I was at BB last night and they had a demo PS3 on display. I played some off-road racing game (I don't know what it was called) for a little bit but got bored with it so I was looking at the console in the plastic bubble. There were no cords attached to the console; not one. I'm trying to figure out what reason Sony would have for displaying the shell of the console in the plastic bubble but housing the actually working parts in the base of the display.

Maybe so they could hide the air conditioner.

Has anyone checked their local stores for lines yet? I'm going to try to start tonight but i'm thinking that its to late. I got my camping stuff in the car, food and water and have the day off from work tomorrow. I saw in the news this morning people already lined up, big lines already in some stores around NYC.
I'm going to check several stores and hope that one of them has a shorter line than 10 people.

Has anyone visited the playstation official forums... they do not allow any console comparision there and or any mention of any other console other then the playstation systems and if ANY thread pops up about anything bad about the playstation 3 it is not locked but instantly deleted... I think that is a little wierd... what do you all think?

That whole family is camping out for a PS3? For their son? If they're all camping out,.... how are they paying for it? Don't they have jobs?
Why do I get the feeling I'm helping them pay for that PS3,......?

PS3 dealbreaker for those (like me) with older HDTVs.
The PS3 does not support 720p -> 1080i upconversion.
Why does this matter? It matters cuz some games (like Resistance) are 720p, and the PS3 will output them as 720p (or 480p). Unfortunately, MANY TVs do not support 720p at all. They support only 1080i for HD.
"The maximum display resolution is currently set to 1080i. For highest image quality 720p is recommended. To change this setting, you must exit the application and change your Video Output Settings from the Display Settings option in the Settings menu.
Press the START button to continue" to 480p
Ridiculousness confirmedOriginally posted by: BD2003You'd think that with the supercomputer under the hood, they'd have at least thought of this simple little thing called upscaling?Originally posted by: Eug

It sounds more and more ridiculous every day. They need to start pimping some new games, quick.
