should be:
Core 0
Core 1
MCH
ICH
Motherboard

I've had this motherboard for a few days and there's a peculiar quirk about it that's bothering me. When I power it up, all the fans will spin up to full for a few seconds and then everything turns off (including the case power LED). A few seconds later it will power up like it should. I've never seen a computer do this before. It behaves the same way with a different power supply. Memtest and Prime95 pass fine and it hasn't crashed once on me, so I'm not sure if it's something to be concerned over or not. Does this happen for anyone else?

Mine does it too. I'm not too worried about it.

An IDE drive? The board only has one IDE hookup so if you have an IDE optical drive connected as well, make sure both have their jumper set to Cable Select. If not, the hard drive may not be properly recognized.

I've been running the same mobo with Crucial 667 ram and so far, so good. My main box has an AMD(939) X2 3800, also with Crucial ram. I think that most people jumped on the Core 2 Duo bandwagon without reading the specs on the 965 chipset. I also think that mobo manufacturers, including Intel, rushed products out there that were(are) not feature complete. That being said, it's up to the end buyer to watch their own rear.

I'm running an IDE system disk and a DVD drive with the jumpers set to Master and Slave, no problem.

Admittedly, I didn't instal teh OS on the IDe drive, I installed it on a SATA and copied it to the IDE drive.

NAd the is the little matter of the strange boot orde I mentioned in an earlier posst.

But ther should be no problem installing an OS onto an IDE drive direct.

The Bios sees the CD drive. You can boot using it and install Windows. WIndows sees teh CD drive. But oakcdrom.sys says there are no CDs.

It works on every other machine I have ever built though. Intels own notes on building bootable DOS CDs tell you (indirectly) to use oakcdrom.sys. Is this a fault of the board or a chipset issue?

Peter

Has this issue been resolved. I'm also planning on using this mobo for the new system that I'm setting up but I'm a bit worried with all this problems. Also is there any other board you can suggest as a replacement to Dp965LT

Hi,

As far as I know this has not yet been resolved.

I suspect it will need a replacement for oakcdrom.sys, or an upgrade preferably. You really want a Bootable Floppy/CD that works on all PCs.

I'm having similar problems with Acronis, but I'm hopeful they will have this fixed within a week or so.
