I cleared the Arena at level 5. But I picked a combat class my first time around. If you picked a mage just use basic offensive spells as fast as possible, maybe start the match with a summoned monster for distraction.
If you picked a rogue, I dont know what to say. Bows arent as useful as other games and you can only backstab if you arent seen.
Try a weak invisibility spell or saving the magic arrows you find in dungeons. A 2 second paralyze can do wonders.

Dont ignore it completely. When you beat the Grand Champion you can take his equipment. Something tells me that at level 36 he drops some good stuff.Originally posted by: Painman
I haven't done Arena, completely forgot about it actually. I know it gives you some leveled opponents, should be interesting when I finally get around to doing it seeing as I'm lvl 36 atm
When you're up this high, leveled opponents can knock YOU on your @ss :Q

(On my second run, I installed a mod that lets me take equipment off ANY foes I kill.)

Be careful with the chameleon based gear, it is completely game breaking and could ruin your enjoyment of the game before long by trivializing everything.

ANYthing you overmaster may "break" enjoyment for you. i don't see it that way . . . i have 200 hours into the game and am WAY LESS than 1/2 done . . . anything that speeds it up is a "+" in my book. i have the ability to pick ANY lock withour breaking a single pick . . . BUT the Skeleton Key speeds it up . . . i wouldn't leave home without it.
And Chameleon Gear is USELESS in fighting multiple enemies . . . say on the planes of Oblivion where you get to fight maybe 5 or six enemies at once . . . you can't attack one-at-a-time as they Mob you - imo, chameleon is best for Sneak, Thief and Assasin Quests.
ANyway, i am Expert in Blade and Good at Destruction, so like my mele skills just as well as Sneak.

I had 103% Chameleon and it was basically running around with a notarget cheat turned on. I attacked several Imperial Palace Guards and they went into fleeing mode. Nothing ever attacked me. I blew through the final Thieves Guild quest using it and decided that I don't want it anymore.
For outdoors you are doing very well. Its still playable. How about when you get near an Oblivion gate?Originally posted by: binister
Just started playing tonight and I am hooked. This game is unbelieveable. I have never been much of an RPG fan (FF mostly) but this game has it all.
Anyone out there using a single 6800GT? If so, what are you framerates like? I get about 25-30FPS outdoors... Does that sound about right?
This game is going to force an upgrade...

Was just a warning, I'd hate for you to completely ruin the game for yourself after putting so many hours into it.

Thats exactly what I noticed with my 7800GT.Originally posted by: skace
I have a 7800GT and I disable grass with "TG". I didn't at first, but after awhile I realized I actually liked the world the way it looks without grass (at least until you can have a video card that can do grass to the horizon). Plus without grass I get awesome FPS even outdoors.

X i doubt it . . .
. blow away windbag. . .
. i won't fight you . . .
. you do me too much honor.
i have made 100% Chamelion [75% gear + 25% spells] and don't get what you describe . . . except with a single enemy at a time [and they run like hell if you don't kill 'em right away - damned annoying]. i still get "mobbed" by a group, especially in Oblivion Planes . . . what level are you?
i am only Level 17 [even though i have 215 hours into the game]
and even if what you describe [ever] happens, i simply will put it away except for the toughest fights
[i don't mind keeping a "legal cheat" handy]
but thanks for the 'warning'
They're just called "Sigil Stones".Originally posted by: Painman
It's what you pull out of the top of a sigil tower to shut down an Oblivion gate. Are there "lesser" types of sigil stones you get from shutting gates down when you're low in level? I've only gotten the Transcendent ones, but I was already high level when I started the main quest.
