I still have not finished the previous ratchet and clank. I'll watch some reviews and might pick this one up too. I'm betting I'll probably like the new one more.

The latest PS4 one was a remake (remaster, whatever) of the original one so it's not a new story or anything. I started it on PS5 when it was free to download but I never played much of it. It was pretty crazy how little is going on in the game compared to what the new one has shown so far. I mean it's really not crazy since it's an old game, but it is a night and day difference.

As expected, seems the game is getting rave reviews so far and won't disappoint.

I watched a bit of ACG's review and he mentioned you do notice a little, the resolution drop when using the 60 fps with ray tracing mode. 4k 30 fps is solid and that's how I've also played Miles Morales spiderman too.

He recommends playing in the performance mode but overall the consensus is it's one of the best looking ps5 games so far and gameplay/presentation is great.

I hope there are some neat features with the controller adaptive triggers.

Is the 60fps/RT mode with the framerate dips 4K or 1080p?

And there is definitely special stuff with the haptic triggers. The devs talked about it way back when. Hell even RE8 has cool stuff with that and it's a multiplatform game. First party devs definitely are going to take advantage of it.

The 60 fps mode with RT is a variable 4k resolution. I think the same thing is done in Miles Morales.

I guess this will be the first ps5 game (surely not the last) I'll spend $70 on. Feels weird for some reason. Probably because I've always gotten some discounts on the $60 games.

Okay well I don't care about 4k and play in 1080p so I'm hoping it'll be a perfect 60fps for me then.

Only game I paid $70 for was Demon's Souls and it was my first entry to the Souls world. I got both RE8 and R&C for like $51 on amazon with a 20% amex promo that was going on.

Too bad Walmart doesn't do $10 discounts on Sony first party games at launch. Anything not Sony first party you usually get $10 off, I guess Walmart views it as a loss leader. But not Sony first party stuff. Got Nier Replicant for $50 from them but looks like I'll be paying $70 for Rift Apart. Probably get in a few days though, as I have been playing Castlevania Symphony of the Night (still amazing ~25 years later) on DuckStation.

Loved how Insomniac did the performance RT mode on Spiderman, can't wait to see it on Rift Apart too.

I've been wondering about that. Makes sense why I got RE 8 for cheaper than usual. I miss the best buy gamers club unlocked membership.

When I had that, and I had it for a long time, I would buy all my games there.

I was actually going to go buy a GCU membership at my local Best Buy like 2-3 years ago, whichever was the last year of the program. But then I saw my local Best Buy is such a mess with its physical games, they literally just put them in random order on the shelves so you have to look through every single game on the shelves. So I thought no way I want to marry myself to buying my physical games from here where everything I'd want to buy would necessitate a 10-15 minute search of their entire PS4 catalog. Probably better I skipped out on it anyways since I rarely bought PS4 games at launch. I bought that system around Christmas 2016 so always had a ton of first rate games for bargain basement prices, and then last year I bought no PS4 games other than Persona 5 Royal since I knew PS5 would have PS4 BC to play a lot of the games at 60 fps. But now that I'm a PS5 early adopter and buying games at launch GCU would definitely be helpful if it still existed.

My best buy wasn't any better at organizing the physical games. I usually just ordered online while at work and did the pickup in store option. Then when I went to customer service I made sure to always make sure the GCU discount applied. Some cashier's had trouble applying it but sometimes it was because I ended up with two best buy accounts that I eventually merged to the correct one.

I think DigitalFoundry noted that it had very minor dips (1-2 FPS) infrequently. They didn't get the patch until late, so there will be a separate video covering Performance RT mode in more detail.

I think that this whole "drop" system is BS anyway. They should just allow pre-orders (one per customer account) for their next shipment, instead of incentivizing scalpers to write scripts to scan the site constantly for a quantity change.

Someone gets it.

Let me put a preorder in, when stock is available send the product. It’s so simple.

Yeah that is a very valid point.

I still think the whole scalper thing is way overblown though. Sure scalpers are buying them to sell. Hell I did it myself but without scripts and bots. But it's just what people like to use as their excuse for not getting one without putting in any work. I put in a lot of work to get all the systems I got and it paid off.

I’ve never ever had to put in “work” to get a video game console on my life. Literally NEVER. The fact that you think it’s acceptable to expect people to track shipments 24/7 to hunt a ps5 down is pretty retarded.

I got my series x by going to the store to preorder it the day they started accepting them and I got one on the day of release as a result. The fact that sony couldn’t do this is a complete joke.

Sony did do that - you just missed out on it. It's how many of us got PS5's at launch.

Oh know you never had to put work in to get a console poor you! I also never said anything about tracking shipments 24/7 but hey way to make up fake news.

A console also has never been as much in demand as the PS5 is. Console gaming is bigger than it's ever been right now. The demand is higher so therefore, yes, it takes more work to get the new consoles than it used to.

Here's Gamespot's review of the FF7 Remake's PS5 version (https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/fi...rade-review-materia-improvements/1900-6417445):

Final Fantasy VII Remake was already a stunner of a game on PlayStation 4, but its PS5 upgrade, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, demonstrates just how beautiful a game it really is. Like many PS5 games, the upgraded version offers two graphical modes--one that provides 4K resolution and a lower frame rate, and the other that provides 60 FPS with a lower resolution. With either setting, Intergrade feels like a significant visual leap for an already gorgeous game, sharpening the impressive graphics and making for silky smooth battles.

