Wow.

What a game.

SJ is surely the most physically talented team in the NHL - big, fast, strong, and deep.

But when the Hawks got their game on SJ looked absolutely helpless. For long stretches of the game.

After this one I would be shocked if the Hawks don't win the cup. This looks like a team that finally knows it can beat anyone.

The Hawks are something else right now, that is for sure. They are just wearing down SJ with their 4 lines, constantly setting the pace and making the 1/2 lines for SJ play way more. I'm not sure SJ is gonna have an answer for the Hawks.

lol the Habs are in deep doo doo. did Lappy play? i didn't even see the highlights except for a couple snippets of the game. watched Lost and then V. i have the game tivo'd... i'll watch some of it tonight for sure.

No Lappy yet... but I'm not counting out Montreal yet, especially after Philly's comeback. However, it's pretty much do or die for them in Game 3. They lose that game and it would be the miracle of miracles to beat the team that just did it to someone else.

3 guys that will be playing their asses off will be Gagne, Giroux, and Briere... they're from Quebec so it's basically a homecoming for them. Gagne grew up a Nordiques fan and said it was always his dream to beat rival Montreal in the playoffs but didn't get to do it a couple years back due to injury.

Morale in the Habs' locker room can't be great right now. They outplayed the Flyers for about half the game last night and came away empty. Reminds me of the last couple weeks of the regular season, where the Flyers were fighting to keep a playoff spot. Outplayed Montreal for 55 minutes, but lost 1-0.

The VS color guy had me laughing. Earlier in the game, he referred to the net (on Gagne's goal) as the "onion basket" which I haven't heard in years. Then, after Leino scored the 3rd goal, he just let the Habs have it.

"I mean, that was terrible. Yeah, good work by Leino and all, but Halak looked like he was just never set."
"What's he even doing out there?" when Halak almost fell backwards into his own net, away from the play.
"This team is done." Mid way through 3 when the Habs are just gliding around out there.

Some of the best color commentary I've heard on VS these playoffs. It's usually a lot more sterile than that.

He is beyond dirty. That second slash on Bolland should have resulted in at least a double minor. I wouldn't have been surprised at all if he got a 10 minute major for that one. The puck never even left the ref's hand. Had it been anyone with less of a name, they would have gotten the 10 and been tossed.
What a scumbag.

He's frustrated. He knows his team can play up to the Hawks caliber, if not better. Sharks need to do something, and fast. Also, Nabakov lets in some softies.

Yeah I was laughing a lot too... especially when Halak just fell backwards on his ass and took his sweet time getting up. Dude, the puck's in your zone, may want to get up!

The VS guy also said something in the 1st period about the Flyers being the team with their "tail in the air". Huh? What does that even mean? That they're the lead dog?

He said something else that made me laugh, I'll ask my buddy if he remembers. That guy is pure gold.

Not to get ahead of ourselves here but just read that the only time Philly has gone 2-0 to start a playoff series were: 1974, 1975, and now 2010. Trying.not.to.connect.dots!

The tail in the air quote was awesome. I still have no idea what that means, but it was gold.

When he just deadpanned, "This team's done." I almost lost it. You don't hear announcers say that much.

Holy molly! Great victory for the Habs today! Go Habs go! I still think that the Flyers are one of the most dangerous teams that the Habs can play against even in the regular season, I would have still preferred to see the Habs go against the Bruins, but with a victory against the Flyers like the one they've had today it gives me good hope that they can do it until the end.

Well, the desperate team won... I predicted the Habs would take this one. No way they were going down 3-0 in their own house and I'm actually glad they showed up. Philly will make the needed adjustments and we'll see what happens Friday night.

Disallowed goal by Pavelski. VS says it's cause he didn't cheer, had nothing to do with the fact it was 'kicked'. The WAR room went "wait a minute... he's not cheering!"
