It's really obvious, remember of the very easy locks? The only tumbler of that lock rise slow enough for you to click your right mouse button as it raises to the top (at the end). As the tumbler hit to the end, at the right timing when you click ur right mouse button, the lock opens. Now with that in mind, for multiple tumblers, if you click it correctly at the right time. the tumbler (for locks w/ difficulty of easy-very hard) will stay in place, until you get all of the tumblers all in place at the top. If you screwed up with the locks with multiple tumblers, then the remaining stationary tumblers at the top end will go back down . Unless your skill lvl helps keep of the remaining tumblers from going down again. Try play around with the tumblers, some vary in speed on how fast they raise up. Try hold an open torch, it helps slow down the tumblers (from a guide in the game).

I'm not good at writing...unless you want a video. I can try to figure out how to make one

You have to tap it up with the mouse and then click at the precise moment that it is at the top.

I like it... reminds me of something... don't remember. With my new character I didn't pick security as a prime skill, because i'm decent with it even at low levels, though it is a pain when you're almost done and they all fall.

Go to a church and pray at an altar, should cure it.

Pay attention to your fame/infamy ratio when praying. If you have more infamy than fame, praying will not cure you. You'll will need to do some quests that gain you more fame. I suppose that even though all the townsfolk and guards don't know that I'm the infamous master thief, I can't escape the spying eyes of the gods... but I'll take them down too soon enough.

So you can only enchant items with sigil stones or at the alter if you are in the mage guild?

So is there any reason for my thief to hold onto these soul gems and stones(not the sigil stones, I don't remember how thier names are spelled, kinda like valla, and walkyland stones or soemthing) and what not.

Wasn't finding more difficult monsters after neglecting to bed rest my character. Went up 3 levels after 3 one hour rests which likely means my equipment is out-dated. After running into some trolls I had to escape to the lake with my water boots on. Was able to defeat the Painted Trolls from a safe location from an earlier quest but this time was short on arrows. Got the trolls 'cornered' in the water and able to bare fist them to death and they wouldn't lay a hand on me.

I just got this game, and have invested a lot of time in a character. I assume this was from the beginning of the game when I stole a horse, however, there were no soldier attacks until now. I tried the "pay bounty" cheat, and everything I can think of, but can't get past the level without them attacking me. I don't want to have to go back to the beginning. And this may not be the problem. :-(

Any ideas?

They attack you without offering you take you to jail? If so, then you've got a bug. When they attack you, did you try yielding?

Hehe...

I'm trying to "push" my game activities down towards Kvatch to start the damn storyline... but got myself caught up in mini-quests in Chorrol... gotta see what's going on underneath Hackdirt... then waste many hours in Skingrad

Oh - and I'm already a "master" armorer - same routine as the lockpicks, more or less I don't tote a lot of hammers around, they weigh something!

I think it's best to start the MQ post 10 anyways... otherwise you'll be fighting scamps, and they're boring as hell.

Anyways, how'd you get armorer to master so quickly?

So what mods are people using now? I tried a fake hdr mod myself, it looks great except for a few issues.

Most of the mods I'm using throw a bit of realism into the game or enhance the IU. The main one is Obscuro's Overhaul he just released. You need to start a brand new game for it to fully function, and even though I had 60+ hrs on my old 22-lvl character, I felt it worth it to reroll. It truly fixes the parts of the game I feel need the most fixing-- the scaling.

Mods I'm using:
Obscuro's Overhaul (includes Combat Behavior)
Potion Sorter
BTMod for better UI and to disable the red/green quest markers on the compass and maps
Deadlier Traps
Horse Armor
Alchemy potion perks
Lighter Ingredients
Landmarks
No Loading
Perception
Quest Award Levelling
Natural Wildlife

Note the quote marks - I'm not really a Master yet

Just do the same thing as picking locks, sorta - Quicksave, repair, Quicksave, break hammer, quickload, etc. etc... helps if you repair often so you don't have a big list.

well - 125 hours into this game and still at Level 12 - i got really IRRITATED [with myself for spending *too much* time on this game] . . .

. . . so i finished the Main Quest at 3 am!
:Q

- it was AWESOME . . . a real Story with "emotion" and "depth" and a Great Ending - including a Finale Battle, with dozens of enemies on the screen at once and a [sorta] Big Boss Fight . even though i am 'finished', i am still going to play thru *everything* . . . at a slower pace [i am losing sleep].
it is that good!

IN FACT, i am considering leaving the Ending again [the last 'save' before the Ultimate Battle] and just follow the SideQuests until all other 60 gates are closed [- i got 20, so far - you get some really great Stuff in Oblivion].

What do you guys think? Continue on as "hero" or go back to being "regular" until everything is finished?

i used no mods or guideboods . . . and a couple of *puzzles* were damn hard . . . good thing i remembered a little Latin cause i misssed the clues in the game.

****SPOILER****

anyone else a bit surprised at the ease at 'taking Paradise'? And did you "trust" ot not?

Finally, i got so tired of MC droning on and on and on [and on], i just attacked him on his throne just to shut him up - made easy and short work of Him and His Family

. . . [yes, the game will get some real emotion from you - i shouted at the screen a couple of times] :Q
:Q

awesome

LOL i ONLY did once when i was down to my last 2 hammers, and i was very deep in an Oblivion gate. I normally carry 5+ with me. What i do to get my armorer up fast is i repair everything, even junk i'm going to sell or junk i'm not even going to pick up. I have the saddlebag mod, so if i'm short, i'll just go back out to my horse and load up on some more.

I wanted to get the Imperial Dragon armor so i finished the MQ... but was VERY VERY disappointed in that armor (both in how it looked and the specs)... and my plan was to just finish the quest as the hero. But it kinda sucked without the MQ. I really hated the fact that Bethesda didn't add in responses for when you completed the quest. Here you are, walking past some NPC, and they're saying 'oh, your the great hero'... and you go up to talk to them, and their reaction is the same 'what do you want?' or 'i have nothing to say to you.'

Finally, i got so tired of MC droning on and on and on [and on], i just attacked him on his throne just to cut him short - made easy and short work of His Family

Yeah, i found the game pretty easy too.

Paradise was a pain until I got the wrist bands removed, then when the ascended immortal started helping me it was a breeze. I did die once when confronting MC, so the next time I crouched and let loose my bow, I killed him without him even seeing me

I started a stealthy mage fighter last night. Dark Elf with Mage and Sneak as main abilities then IIRC blade, light armor, marksman, sneak, conjuration, and...??? Can't remember. Anyway, I like being able to sneak around and 'snipe' with the bow then use the flare when the baddies get in closer. I need to build up my blade as well. I'm new to this game style but really sucked in on the amazing look and freedom in Oblivion. Before I get too far and 'mess up' my character, is there something the veterans would recommend for my character style?

Any highly recommended mods (seems like there's so many)? Are the mods safe to apply as in they will not mess up the game story or balance? I read about one that allows the merchants to sell/buy higher value things at lower levels. Is that a good and stable one? I looked for it but didn't find it.