Both presentation modes are definitive upgrades, and the game looks great in both. Additional graphical bells and whistles that take advantage of the PS5's power have been introduced. These include increased volumetric fog in the underground tunnels following the Bombing Mission and lighting that feels like it bounces and bleeds through scenes. FF7R's cinematic presentation is phenomenally well-served by the resolution increase of 4K, with the game's characters and vistas gaining additional detail that makes every clothing texture and building material pop with additional realism. The Graphics mode is simply gorgeous, especially in climactic moments like the Bombing Mission or the battle against Hell House in Corneo's Coliseum. But even little things, like the leather of Aerith's jacket or the wool of Cloud's sweater, gain noticeable improvements that make scenes feel just a little bit more eye-catching.

The mode that favors graphics over frame-rate, naturally, is the superior one for presentation, although what you play with really comes down to personal preference. On Performance mode, FF7R becomes exceedingly smooth in both combat and cutscenes, and with the game's deft and often intense camera moves, it often feels like you're whipping through spaces or ripping through enemies with Cloud's sword. Coupled with showers of sparks and blasts of flame in big battles, the enhanced framerate brings a palpable immediacy to the game--although it can sometimes feel a little too intense. Where the enhanced resolution of the Graphics mode consistently looks great, especially with FF7R's fast camera moves, the higher frame rate can occasionally be a detriment. It can feel too fast, as if the presentation isn't always quite optimized and certain moments are sped up with the frame rate. It's sometimes disorienting, but never especially detrimental; and on the other hand, combat at 60 FPS helps show off the quality and dynamism of the game's animations.

Apart from graphical improvements, the PS5's claims to fame include enhanced loading speeds (which notably make booting up a save feel near-instantaneous) and haptic feedback in the DualSense controllers. It's on this last point that Intergrade hasn't impressed much. Despite fighting some extremely intense battles to test the PS5 version, including the ludicrously over-the-top Hell House, the haptics didn't do enough to leave an impression. The only point I really noticed them at all were during Cloud's memory flashes on the Bombing Mission; unlike games such as Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart or Astro's Playroom, it doesn't feel like FF7R does much of note in its use of the haptics, even when characters are blowing up scorpion-shaped tanks or escaping an exploding Mako reactor.

Still, these issues are minor ones. On the whole, the PS5 upgrade for Final Fantasy 7 Remake elevates an already phenomenal, beautiful game, making it easier to play and more beautiful to behold. If you've been holding back on checking out FF7R up to now, the PS5 version is the superior way to experience it--and you absolutely should.

Having successfully crosstraded for a 6700xt while sweating every minute of it (actually lying awake hoping my 5700xt worked fine in the other guys hands - silly but true, huge swing to lose a $800 card and be looking to buy a new one these days!), bought a shady 6800, puckered up hard buying two 3080's for family and friends, working with boss @Aikouka here to get a Series X and panic buying a PS5 when I could add it to my cart by some miracle...

The PS5 was by far the easiest buy of all the things I've wanted but were "hard" to get because I was in the right place at the right time.

Not to mention getting hammered on my business where I import by the container load from Asia with massive delays and a tripling of freight costs, to the point of my rep just saying he'll know what it costs when he sends the invoice. What the actual crap?!?

This isn't a Sony thing. This is a 2021 thing. Try buying a car with specific options, or heck a used car. Or house. Or boat. Or bike.

It all takes work right now that it didn't in the past. And more puckering as you pray things work out in your favor.

It's *all* messed up right now. As convoluted as our supply chain is I am happy that it is working at all.

Meh Wii was a real pain to get for like a year at least. Switch was hard to get the first few months if you didn't buy the first week unless you were willing to buy a bunch of extra crap in Gamestop bundles. And some of those bundles were buy a few of these garbage figurines we can't sell, oh and pay full price for them. If you're willing to buy the Gamestop bundles though PS5 is a lot easier to get, those things seem to last 15-30 minutes when they're put up for sale. You might have to buy a crap game like Marvel Avengers or NBA 2k21 and the other stuff they bundle in is like an extra controller, a PS Plus membership, and a Gamestop giftcard if I remember right. Though they had one pretty good bundle with Demons Souls and Miles Morales Ultimate that I might have jumped on had I not gotten a PS5 by itself for MSRP already.

I think they have to keep these online right now because otherwise they'll have fights, stabbings, shootings in store with people trying to get them if they sold them in person. Sucks but I wouldn't want that crap in my store if I was Walmart either.

Target stopped selling Pokemon cards after a gunfight in the parking lot between three men? I mean, it's gotten ludicrous.

I got my series x by using the Walmart app randomly to check their stock. They didn't have them in shelves of course.

I figured let me stop by and see if they actually have them. They weren't supposed to sell them in person but I asked and the guy did so the app was correct about stock.

I told my sister about this a week later. She went to do the same thing and there was a big line, an argument/fight broke out and police were called.

After that I think they stopped updating stock on their WalMart app lol.

I got a ps5 through the GameStop bundles. I dunno how I lucked out because a friend of mine has tried on gamestop for a while but he can't get the add to cart button to work in time.

Gamespot just gave FFVIIR on PS5 a 10/10 review. Might have to play that one before Rift Apart since it comes out a day earlier and I already have a PS4 disc of the game eligible for the free PS5 upgrade. And I just finished my current game (Castlevania SoTN) last night.
