I really hope you are joking. Sure, most of the year has been Thornton and Cheechoo on the scoreboards, but look at the first 2 rounds. Patrick Marleau, Mark Smith, Steve Bernier, etc. We have plenty of depth and I think we can easily take the Sabers. Whoever goes to the final in the west (either SJ or Anaheim) will take home the cup.
Joking? The sharks arn't a speed match or a line match for the sabres. If they want to the play the classic western game then they will be met by a fast, steel curtain eastern defense.
The Sabres have 4 lines of top notch, solid forwards.
Ottawa, the second best team in the league is getting shutout by Buffalo, so I really hope you don't think Anaheim or San Jose the mid-level entries will "easily" take Buffalo. If you do' you're in for a surprise.
You're talking the first two rounds in the western division, which is weak to say the least.
The west plays a totally offensively weighted game that just won't fly with the teams coming from the east. I've watched just about all the of the playoff games and watching the western games is like a clinic on how NOT to play defense. Hell, they barely even play defense.
The west won't be taking home the cup this year. If it does, it will be one of thoes miracle years.
