Well, another loss unfortunately... but holy shit was that one awesome game of hockey.

/agreed, the Flyers showed a ton of improvement. Keeping Buff, Kane, and Toews from any points is a fantastic achievement in itself that San Jose (and every team Chi has played) had failed to do. Philly dominated the 3rd and even though they didn't score another goal they'll win every game in Philly if they can keep it in that gear.

PS: Teams that go up 2-0 are 31-2 in the Finals. Funny thing is that Philly has beaten a million to one odds already so this series isn't over until the final second of the clinching game. I have a feeling that the Bruins series wasn't the last time we'll see Broad Street fight back.

Chris Pronger must love to be hated. He got into an exchange with Ben Eager after the game ended and it was over him picking up the pucks and throwing them in the garbage.

lol, what a miserable fuck. Can you imagine Scott Stevens or Ray Borque doing that?

Delusional much? The Blackhawks are certainly not the Bruins. The Hawks play even better on the road than they do at home. As much as I would love a sweep, I see a split in Philly (hopefully breaking the record for most road wins in a row in the process) and then the Hawks taking the cup in game 5.

Kane and Toews not being on the scoring sheet just means that the Philly D has been really good against them and the Hawks haven't played their best game yet. They had a lot more chances to score on Monday though.

+1 that NBC's coverage sucks. I hate it when the games are on there instead of VS or CSN.

I'm looking for a bit more out of Keith... I didn't see game 1 but I thought he looked surprisingly average in Game 2 for a guy who is arguably the best defenseman in the league right now.

The Hawks haven't played in Philly yet

Yep Philly D has locked down Kane/Toews/Buff. Pronger is playing some great hockey and frustrating Buff. It's the lower lines that have been killing Philly, Richard's line can play much better than they have.

Last, you didn't deny that Philly owned the 3rd period. When they want to ramp it up they will, but they usually start slow and never play well in the 1st period. Baffling really. Niemi wasn't really challenged with top shelf, quality shots off crisp passing which Philly needs to get back to.

My grandparents from Chicago are down for a bit. Both of them brought their Blackhawks garb and want to go to a sports bar during a game. Should be a riot... hopefully not literally.

Saturday night for game 1, we decided to go out to a sports bar. My Grandpa was feeling all of his 90 years of age so he stayed home, my grandma was game for it though. So, me in my Winter Classic sweater, my grandma in her away sweater, my sister and mother in hawks hats arrive at the joint to much jeering. The Flyers fans were not overly mean and my grandma was certainly egged them on the whole time (she is a fiesty lady). Since this was game 1, it was a seesaw of points and boos from the Flyers fans half the time followed by boos from us half the time.

UNFORTUNATELY, unknown to either fan groups, the bar runs UFC fight night at 10 regardless of other events going on. When the TV's were changed for 2nd period intermission, lots of bitching started. All I wanted was for the owners to let us know WAY ahead of time that this was going to happen. At no time were we told that we would be cut off for this. I shook some Flyer fans' hands as I walked out as we wished for a good series. We raced home, listening to the game on AM radio, and finished the game at home.

I did tell the manager that I will never frequent this game for a sporting event again for fear of some program change mid game. He promised me that game 2 would be uninterrupted, to which I said "sure" and walked out.

No, we haven't played in Philly yet, but we did sweep the Sharks, who have one of the harder stadiums to play in and something tells me that Vancouver is no slouch either.

I think the reasons why Philly had an edge in the 3rd are that they were desperate and had a couple of power plays to start the period off. If there is one thing the Hawks are bad at it is sitting back and protecting a lead. They play much better when they have a lead and try to aggressively increase it. I don't think they did that last night and it's a good thing that Niemi came up big.

I'm not saying that Philly is a bad team or that they won't win a game or 2. Based on what I have seen so far the Hawks should be able to absorb any pushes that the Flyers have and pull it out.

i was amazed at how many no calls there were for the hawks. one of the hawks had his stick held pointing to it and a ref was right there. no call for it.

But they still won. game 3 should be good.

Yeah, or the stick to the face earlier in the game.

I think that was a follow through. I was more upset about a couple of blatent interefence infractions that Pronger got away with, hitting players away from the puck.

Loved Carcillo's hit on Carter

I'd hope he would have, but I'm guessing Possessed Freak wanted to watch the game on a big screen and not a 20" TV mounted near the ceiling.

That would be it, plus the rowdiness of the fans watching UFC made it really imply that hockey fans were not welcome. Add in that of course we were listening to the UFC match and there were no close captioning.

That's a shame because NHL >>>>>>>> UFC. UFC is pussified street fighting and hockey is a real sport that takes actual skill. Pretty funny how much money Dana White is milking from suckers and may be indicative of how much hockey has fallen off in Chicago. You would never see that happen in south jersey/Philly, it's Flyers/Phillies/Eagles on 100% of the time lest you risk getting your ass kicked. Flyer hockey is like a religion in the Philly metro area.

He doesn't live in Chicago, he lives in eastern PA.

I think a pay-per-view event would draw more people than a game you can watch with an antenna, so it's not really surprising that the sports bar manager chose to show UFC.

Obviously the manager can choose whatever he wants to show... just a little heads up would have been REAL useful.
