Now it turns out that it sucks... haha oh well... I might keep playing, apparently there are some good things that come out of it, but I'm not sure what they are yet...
Try not feeding for a while (only way to get some distinctive advantages out of it), and get yourself the best charm spell you can (think custom spell with high magnitude, short duration). With a little magical interference, people will still interact with you despite your disturbing appearance.

So I already know how it runs on my 9800XT rig (like crap, but playable).

So how can I expect it to run on my 7900GT SLI rig when then come tommorow?
Everything maxed out w/HDR and 16xAF?

looove it so far

turned alot of the graphics down, no pixel shader stuff on, so my radeon 9700 pro handles it perfectly and looks even alot better than what bad pixel shading does

edit,
ok ok, to those with awsome graphics cards it might look like crap, but to me it looks good, the engine scales very well

I have it to do, I have like 10 active quests lol. I tried to do it, but that quest is hard. The trolls in that painting quest put some smack down.

If youre wondering how you kill them, what you gotta do is get their health down(and keep at it because they regenerate!!!!) then use the potion the guy gave you at the last second to kill them.

I dunno but, they are friggin hard. I spent 30 mins to kill 3 of them, then ran out of potions so I had to quit that quest for now.

If it's that one, I found that to be the toughest thing in the game yet. I was using the default Blades gear that you get and I had a really hard time with it. It was fun to be challenged but this was a bigger challenge that I needed though.

If you get stuck and are getting annoyed, don't forget the slider difficulty bar. You can mow them down like wheat if you set the slider to a low setting. I admit that that was the only time so far that I changed the difficulty off of the default. I got tired of reloading.

I thought it was really easy. Just snuck up on the trolls, applied terpentine to the arrow, and took them out 1 shot each. 3x bonus for a sneak kill also.
very easy

painters quest was extremely easy, an intersting idea for quest anyway.
i'm already gettn a bit bored with it, after exploring all the land and most of the houses/stores in town, just no variety outside of doing quests

I think it's a matter of when you get it. I was level 3-ish, had the default Blades gear, and this was my 5th or 6th quest (or even "dungeon") in the game. I'd only been playing a couple of hours total and most of my levels came from alchemy. The trolls pretty much smacked me down hard. Each fight was very hard, I'd used all of my potions up by the time that I'd reached the third troll. The fourth one required reloading over and over... dying repeatedly and adjusting my strategy. And then finally after about 20-30 tries, I just moved the difficulty slider down about 25% from the default, and killed him easy. Then cranked the difficulty back to where it had been and moved on. I've never had such a hard fight since then... I'm now level 15.

I remember trying out various strategies. I had a scroll to summon a skeleton and I thought, "Ok, I'll have the skeleton distract him and then we'll both kill the troll together." I summoned the skeleton, moved into the range of the troll who bounded over and killed my skeleton with one swipe and then proceeded to wipe me out.

I couldnt do enough dmg with one arrow to kill them. I took out 2 or 3 of them with two poison arrows and then just booked it to the dead dude to get the key. If you can jump high enough (I am a Wood Elf Theif) You can use the rocks to get out of their reach for a bit. After I got the key I just hopped on top of the mountians where they couldnt get me and took a shortcut back to the guy.

Hah, same here. I think I may have killed one troll, then just scaled the rocks, arrow-poisoned Burden on one troll, ran past him, grabbed the brush, then rescaled the mountains... they take their time getting back to you, so you have time to get back to the guy and have him do his thing.

I've killed a fair number of vampires (is it me, or do they seem a bit too easy to kill?) and contracted "poryphia hemophilia" a couple of times. And I just drank a potion of cure disease and it seemed to go away.

I didn't notice the message because I was in the middle of a difficult fight. I just went back to the autosave before resting and drank a potion.

In Morrowind (and I assume it's similar in oblivion, since it's the same universe), you could cure yourself in the first 3 days. Afterwards you become a full fledged vampire and it's a PITA to cure it, but was possible.

How do you clear bounties on your head?

I accidently jumped on the wrong horse in the Imperial City and now I have guards chasing me.

You have to pay them. If you are in the thieves guild you can pay them off for half price.

i am doing a LOT more wandering than seeking the main quest . . . and am totally surprised at the amount of sidequests and places to explore . . . just off the main road and on somewhat 'hidden' paths.

i noticed that there are plenty of caves and dark places . . . if you want to become a Vampire . . . perhaps you should wait till you have explored more and note "safe" places to run to.

ANYWAY, i have some BOOKS - do i drop them? do they have further uses?. . . i read them and now what? [the lockpick book seemed to increase my picking ability - i have even the hardest locks wired now]

it looks like the Persuasion rounds are pretty important . . . but i am still UNsure *what* it really and practically *does* . . . do you get more options and dialog [and cheaper prices] if they like you?

i am playing with Disposition now [f5 . . . persuade . . . *Fail* . . . f9 . . . try again . . . how i mastered lockpicking] but could use some tips.

Some of those books sell for quite a little bit... I just sell them after I've flipped through the pages...

Drop or sell, yes.

Yes to both - if you want a beggar to tell you about the Gray Fox, you have to persuade them, and various other quests require persuading people to get information. Vendors also give you better prices (or did in Morrowind - I haven't actually compared) - I'd assume it lets you move the haggle slider more in your favor.

Okay, since noone has replied, I'm going to ask again:

What impact, if any, does not sleeping have on a character?

So far, with the exception that you need it to level up and quickly get through the night, I have not seen an impact of not sleeping. Are characters inherently insomniacs?

Ephedra/Camellia sinensis

Sleep restores your character's fatigue and health and allows you to level up . . . i don't think you have to . . . and sometime it appears best to level up after a big battle [you appear to be able to level up 'all at once']

so i don't know and would also like to find out

[and would appreciate DETAILS on the persuasion game]

yeah you really dont have to sleep if you dont want to... but there are a few quests and things that require you to sleep to trigger something. And of course you won't actually gain level. Sleeping is great when you're really low on health and dont want to waste potions to heal up

You get four wedges and four levels of effect (represented by the bigger fill-ins). Each wedge is labeled something: Joke, Admire, Boast, and I forget the last. If you mouse over each in the game, you will see the NPC's face change. Big smile, little smile, little grimace, big grimace. This reflects how clicking on that wedge for that round will effect your disposition with that character. The object is to get the largest increases in the smile wedges and the smallest decreases in the grimace wedges.

details as to what? how to play it or the effect? i've only seen some very minort effects but my mercantile/speech skills are really low.

i did get some extra info out of a couple people when playing that game but iirc only one was really relevant to anything. it was when speaking to some guard i knew had the info i needed in one of the great halls, chorrlol iirc.

other than that, i've been practicing more with it but haven't seen anything good.
