Wow, I can't believe Weber got nothing. Shanahan really needs to resign after the season; he's lost control of his job.

Maybe he's been so stung by critics who say he's not as impartial as he should be that he saw this as an opportunity to "balance the scales".

Its the playoffs, that didn't warrant a suspension. Shanahan has done a fantastic job, if anything he would have bias for the Wings, not against them.

I didn't realize you meant it that way. He hasn't shown bias IMO at all.

I guess I just completely disagree on the job he's done. I watch the NHL network and he explains everything in detail on every suspension, making it very clear why he has handed out the suspension. I have agreed on nearly all of them, he has missed a few - but he certainly hasn't effed really any of them up

Just my opinion.

Bottom line is, he isn't going anywhere anytime soon

Both of those are skating issues. I've had that happen to me, you're on millimeter thick blades, it's bound to happen. I'm no apologist by the way, if they dive, I'll say it.

Kesler falling was obviously legit by the way he and Richards were tangled up, but with the amount of theatrics he added he was trying to get a call. Also, "for a man his size he falls down a lot," loooool. Sedin's looked semi-legit but I believe he was looking to the refs after that one, but that may have been another late 3rd period dive--I'm not sure.

Shannahan has always said injury is a big key when making his determination, which I agree with. In this case, it was during the play – not after like with Shea Weber – and the other guy is hurt.

After the play stuff you see all kinds of stuff, even a few falcon punches thrown in there

The biggest problem with what Weber did was the use of the glass as a weapon. The NHL has traditionally allowed anyone to plow into someone's face with their fist, but the use of anything that could be construed as a weapon is looked down on even if the damage done or could have been done is minor. A player could remove their helmet and swing it down on an opponent's helmeted head and it would likely never cause an injury, yet I imagine it would bring a suspension. Sticks, crossbars, the glass, skates, or the ice are just are not allowed to be used.
Isn't this why so many hold a grudge against Bertuzzi, because it could be perceived that he used the ice as a weapon?

I think 2 is good. I can see it from his perspective though. He's a 4th line guy who went out to make a hit and pump up the energy level. He saw his opportunity and went in with his elbow down for a clean hit. As he committed the angles changed and he was going straight for the head with the glass right there.

It's not like he targeted the head and intended to injure. He was committed to the hit and just had nothing else to hit. It was either a head hit or a bail out. He should have bailed.
