on another note i hope ESPN picks up hockey again I don't get OLN so during the week no games
Well, unfortunately for you, I believe OLN has the NHL on contract for at least one more season. I think they do a fantastic job though. I'm lucky enough to get OLN in the Bay Area, CA, but I read that there are still a lot of markets that still don't have them. Hopefully, things will pick up before October rolls around.
There was an interesting article about NHL / TV broadcasts / OLN on ESPN.

It seems true that most of the LA Area doesn't get OLN as many friends who are hockey fans don't have access to the channel (We all brood in frustration). Calls to Cox Cable have proved fruitless even though i hear i can just buy OLN for a smal lfee, they keep telling me I have to upgrade to a better package. Psh, forget that.
IMO I think they REALLY need to fix Hockey on TV. Fans of it right now can follow, but even then, they need to do a better job me thinks. My roommate was watching a ducks-flames game and he noticed that the presentation (camera work mainly) of the game seemed subpar. Some cool camera angles (over the net, in the net) but the general view kinda sucks.
Watching the NBA playoffs there is no moment where I cannot see where the ball is. Any reply it's clear where the ball is, and I can see it at any moment, even critical ones. But in NHL Coverage, some highlight reals of goals, the puck isn't even in the shot since the camera has not followed it fast enough.
I've only really watched Hockey on TV for a couple of years, but I wonder what they can do to improve it. I know the mouse-tail style yellow trail thing didn't work.. But i'm curious, what do you guys think about TV coverage on NHL - keeping in mind that it's not to improve how YOU watch the game persay, but how to generate new fans, etc.
