Yeah, but the problem is that it completely takes you out of the game. You might be putting them on the radar for your team, but you're also basically putting yourself in a penalty box and giving the other team a power play. Its really useful in s&d, but I think you're overall doing your team a disservice by taking a player off the field in any other game type.

Unless you're one of the guys that dies alot. Then, you might be doing the team a favor by sitting out.

For objective based games I will mostly agree.

For TDM, it's not always a bad thing to be down 5 players to 6.

Yeah. It really does depend on whether or not you're a benefit or a detriment to your team by being on the field. Otherwise a UAV is way more useful.

I only use it while playing dom. While I am using it, I am telling my teammates where they are coming from and how many. It has helped us save, defend or even cap a point.

I wont use it in a TDM or even KC because you really arent doing any good with it for those types of games.

Does anyone know if there is a way to hear my own voice through my PS3 headset/mic?

Having headphones on makes it hard to hear my own voice so naturally I will want to speak louder even though it's completely unnecessary.

I'm googled some and looked through PS3 settings but haven't come up with anything. It may just not be an option through the PS3.

I think I may have read some headsets like the Turtle Beach ones offer that function.

I know I've mentioned this before but it annoys me so much when people play objective game types like domination and they don't help out. They are just trying to get their kills. I've been playing with a few friends and having people interested in actually winning really helps.

Same here. Ive had games of dom where a guy will do nothing but camp a corner no where near any of the points. I also hate when people will play objective games and not really understand how they work.

Turtle Beaches have the feature, they call it "Mic Monitoring" It is just a tiny bit of audio so that you know you are heard.

Any gaming headset worth it's salt will have this. Depending on your budget and the seriousness of your gaming you can check out several brands.

My very first headset was Turtle Beach X11. They have a newer model out now called the X12. There are a lot of models to choose from for them and other vendors.

Astro and Triton are two other vendors. I love my Astros. I can soundwhore people in SnD all day long with them.

When it comes to gaming headsets you get what you pay for.

Saffleur, thanks for the info.

After some more research, I realized my PS3 stereo wireless headset does not include that mic monitoring feature (crossing fingers they update in a firmware or something). That's the only feature that I feel is missing. Other than that, the headset is really nice.

I'll look into those turtle beaches. Thanks.

Im new to cod .. playing MW3 for a month now ...
also new to xbox ..

I noticed that the walking guys sound is very low ... i used to play many FPS games ... i can decide if there is an enemy to the left or right .. but i find its hard with MW3 ... the sound is very low .... ( with max volume on headset and xbox) ... is it normal ? because all other games on xbox are good like gears of war and halo ...

There is a perk that makes enemy footsteps louder. I think it is the pro version of Sit Rep.

I never have this issue because I have what's called an open type of headset. My setup is a little unique. I use an Astro unit to transmit sound wirelessly from my 360 to my couch. I don't have an Astro headset though. I use a Logitech one that I just plugin and since it's an open-air design, I can hear myself talking.

Yeah, which is why I really wish they kept caps on the scoreboard like in blops. Still, it's a lot better than MW2 - people using the support streaks don't have to fear death, and even the assault guys jump in for the point. There's definitely some poor teamplay here and there, but it's not ridiculous like it was in mw2.

Randomly happened to check the lobby leaderboard while I was waiting for a match to start yesterday and saw that one of the other players was ranked in the low 200s in TDM and his friend was in the 300s. Easily two of the highest ranked players I've played with.

Ive got a buddy who is in the top 100 in HQ. Last I checked he was 94th and 2230 in overall kills. He needs a life.

I used to get a little nervous when seeing these high level guys playing. But, after playing a few matches with them, they usually are just guys that play the game a TON...If they aren't in a party, I can keep up with them.

But, if its a bunch of high level people in a party, I'll back out/throw my xbox out the window.

PLAY MERCENARY.

Why do people play modes where people can party up? All you're asking for is to be abused. The other day I was playing w/ Kabob and a few others from AVS and we were totally dominating. Someone was playing split screen on the other team and I believe they were like a combined 1 and 58. If I play in the Mercenary lobby, I'm generally #1 or #2 on the winning team - good players have that much influence.

It sort of depends for me. I will play regular death match usually because there is a better chance I'll get a better ping. But you're right -- I play mercenary as well.

Yup this is what I do. 99% of the time I"m partied up with AVS guys but when I'm not, it's mercenary all the way. It's much, much, much less frustrating.

Yeah...I wish they would bring back mercenary mosh pit from blops. I want to play modes other than TDM, KC and DOM without being brutalized by parties.

Any news on the dates for maps? Ive seen some screen shots but have yet to see when they are coming out. And I think its about time for a double XP weekend now that the mountain dew thing is done.

It feels so good to own a whole team in ground war on your own though.. haha. I joined a lobby and was thrown into a team full of noobs, and the other was a full squad. Luckily it was a TDM match. Went 31-1, and got to my Osprey gunner to help out the sqaud a little. Other team called me a cheater and hack and stated that they would report me for being a jtagger or whatever. I didn't have my mic on, so I didn't care and proceeded to dominate them all 1 more time before I left the lobby.. lol.

Jan 24 is the first elite only drop. So the peasants will get their first pack a month or two after that.

Does it say how many or should we be ready for the typical 5? Maybe link?

The only hard info is that it's more than just maps. The only map they confirmed is one themed on NYCs central park.
