Son of a BITCH. IW's Host Migration pisses me off so much sometimes. I'm 11-2, have a ~@!$ing Chopper Gunner AND a Care Package waiting in the wings, one kill to a Predator, and the stupid host quits (probably dashboarding because the current game doesn't support his 2:1 goal). Then HM kicks in... waiting... waiting... DROP.

Host Migration maybe works 50% of the time.

Of course, dedicated servers would fix that BS, but noooo.......

I just had my first 30+ kill flawless game the other day on PC.
Was on Scrapyard, TDM.
I rushed in the beginning and just started out on a rampage, getting almost all of my team's kills and it was just carnage from the very beginning. Kept rushing spawns/stopping to deploy killstreaks until the very end when I started chatting with my friend lol via steam friends. Pred-->Harriers-->Pavelow.
No Chopper Gunner. I'm proud about that .
I played it conservatively (read - let my pavelow do the work for me) once I hit 27 kills, which was my old record. I ended up going 32-0 in TDM lol. Got the game-winning kill cam too. It's generally easier get high scores in objective game modes if you're just going for kills, so yeah, I'm happy that I did mine in TDM, not ground war either. So I almost got half the team kills and didn't even die once

I was running the ever-so-common silenced UMP class.

When the opposite team has UAV or air support up I just switch to cold blooded and continue to own, or on campy maps I'll slap on SP. I've experimented with rapidfire on the UMP and love how fast it kills, but I've had mixed results overall...I think I'm too used to playing with a silencer.

It's always fun when you completely run out of ammo for both of your guns and have to go on a mad scavenge for a random gun lol. Actually that's one of the things I love most. Killing a ton of people and using up all of the ammo in your primary and/or secondary, picking up a new one that's often completely different and continuing to do the same.



I've actually used this class ever since I started playing, basically the majority of the time. I remember a while ago I barely ever saw another UMP user. Nowadays, I notice that it's become really, really common and it's popular with the pro's as well. Doesn't really matter to me, and honestly the UMP has struck me as one of the harder guns to use. Anything after 3 bullets and there will be some kick, and if you're unlucky you'll have double recoil in the upwards direction which will throw your aim off. I've learned to compensate by now, but yeah. It's not as easy as the point + shoot assault rifles (ACR, SCAR, M4, TAR to a certain extent) or even other low-recoil smgs. It's outshot at longrange by assault rifles and snipers and at close range you generally get cleaned up by secondaries or other guns with a higher RoF, so, no, I don't find the UMP45 unbalanced. It's more of a jack-of-all-trades because its so well rounded, but it doesn't excel in any particular area. Without stopping power it takes noticeably longer to kill at SP's range because landing that 3rd bullet can be tricky because of lag/opponent's evasive maneuvers. At the same time lightweight is almost a necessity because of how fast you can get the drop on people in head to head confrontations, where the UMP will often lose otherwise because of its slow RoF (if the person you're facing is any good). If only I could use SP and Lightweight at the same time....oh man beast.

My KD started off at .7 and is now 2.1 and rising every time I play lol. Definitely was tough initially getting into CoD for the first time - but once you learn the maps and improve your gun skills its quite fun. I do quit mid-game but that's usually due to frustration from some of the 'lamer' tactics in the game, or just random bull/silly mistakes that make me want to join a new game instead.


Anyways I have mixed feelings about the DLC. I barely play DLC 1 right now because of the playlist that it's in. I want integrated playlists where we get to choose game type - IW, make it work. It really can't be that difficult, we already paid $15. $30 worth of DLC for a $60 game is very bad in my book, and this is coming from an avid MW2 player.


Oh and I should probably get around to prestiging sometime. Thing is, there is only one thing I will miss above all else. And that is: cold blooded. Can't play without it ):


I can't wait till I get my new rig and actually start getting FPS at a 1920x1080 without random dips to the 30s, should bode well for me. Also I should be able to start frapping my games, it should be really fun. I feel like I've gotten some decent montage moments but I have no proof at all -_- and even if I don't release it to the general public, it'd always be a fun little side project for myself.

