I wonder too about some of these "Engineers in name only" but hey whatever these guys might be doing this part-time while working an actual full-time gig. I'm not going to just pull someone down unless given reason to. Actual concrete reason. I will say to your point however that people need to manage their expectations. Never put too much reliance on one source for anything and that's just a good life lesson period. My apologies to you and mr Buildzoid, I had no idea this young man was god's gift to engineering cooling solutions for all products. No idea why he's wasting his time collecting pennies on patreon instead of replacing Microsoft's engineers and making some real money and shame on Microsoft for overlooking his genius. The fact is the Series X is out in the wild and its cooling solution is keeping the machine running within specs, cool, quiet and not crashing. If you have evidence of this not being the case, feel free to share it.
No one is going to overclock or overvolt their Series X.
If you see something you don't like and want to criticize or correct it, from the inside out can be a long and arduous process as opposed to "Buildzoid" (Sorry but is he a rapper?) So yeah the whole "god's gift thing" can become a bit overdrawn I hear you there. Companies beware if they put too much stock in what people say far as I'm concerned. Professional credentials help in my opinion and to a degree.
They show you have been exposed to multiple environments in capacities where you had hands-on experience with all of the things you are relating to. So in my eyes, while that might be a detraction for many to most people especially those I work with; we're pretty objective with realities that have to do with our work (engineering) regardless of the source (at least I am) if it's a 20-year-old kid so be it and good for him far as I care.
I think making a name for yourself can either really work for you or against you. It requires a degree of self-control and tact that many young people lack but it's not to say they cannot do it. Optics, optics are important in the professional world, even mine. The perception of something is more important than reality at times which can really suck but it's a good thing to be aware of if you value your job. Also knowing when to explain the situation is completely wrong and provide the solution and when not to. Odd as that last one may sound lol.
