MW2's spring DLC to have one-month exclusivity window
Springtime will add new multiplayer content to Modern Warfare 2 (hopefully a better online patch, too), and this week the previously announced exclusivity period for Xbox LIVE has been specified in more detail. The limited time deal was confirmed during the content's announcement back at E3 2009.
Speaking to Eurogamer, Microsoft has revealed that when the two content packs release in the next few months, there will be a 30-day period during which they will be available only to Xbox 360 players. After that it's multiplatform as usual.
"We have a 30-day timed exclusive on the Modern Warfare content packs. So it will be available on other platforms, but you get to try and play on Xbox 360 first."
No word just yet on what "spring" translates to, but it's safe to say it'll be prior to the end of May. Likewise there isn't any official details on what we're looking at regarding these pieces of DLC. A video posted online a few weeks ago claimed to show new maps that had briefly appeared on MW2's servers, but were not playable. Said video was yanked by Infinity Ward who banned the uploader, and claimed that the content was depicted was "not yet released and was not intended to be for a substantial amount of time."
Apparently there would be a batch of new maps ("Abandon," "Compact," "Complex," "DCWH," "Revolt," and "Storm"), as well as a batch of returning favorites from Call of Duty 4 ("Shipment," "Vacant," "Overgrown," and "Crash"). Infinity Ward haven't confirmed or denied anything.
