Probably. But his influence in the dynamics of MP was invaluable.

To the extent that he was in touch with the community and could communicate back and forth between us and the devs, sure. IMO he did a really good job, you could get a lot of good tidbits of info via his twitter feed, pretty rare from what I've seen. But anyone competent is capable of replacing him as long as they have the stomach and the patience for it. Him leaving hardly changes the direction of the series, probably less than any individual out of the dozens who left to form respawn.

If it was that easy, most other companies would do it. You see community managers come and go in the gaming industry, quite frequently. There was something about 402 that made him appeal internally and externally.

The budget/resources they dedicate to cod is the key. No other game/series can really justify a full time public face, they usually just let the devs fill in as needed. He seemed to have pretty free reign, the time to do it and probably more important than anything else, he actually seemed like he played the hell out of the game and really cared how it turned out. Fans could sense that.

I dunno...I just doubt there's a shortage of personable people who play cod hardcore and can handle the scorn and abuse of being the public face of it. That's a pretty low bar of entry.

I liked what he did. He listened but I'm pretty sure he gave them the bird figuratively and left. Don't blame him a bit. Someone will replace him shortly.

I am going to miss what he did. I liked getting info about the game/ELITE from his twitter. He even answered me once about something. Kind of nice that he tried to talk to the community as much as he did.

Figured I'd post this here rather than necro the old threads. Over the last couple of days I went back and played some COD4 and MW2 multiplayer on the 360 to compare against what I'm seeing now in MW3. I owned both of the games for different systems (PC and PS3, respectively) when they were first released but didn't play MP.

First, I was amazed at how the COD4 graphics look when compared to MW3, even though the hardware in the 360 has not changed - it's impressive that the game developers have been able to squeak out ever-improving graphics and performance on the same system.

Second of all, the sound dynamics have improved greatly. For the short time I played it, MW2 sounds like I'm shooing a pellet gun into a tin can. Choppers are different too. Choppers in COD4/MW2 sound like a constant buzz when their machine guns blast, and I have a harder time telling where they're shooting from. MW3 has improved upon both greatly, as I feel like the gunshot sounds are more realistic.

Third, I was surprised at how many newbies are playing both games...way more than I ever run into in MW3. I expected to play against maxed-out 10th prestige players who've been constantly playing the games the last few years, but was pleasantly surprised to be playing against people the same level as me or a bit higher.

Anybody else still go back and play these two games?

Uggh...well more marathon playing will come this weekend I am sure. Last night wasn't that great...room mate and I were getting raped in almost every match. Our pings were terrible, not sure what was going on. Had a hard time finding a good server last night.

I just played MW3 on my friends Xbox 360 and it was pretty damn fun. I'm wondering:

1)How is MW3 on the PS3?

2)If i buy this game, am i just gonna get screwed because a new one comes out? I.e., when does the new one come out, typically?

3)If i buy used, will i have to buy an online pass?

Thanks...i'm trying to play BF3 and all i can do is SP since im renting it...but it seems not that fun and a little slow for some reason.

1) Fun. I never played MW3 on the 360, but I do on PS3. I can't imagine it being much different.

2) The next COD game will prob come out around Nov this year, so you still have a while to play MW3.

3) Not sure what exactly you are referring to with "online pass", but
a) It's free to play online with PS3 via Playstation Network
b) You can sign up for a free COD: Elite account if you wanted to (not required)
c) You can sign upgrade to a Premium COD Elite account which costs $50/year

Ps3 is virtually identical to 360.

People play older cods for years....blops, mw2 and mw1 are still amongst the top 20 games on XBL.

And no, no online passes or any of that BS to play online.

Yeah I can barely keep up. I still haven't completely figured out that huge outdoor map with the downed jet. Really enjoy Overwatch, and Liberation, though.

Good lord it's hard to find a used copy of this (on the forums anyway). I guess I'll just buy it new. Are there any plans for a goty version?

You should show her this as testament to the fact you'll never cheat on her lol.

Haha, that, and the fact that her dad was in the U.S. Army for over 30 years.

With Blackbox on TDM-modes, you want to rotate around the outer edges of the map. I like Assassin and Dead Silence with a silenced weapon, because inevitably people camp in the construction house or penthouse with sniper rifles. Stay out of ANY line of sight. They especially like to camp at the back of the airplane and the demolished building in that back corner of the map (near A-dom).

New maps suck.. MW3 with all the elite BS is starting to fade on me. Don't know what it is, but I'm having a hard time getting a get sit in through on this game lately.
