I regularly go 25-6 one game and 4-12 the next. Inconsistency is my game

I just realized the concentration of Alabamians in this thread is unusually high.

I'm not from Alabama, but my mother's entire extended family relocated from West Virginia and NJ to the Montevallo area years ago.

That's just South of me, I took my motorcycle BRC there a few years ago at the University.

I am not from Alabama originally (thankfully). Just stationed here.

I had the day off yesterday and I was the same way. If I picked up the game yesterday and started playing my kill ratio would be sitting at around 4.5:1 after yesterday. Even with over 10,000 kills I raised my kill ratio from 1.92 to 1.99 in about 3 1/2 hours. I had a 22-0 game on Rundown, and I didn't have a single game where I was less than a 3:1 kill ratio, usually it was between 5:1 and 7:1.

Favorite moments included getting a 4 man multikill to open up a match on Quarry (fired a Javelin at the fuel tanks on the top of the hill, guess they'd all decied to run that way) and trying to finish off my AC-130 challenge on Karachi. My setup was Predator/Harriers/AC-130. Twice I got to 10 kills and died. The last time I finally got to 11 and called my AC-130 and literally the plane went up in the air and every single one of the guys on the other team was camping that exposed bridge area with the tunnel behind them (and it spawned me looking straight at them). I fired once and only got one kill...because we hit the score limit. Had it not I would have killed at least 5 with my first shot. Ended up 33-2 on that one.

I also decided to try using the M9 pistol on my MP5K setup (which I only use on 2 maps). At one point I decided to stop using my main weapon and just use it, I'm at 67 kills with it now. I actually outsniped a sniper with it on Derailed (he aimed right at me, I aimed back across the map and fired slowly and killed him).

Yeah you get it from knifing someone else that has it. I believe the developers were the only ones that originally had it. I think infected you get from shooting someone or being killed by someone that has it.

You get "STD" from knifing someone who has it.

You get "infected" by being knifed by someone who has it. So once you get infected, you can go on a spree giving it to other people.

They must have hit some sort of tipping point with them. I got STD the other day, and got infected the next.

Kabob - I did see that version of the chart and it was posted much more recently than the one I had, so I trust the new one. I noticed these differences:

FAL damage is 55-35, not 50-35.
FAL multipliers are identical to other ARs, not 1.5x for headshots + 1.1x for chest shots. There are no neck shots in MW2, just head, chest, stomach, and limbs.
M93 Raffica does 40-30 damage, not 40-20.
M9 Beretta does 40-25 damage, not 40-30.

These are not huge differences though. And we still don't know for sure what the ranges are. I am pretty sure that in COD4, the USP had a much longer range than the M9, so even though it had less bullets and had the same damage values, it usually did more damage anyway. There could be a lot of similar things going on in this game. I am also pretty sure that most ARs had the same range as each other, but SMGs had differing values. Same could apply to MW2. A weapon that looks good on paper might not be.

Anyway, I think the real point is to just keep in mind some basic stats (like which ARs do more damage than others) but just use what you're good with.

I've used the USP and M9 in MW2 and I've not noticed much of a difference. Realistically the M9 should have better range but lower damage up close and visa versa because of the different calibers, but I don't think that IW took any sort of realism into account when assigning damage values (a .308 round from a 20" SCAR or FAL should do double the damage of a .223 from a 14.5" barrel'd TAR).

So you're saying the newer one is correct or does anyone actually know?

I have no clue which one is correct, I'm just saying that I trust the newer one a little more than the old one because it's newer. I am not sure if anyone knows yet. Even if someone digs into the game files on the PC version, there are occasionally some differences between the PC and console versions.

I can try to add everyone who wants to my friends list and get it going tomorrow night. The only guy here on my friends list is Kabob now.

actually, i prefer the rule set where nobody shoots me but they all stand around in the open so i can rack up kills. or domination.

If everyone wants to add the friend "AnandTech Gaming" to their XBL accounts you can use the Friends of Friends feature to find each other. My friends list is just about filled up as it is.

As for special rules I say don't bother. If someone is using dual 1887's I'm sure we'll all have fun berating them. And we can mix and match game modes as we please so lets not set it in stone. We may want to start with TDM and move to CTF or Domination or who knows.

Wetworks is beastly! My friend and I spent 17 minutes on it in one go. We got to the second breach, but since we didn't know what to expect they killed a hostage and it was mission failed. The best thing to do is to take it extremely slow, at one part we actually sprinted as fast as we could away from the guys so that we could ambush them when they came down the stairs.

I completed most of Spec Ops with a friend, and Wetworks gave us a lot of trouble despite the lack of Juggernauts. I think it was mostly because we'd have a good run and mess up towards the end (there were a couple of times where we failed at the last breach--so frustrating!) which would be completely demoralizing. That, and we'd eventually get impatient and start to goof off, and do things like breach with the AT4.

I'd probably be in for a Saturday night match. My gt is t12beast. If I'm gonna go 5-10 like I have been recently I might as well die by the hands of some people I respect.

Private matches don't affect your stats so no worries there :awe:
