Whoops! I think I quoted the wrong person! Egads! I have schmutz on my face! Sorry!

I meant that for daclayman and his statements:
Think of those 2 hillbillies from The Simpsons - 'male moron' Hey, we here gotz this purty cup cuz wez the best at that icey thingy. Female moron is washing one of several double-digit IQ babies in the Stanley Cup. The soap consists of laudry detergent and Busch beer.
to which I was saying...

An ad hominem argument, also known as argumentum ad hominem (Latin, literally "argument against the person") or attacking the messenger, involves replying to an argument or assertion by attacking the person presenting the argument or assertion rather than the argument itself. It is usually, though not always, a logical fallacy

I will of course watch the finals, I'm a hockey addict! I would just like to have seen an old schoolish matchup for the finals.

I just got back from watching the game! Some of my friends got tickets at the last moment by hanging around the RBC Center - the cops were really cracking on ticket scalpers. They got 2nd level for $180.

Carolina will never, ever be a true hockey town. Unless over the next 30-50 years there is a massive climate shift and the entire southern lifestyle changes to a more northeastern one. They may begin to like hockey down there, but they will not fully assimilate into a hockey culture.

As for the Edm vs Car series, it's basically over with Rollie being out. It can't get much more cheesy than this turn of events. Put the backup in and he makes a bad play with a D-man and gives up a ridiculous goal in the last THIRTY SECONDS!

This is like when Hasek got his groin injury when playing for the Sabres and Rollie came in to save the day against Toronto. It's like divine joke.

Ward is basically the sole reason Carolina took game one. He made some amazing (amazingly lucky) saves that were sure shot goals for the Oilers. If Carolina doesn't win this series, they don't deserve to be in the league!

man what a game. A friend and I were there and it was LOUD! I don't think I've ever been to another sporting event of that magnitude where it was that loud. That being said, it was possibly one of the best games as a whole that I've seen just based on the comeback that Carolina made scoring 4 unanswered goals to get them back in position to win. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

To the Oilers faithful:

Hang in there folks. Setback DOES NOT equal failure.

A wounded dog is very dangerous, and this team without Roli will be playing some very inspired hockey.

Look for the Oilers to even up the series tomorrow night. Cam Ward is amazing - what a cool customer for a rookie! - but he's no wall. 4 goals against proves that theory.

The fat lady isn't even on the horizon yet. Now two unproven backups have a chance to show why they are professional goaltenders in the NHL.

Don't forget that before Conks was pulled back in March in the shootout game vs. Dallas, he was riding a 3-game winning streak and a wave of confidence. He has the ability to steal games - unfortunately he also has a penchant for gaffes such as the one we witnessed last night. Markkanen is a little more steady, but has a tendency to let in bad goals at key points in a game. The bonus for the Canes now is that there will be little or no rebound control, which Roli excels at. He also showed great skill playing the puck, which... well, we won't even go there.

Anyhoo, call me flippin' nuts if you want to, but I still give the Oilers a 50/50 chance of pulling this out.

GO OILERS!!

And thanks to Roli for an amazing run. Without him, the Oilers wouldn't have been able to be outshot every game and still be able to obtain victories.

This is why they won't be winning the cup.
Ward is straight up lucky. I'm convinced he, like Dominik Hasek, sold his soul to the devil.

I would love to see the Oilers take the cup, though they really arn't the dominant team. They play the trap combined with western style rush hockey, it's an interesting blend that can pay off if done correctly, but if something goes wrong, it's major disaster.

Did you watch the game last night?

The first two periods looked like an NHL team playing a Junior A team. That's how badly the Oilers were outplaying, outhitting, and outworking the Canes.

Full credit to Carolina for a great comeback last night, but again - your crystal ball is nothing more than your opinion. Ward stole that game and the Canes also were awarded some nice happenings in the third. If I were to believe in your predictions, we would have put this to rest weeks ago because Buffalo would have beat the Canes in 5.

Don't count my boys out just yet.

Probably Conks, but you know what - it doesn't matter.

Oilers will be going back to Rexall with the series knotted up 1-1.

What a jerk that cole is. Saying shutout before the games over. I guess good for the oilers fans.

Anyway, its not looking so good for the oilers so far. But this isnt the first time they were down 2 games.

You can't beat a team that gets EVERY bounce.

This is the luckiest team I have ever seen. Holy ******, how about a few more deflection goals?

****** this. Markkannen played good too. ****** this

Melty...you are sounding like a bitter Oiler fan now. You really think luck got the 'canes where there are now? Was it luck that had them basically the best team in the eastern conference all season? Was it luck that caused the Oiler to score 0 goals last night and the canes to score 5?

How about the Oilers? You think they got this far without their share of luck?

I really don't see how any team gets to the cup finals just being lucky....

BTW...5 different 'canes scored...

Come on man, I thought you were better than that...

Not really. Think of your worst and factor it by 3 or 4. There I am! cheese!

I just meant - in that game - they were FORTUNATE. Lucky is a bad word. You have to be lucky to be good though.

More accurately, I would choose to say that they capitalize on every good scoring chance. They never screw up. Basically I am saying they are a fantastic club. It is nice to see a team that kicked ass all season not crap the bed in the playoffs. I just wish it wasn't against my team!

All I know is that the next two games are at Rexall, and the Oilers will be playing in the finals for at least two more games. Beyond that, I can't really care too much. I mean, I shouldn't. Look at how many great teams didn't even make the playoffs!

It's tough to stay positive when you are pulling for a team as much as I am pulling for this one. It's most likely also unhealthy, and viewed as ridiculous by the 'civilized' segment of society.

The great thing is that a) I don't care and b) I live in a country filled with hocket fanatics of equally insane proportions

Enjoy the game tomorrow and may the best team win.
