After not having played any souls like games for a while I'm looking forward to Khazan. Can't believe people are still obsessed with Bloodborne lol. I dunno what it is but I played it on PS3 I just don't understand why it doesn't grab me like some of the other titles like nioh/sekiro and other soil type games.

After playing through the game several times, I can see why people are still obsessed with this title.

Had I known how much I'd throughly enjoy Bloodborne, I'd have probably picked up a PS5 much sooner. In my view, buying the PS5 just to play this game is worth every penny.

The combat is amazing and really fits my style of play. The quick moving and left hand gun parry is just so fluid during combat. I like the speed of the game, which seems much faster than ER. FromSoft really is amazing on how high quality their games are--all of them. For me, this game play was so fun, the 30 fps lock and dated graphics had no bearing on my enjoyment. It was fine. Of course, I'd love a remaster, but doubt will see it.

I'm just perplexed why Bloodborne only sold 7 million copies while ER minted an astonishing 25 million. All things being equal, ER is likely a more refined and better game, but, for my style, Sekiro's and Bloodborne's fighting mechanics fit my playing style much more.

Consider me a proud member of the obsessed Bloodborne cult. IMHO, this has to be one of the greatest games every made, especially when combined with the plot and fighting mechanics. Just amazing.

It's not perplexing at all.

First, Bloodborne was a Sony exclusive whereas Elden Ring is multiplatform.

Second, FromSoft has gotten more and more hype with each successive game, since they have yet to release a bad Soulsborne game.

Third, Elden Ring's open world makes it easier for people who are...less good at Soulsbornes to play since they don't have to slam their heads against the same fight over and over. They can just explore somewhere else.

As for me, Bloodborne is below Elden Ring and Dark Souls 1-3. It's too short and too easy and was generally less interesting to explore.

Ghost of Yotei now has a release date - October 2nd.

That's a long wait! At least now, I can play Sony exclusives on day one!

By the way, I do agree that Bloodborne is a little on the short side. Upon finishing the game, I was really longing for more, which may explain the outcries for a sequel. However, at only 7 million copies sold, I don't think it's worth it for Sony.

As to the difficulty, aside from two fights, the Cainhurst Hunter and Ebrietas, most of the game was pretty standard for me. I don't think it had taken me more than 5 tries for any boss, except for the aforementioned two. The Cainhurst hunter took me many tries to figure out the strategy for me, whereas Ebrietas, in my view, is very weapon dependent. With Ludwig's, I could just use the L1 overhead chop and just slaughter her with little fanfare. With a skill play through and shorter weapons, it was quite a challenge.

As to the relative lackluster Bloodborne units sold numbers, I just had expected the overwhelming majority of those who enjoyed ER would likely enjoy Bloodborne. I'm still surprised it only sold 7 million copies, whereas even the ER DLC minted 5 million on day one.

Now, if you guys can believe it, I've yet to play Red Dead Redemption 2. I picked up on sale on both Steam and PS, any suggestions on which would be better? Generally, on shooting type games, I've always prefer the keyboard and mouse, but given the length of this game, I'd much rather play it on the couch in front of the big TV.

How's the aiming mechanics on the PS controller? Is it ok or would I be much better off on the K&M?

Thanks!

Did you do the Chalice Dungeons? Or the DLC?

Yes, did both.

With the Chalice Dungeons, I only focused on what was necessary to reach the ending. In other words, I skipped the root & special chalices and bypassed the Hinterlands altogether.

The DLC boss fights were pretty easy, at least for my play style. Orphan of Kos on my first try with the Rakyuo, and I think the Hamlet village gave me more trouble than the bosses on my first go through. Those big sharks swinging anchors took some getting used to.

I've heard so much about Lady Maria, but defeated her with parries pretty easily. For the DLC, for my playing style (skill based with Mercy Blade or Cane), Lawrence gave me the most trouble. It had taken me almost 10 tries, exhausted my blood vials, and had to use fire paper switching to the cane's whip to keep distance.

As per my first play through, no summons and all solo. Also, gone through with Ludwig's with a quality build and found most fights easier. However, I just prefer the "Dex" play style.

By the way, Bloodtinge is really fun with the guns! I had no idea you can just demolish stuff with the Evelyn and Repeating Pistol.

Jesus, Kos on the first try? Took me about 60 lol.

It's only because Kos fits into my play style. After Sekiro, LoP and ER DLC, it wasn't anything I haven't encountered. The speed and erratic movements were similar to Sekiro's Ape, and I had enough practice.

Also, the lesson from my Margit days. Just dodge into an enemy, slash and strafe, and just repeat. For Blooborne, the Rakyuo (power combo trick weapon mode) and Blade of Mercy just seems to work very well.

Also, I parried him too on a different play through, and probably easier and less effort with parry. The parry mechanic in Bloodborne is probably the easiest and most natural out of the Souls borne games I've played.

Oh, there was an electric beast in the Chalice's that gave me lots of trouble. The thing kept jumping around and dashing backwards making it very heard to hit,

People talk about how hard Orphan is, but I don't think I died 10 times doing the entire DLC, bosses and environment included.

Now, the Defiled Amygdala? That was a legitimately hard boss, and way harder than anything else in Bloodborne.

Curious what you guys would think of Maluca, a boss in Khazan which has given many a hard time. Took me a couple of days to get him down.

I thought that one was easy lol. No one can ever agree on Bloodborne bosses. Literally Maria and Kos were the only bosses I had trouble with including Chalice Dungeons.

I'm specifically talking about Defiled from a defiled chalice. The one in the main game is easy.

I don't understand how it can be easy for anyone, unless your build was drastically different from mine. I was one-shot by nearly every attack, which made learning the boss an exercise in frustration. And the main game Amygdala was such a pushover that it didn't have to be learned.

Only thing I had trouble with at first was the laser attack. Otherwise didn't find it too hard to dodge plus you could bait jumps by getting in close if I remember right.
