what i though were hard-lockups were just issues with 'saving' that took a LONG time to resolve . . . no error messages and it looks awesome on my midrange system [x850xt].

Not sure what you mean. Does the game "hitch" for several seconds, then play normally again? Always when outside? That's another issue I have that I forgot to mention above.

X850 = good card :thumbsup: That's what I used before I broke down and bought a 1900.

What kind of bugs are you running into? I haven't ran into any crashing bug or anything that would require reloading. The only bugs i've ran into were just pathing bugs. This is with like 40 hours in the game.

That is the cheapest house in the game (assuming you mean the one in Anvil), but... 'Something' happens when you sleep in it .

No there's a shack on waterfront for 2000. Buy in market district.

I stand corrected... That place must be a dump though :x.

I haven't seen any significant bugs at all and I've been playing about 6-7 hours, level 14, completed at least two dozen quests. No crashes, no weird events, no real problems at all. There's been a few minor oddities - I got tossed out of the mage guild for stealing when I hadn't done anything at all aside from sleep in a bed there, talking to people and reading a few books (none that were "red"). But the game has been remarkably stable for me.

What is a "broken trigger" and can you give an example of one that you have seen?

I've been playing it for 2 days and so far enjoy it.

I've got some gameplay complains (mainly, I hate first-person view and the third person camera is useless, and the fact that it seems way too easy to accidently attack friendly targets), but on the whole,

the "paranoid" quest.

******SPOILERS******

i had saved my game. then i met the guy behind the church at 12 midnight as i was supposed to. something got messed up, so i loaded up that saved game. then, no matter how long i waited, he never showed up, even though he should have. i ended up having to load a way earlier saved game, that was before i was even given the quest.

there's some others also.

I'm trying to decide between the house in Chorral and the house in Burma. I've got about 12000 GP saved up so far.

I got the 2000 waterfront house (what a POS LOLOL), and the Anvil house recently. The Anvil house looks pretty good after you 'clean' it actually, butit's so damn far away. Instead, what i've done is got the saddlebag mod, so now i just have my horse carry my stuff for me. There's two versions, one with unlimited weight limit, and one with limited weight limit. I'm using the limited weight limit one, and i haven't ran into the limit it (i have the white horse, which is the strongest of them all i believe)... and i'm storing all my potions (like 100), extra sets of armor (i go back and forth from heavy to light to work on both skills), extra weapons, alchemy stuff, etc.

With the ring that calls my horse, this is like the best mod. When i'm in a dungeon and loaded with loot, i just go out, call my horse, unload my loot on it, then go back into the dungeon.

IMO, go for one of the cheaper houses early (keep in mind the manor in Anvil comes fully furnished) just to store items. I didn't buy a house other than that manor until just now (level 30), because I had more gold than I knew what to do with :x.

According to the saves, I've clocked about 25 hours (minus f ups, oh so many). Anyways, gotten more use to the interface, but the hueg text is still annoying (and geez, stop confirming!). Wish the right mouse button was used in there too. Also got my first horse (black, didn't know painted was 10x cheaper + uglier), but it's rather disappointing. I thought it'd at least be a pack rat, but it just seems like a rather expensive novelty item (miss the status of being among the few to own a WoW epic mount:brokenheart.

On the bug front, it's only ctd once during play. However, the main menu freeze is still there and very annoying. It happens about 50-75% of the time after the splash screen, and pressing yes to confirm load. After reboot, no problem ever; only happens occasionally after cold booting. On the other hand, I can reload 100 times (I suck at lock picking and don't like wasting too many) without even a stutter. Also, Oblivion hasn't properly closed once without the send error report thing after long sessions.

Otherwise, been having a blast. Haven't even started the main quest. Started in Chyldenhal and can't stop cleaning dungeons on my way to Chorol (no I can't spell them). Just wish I could switch out my Radeon 9600; want 7600gt but one local store just jacked up their already bloated prices:|.

Oh yeah, that's one bug i have... the quitting of the game without it crashing and getting the error report window. But since i'm not even in the game, it doesn't bother me at all.

Ya, I don't give the exit crash much thought either since it doesn't even bother me, but it'd be nice to not see the word error plastered on your desktop.

Also, just remembered something weird in the game. Went outside Buma???, saw 2 dead deer, 1 dead bandit, 1 dead imperial legion forester, and 1 live forester. Question: how'd the guard bite it when 2 on 1 loser bandit? Unless the deer went medieval...

I haven't gotten too far into it yet, but what are the benefits to owning a house? just something to do?

A place to stash stuff, a free bed to sleep in, and something to do...

I just bought the one in Bravil (4000 bones) and it's quite comfortable.

As long as it doesn't get robbed I'm cool with it. I just want a place to store all my junk. I have like 25 books that I've picked up and haven't wanted to read just yet. The books are one of the best parts of these games.

X850 = good card :thumbsup: That's what I used before I broke down and bought a 1900.

just fought my way back
:Q

no hitch . . . just a Long [1+ minute] Pause where the cursor freezes and i used to hit ctr+alt+delete to get to task mgr - now i just take a break and the game is [usually] back to normal [or at the desktop].

everything else is pretty smooth . . . even with self shadows on [and i have an x850xt because i am stubbornly holding on to AGP].

and damn, i am level 3 . . .

really deep story line . . . withour spoiling it, i joined the Mages Guild in Chorrol and was given a task [for a "recommendation" to the Academy].
Well, Instead of completing the task exactly . . . i did a little double-dealing with their "ememy" [for a cool Spell] . . . and then went BACK to the Mages and confessed my duplicity. . . .
. . . they were P O'd but told me how to get back in their good graces and i ended up with BOTH the spell and the recommendation!
[which i didn't expect at all . . . very refreshing to get DEPTH in a game]

edit: Speaking or Books . . . i have been getting them for Free from the Guilds and then after reading, i Sell them to the local bookstore [and Weapons from the Guilds to the weapons shoppe].
great way to make gold without thieving or fighting

oh yeah . . . while helping someone that was kidnapped, i rode their horse to them [not understanding i was supposed to lead them to their horse instead] . . . so although they didn't complain, i have a small 'bounty' on my head for hopping on the horse [40 gold, i think].
little stuff like that . . . no biggie, so far.

Something wierd about that quest with me was that he was never there at midnight for me either... but I still had the quest so the next night, I showed up a bit earlier - like 10:30pm and he was there. And then I'd go back again for the next part, wait until midnight and he wouldn't be there, but then he would be the next day at 11:15pm. He seemed to be there from 10pm until just before midnight. So it was like the quest description is wrong.

That was a neat quest - a little tedious but neat.

the world seems less in-depth (but eh) and things are less complicated, a good thing for it being more mainstream, but I don't know..

the amount of books in the game is kind of disappointing too.

wish it ran faster (wish I have better comp with widescreen monitor), but other than that.. it's pretty good so far?

felt really epic in the beginning, now that I've played more.. not so much.

The only thing I'm not happy about so far is the LOD. I made the changes to the ini file to improve it, but it's still not adequate. For a game that brags about stunning graphics that's really not acceptable. Seems like they could have used 3, maybe even 4 different levels of detail for terrain and buildings way off in the distance.

On a side note, I had some fun with deer tonight. I found a group of 5 of them all standing around eachother, so I picked them off with my bow one by one. Which brings up another thing I find amusing. I can shoot 6 arrows at a deer and he won't run... won't even move when each arrow hits him. Just goes about his business eating grass...

Anyone found the enemies become a bit too tough at level 7 or so, with the difficulty slider at mid? Right now I am having trouble killing goblin skimishers or the like without getting heavily hammered.
