The TAR-21 does the same damage as the SCAR-H, but they differ in other ways:
- TAR-21 has a drastically higher fire rate, similar to the M4 except with more powerful bullets. Thus it has very high damage per second.
- The SCAR-H's sights are a fair bit better.
- The TAR-21 has a 30-round magazine rather than 20.
- The TAR-21 has a lot more recoil.
Yeah, the TAR-21 is one of those ARs that you have to use sort of like an SMG. Don't use it at extremely long ranges because you won't hit anything. It's probably best used in conjunction with Steady Aim (so you can hipfire at close range reasonably accurately without having to use the so-so iron sights) and Cold Blooded (it doesn't really need a damage boost since it's already basically a rapid-fire SCAR).
The only advantage to the horrible red dot sight is that it doesn't go out when you're hit with an EMP. Big whoop, right? I almost never get EMP'd. But you do have to use it in order to unlock the holographic sight.
