Definately, theres plenty of people on AT who i would like to shoot in the head like that guy who badmouthed starcraft :frown: Just a reminder left 4 dead has friendly fire that cant be turned off.

Yeah I was really looking forward to getting it, but then I saw the $50 pricetag. I honestly was expecting the game to sell for $30, considering the entire Orange Box was $50. Now I'll probably wait until it gets cheaper.

Seems stupid to not offer it for $39 for three days on Steam, THEN raise the price to $44 after that time period. But, they are in business to make $$$, so I guess I will just suck it up and pay more.

Wonder when the Orange Box II will eventually show up with some additional content ??

As you may have read..I have some problems with this game as far as entertainment value vs Zombie panic (which is free if you own a source game)

I realized that valve is producing it...so it must be 100x better and that I would not regret buying it...but that was the game being priced a reasonable 29.99 the perfect pricepoint for someone like me..for a game such as this.

I too will be waiting till it hits the ~30 dollar mark.

Fortunately I can afford the pre-release discount $44.95 offer, so I purchased this last night.

I do hope it's a bit more enjoyable than Zombie Panic. That's a great mod, but it's not suited for everyone like TF2 is... you need real teamwork to win as a human, and the chances of everyone on a 20-man team having a brain is close to nil. Unfortunately, their lack of teamwork gives the zombies extra lives, so instead of just dying they make things a lot harder for you.

From what I can tell, L4D only supports 4 players? Can someone play as the AI Director, or no?

Wow, people are actually excited for this? It looks horribly repetitive and just plain dumb. It looks like there is nothing to it except killing horde after horde of zombies...

Because its your own team! You can shoot the stragglers or betray everyone close to the end and make a run on your own... Think of the gameplay possibilities, it would be just like something out of a movie, awesome stuff.

umm...half-life 2, DoD, CS?

HL2- best PC game ever made, top meta-critic score ever, tied with a 96 among several other titles,

counter-strike is still hugely popular, also, many high scores,

and day of defeat may not have been amazing, but is still achieved a score of 79-80 on metacritic, and it one of there less major titles, not to mention is was based on a mod team's work, and it is insanely fun game to play, if it doesn't look that nice.

Well see that's the thing, I read the Wiki and it said that after running you get to a designated area that you have to fight off the zombies and wait for help. So maybe killing off someone wouldn't be a good idea since you're going to need all the help you can get in the end to get rescued.

Also McDonald's is good. I don't know why it gets all the bad press. It's just cool to hate McDonald's.

Why is that amazing? Do zombies continue attacking corpses or something (this is a real question)? Otherwise, I can do that in other fps's too, it's either called griefing or plain tk'ing depending on the situation.

It would be different each time in that your teammates would be different and the levels would be different each time. I'm not sure how much fun that would be though. $45 worth of it?

From my observations thus far people are either really excited about this game, or not at all. There aren't too many people in between. I'm one of the ones excited about it. It's been a long time since any (IMO) good coop FPS's were released. I love joining a game with people I know. One of my fav. coop games of all time was serious sam: second encounter and L4D would be hard-pressed to be more repetitive, especially since I'm hearing that the characters in L4D react differently upon each situation revisited and on the current circumstances in the game. If the game is fun (which Im 90% sure it will be) I'll be getting it.

Heck, you want repetitive? I played CS 1.6 for 6 years on maybe 10 different maps and still have a blast when i hop on now...
