screw this man ...

i went around tonight scouting out for like 3 hours. this is crazy i can't believe it. i'm most likely going to camp out tomorrow if we are allowed to setup tents where we're waiting, cause its supposed to rain thursday.

i saw the line at circuit city gettin 100 of em. it was easily 200 people. it was on the local news too.

I checked out the Torrance/Hawthorne CA Circuit City and it's all full already..everyone has tents or awnings...power lines coming from cars...lots of folding chairs...it's liek a big party

Yup. If bidding on receipts of PS3 preorders is already hitting $2000+, I don't think not making a profit is going to be an issue.

Anybody in DC with $1200 in cash can probably get one here.. LOL, I love how they have 1000 PS3s but don't even know yet if they'll accept credit cards...cash or cashier's check only as of now.

Hey guys, grab $1200 out of the ATM and meet us at this bar downtown! Hope they have some good security...if anyone figures out how to pull off a major heist, they'll make out with over a million in cash and the 100 onsite PS3s. Hell, someone could just lay in wait a couple blocks away and jump the suckers as they head towards the bar.

What a stupid fvcking promotion....figures it is officially sponsored by Sony.

I've been to that bar plenty of times, and they definitely accept credit cards for other stuff, so I don't see why they couldn't for PS3's.

Went by my local Wal-Mart today. They had a PS3 display. It's beautiful.

And the sucker was frozen (100%) on a trailer for Lair...

You think you can make much of a profit off of $1200/PS3? I don't know...seems the margin would be slim.

I'd rather chance it with CompUSA's buy-an-HDTV-get-a-PS3-preorder, sell the PS3 for a free HDTV, personally.

lol most definitely. have you not been following this whole fiasco? Preorders going for 2K+?

with the amount of ps3's cut basically in HALF now for launch, the price of the ps3 is going to go WAY up. i'm not worried at all about it. I'm sure I could make atleast double the money i invest into ps3's if I were to sell them all.

I dunno...I just have a bad feeling that once eBay is flush with PS3s, bids will be a bit lower. I'm sure you'll make your money back, though...just thinking about how much better it would be if you didn't have to pay double just to get in the game. Good luck though.

I went to Target yesterday to play their PS3, and it was frozen too. On a "Please Wait..." screen. I could be wrong, maybe the loading times are astronomical.

Probably talking about the production issues that lead up to the shortage. I haven't heard of any major problem yet beyond issues with backwards compatibility for ~200 games based on the Japanese launch.

I don't think the PS3 would do as well the PS2, don't buy Sony shares. Why? The PS3 isn't such a good deal for its 3 key stakeholders... Games, Developers and Sony itself.

Gamer: Games buy at first and foremost want the a console for the content if offers. The Gaming experaince, single player or multiplayer. (How does PS3 compare with Xbox 360 in graphics and multiper experience. About the same for the first, Xbox 360 is superior in the second.)

Developers: Devlopers make money by selling content. There costs rise if the platform is complicated to program for. (that 1PU + 7SPE cell is not easy to program for). This cost has to be spread out over the installed base of the platform. (Sony has reduced the size of the installed base by making their product significantly more expensive than their competitor.)

Sony: Sony wants to make money from the PS3, they do so by making profit on the game licesning (they take a cut of every game sold) + accessories.
However, sony has shot them selves in the foot by making their product too complicated: That Cell with its 7 SPE is hard to program for. Sony thought they could do graphix on it...they couldn't and they got nvidia. up went the cost and complexity. Sony thinks YOU should have blue ray... up went the cost, then add in a blue diode shortage...damn, shortage of PS3 as well....Sony has increased their costs and price and thus inhibited the size of their install base. This gives develoers less incentive to invest more into making good content. Less good content mean less consumers buy it. Less consumer buying the box mean less games + accessores will be sold. This makes it harder for sony to cover there own costs and make a profit.

Has anyone checked their local stores for lines yet? I'm going to try to start tonight but i'm thinking that its to late. I got my camping stuff in the car, food and water and have the day off from work tomorrow. I saw in the news this morning people already lined up, big lines already in some stores around NYC.

I'm going to check several stores and hope that one of them has a shorter line than 10 people.

Has anyone visited the playstation official forums... they do not allow any console comparision there and or any mention of any other console other then the playstation systems and if ANY thread pops up about anything bad about the playstation 3 it is not locked but instantly deleted... I think that is a little wierd... what do you all think?