Tell me about it. I was in a match where I had an AC-130 up..my buddy had a nuke that he was holding on to, and the mf host dash boarded. I felt bad cuz I told him not to nuke till my ac-130 was done...sucked.

Also, I've been using a tac-knife class...and I have to admit that it's incredibly effective. Almost too effective in the hands of the right player that knows how to navigate and flank properly. The problem with tac knife is that you don't have to reload. It's running and gunning with out the need to reload. I've gotten 11 straight kills en route to a nuke with this class. That's just ridiculous. All I do is run around, stab stab stab, run from someone trying to kill me, end up at enemy spawn and stab some more.

I think yesterday was the day for good games and shoddy teams. I had a game on Estate where the 2nd-place guy on my team and myself were 47-22 combined, while the other four were 20-44. We won 6700-6600. Entirely too close for how I was playing.

After I partied up with some friends, I had a nice 21-0 game on Skidrow. I spawned on the Ranger side and decided to try sniping, even though I've been terrible at it lately. I set up in the apartment overlooking the playground with my Intervention. Had a few claymore kills and more sniper kills. I somehow got 4 guys with a Stealth Bomber, I don't know how. That's the best Stealth Bomber strike I've ever had.

Out of the dozen or so matches that I've had host migrate on me, one dropped. (On 360) So, not 50% of the time.

I see... so your anecdotal experience trumps mine. BRILLIANT!

Allow me to spoon-feed you my point: Host migration should be far more reliable than it is, as other games employ it to much greater success.

I agree with this. For some odd reason, MW2 is overly sensitive to whatever type of broadband networking each individual is using (I don't know a better way to describe it than that). I don't know how their netcode is set up, but it stinks. I haven't had that many games drop on me (maybe 10% of migrations), but I've never been in your particular position when the game has dropped, either. I've been in the middle of Predator & Harrier strikes when hosts quit and had them basically disappear, but those are a bit easier to get back than a chopper gunner.

I guess what I'm saying is this: migration is a toss-up and frustrating, and that frustration is compounded when killstreaks are on the line.

Yeah, one thing that truly sucks is that during host migration, killstreaks continue to run. So while the rest of the game is frozen, the timer on your AC130 is still ticking.

I hate getting disconnected.For example yesterday me and 3 of my buddies were playing Team Tactical CTF on Rust and in the second round we're going 28-1.
I was capping evry flag and being level 5 4th prestige i was levelling up like crazy.
Then i disconnect and lose all my points...My buddies went on to win 34-1 so it wasnt so bad...

Hey guys I'm a newbie at FPS gaming. What's the best tip to improving your aim in the game? Yeah I know practice practice practice. Im located in a place where my pings are horrible and the game frames. Sometimes it does work well but the other players are all too good for me. What's the best way to master the aim offline? I finished the campaign in the easy level.

If you've got crappy ping you're pretty much out of luck, the game is very reliant on quick movements and hitting a moving target, hard to do with bad ping.

Yep. I'm sitting at 52 or 53 on my 5th prestige right now. I'll finish this one up over the weekend, then on to #6!

Played one game this morning before work, still no double XP although I did knock out my RPD Thermal Sight in one game.

wtf is with the map rotation today. Salvage keeps coming up constantly... quite literally every other map.

My rotation consisted of Overgrown every other map, Scrapyard every 3rd or 4th map, and Storm and Salvage filling the holes between those. I played for about 3 hours with some friends last night, and in those 3 hours, we played Karachi, Bailout, Rundown, Crash and Skidrow once each, with the rest being Overgrown/Scrapyard/Storm/Salvage. And the way we play, games don't usually last 7 minutes, much less 10. Lots of games, not many maps. It was pretty annoying.

Interesting...I'm noticing the same thing. Mostly new maps + scrapyard. I got highrise one last night, and it seems like it's been so long since I've played that map.
