I also got warped to some area that seems to be part of the late game. I managed to kill an enemy and get a drop for weapon upgrading that's a tier 5 item when I'm still using tier 2 items to upgrade my weapon. It was kind of fun just trying to figure out how to escape and in doing so I learned you could dodge roll evade magic, so it wasn't a completely bad experience either.
Ah Caelid, that was a brutal area to get warped into without any warning in the early game. It's more like midgame than late game though. I actually played through there before going north to face Margit in my first playthrough lol and it was hard AF. South from the beginning is by far the easiest part of the game if you're having trouble going north or east.

There's still some bosses I've encountered that I haven't cleared, but I've figured out that the game doesn't expect you to be able to beat everything right away and that it's perfectly fine putting something in your way that is better fought later. I'm assuming skilled players can beat them from the start of the game, but I'm not there yet.

Nah don't assume that. I played Elden Ring after having put a ton of hours into beating Bloodborne, Dark Souls, Demons Souls, Nioh, and Sekiro and got cocky and thought I'll just fight everyone in Elden Ring right away. Got to the Tree Sentinel right at the beginning of the game and could only get him down to 1/3 of his health bar on my best attempts right after taking the elevator up into the open world and finally decided to save him for later after dying about 30 times lol.

RE: GTA6

Ok, I've never had an interest in GTA before, but after playing RD2, I just may give it try.

Rockstar has major street cred with me after my RD2 experience. I've got to say, RD2 has got to be one of the greatest and most immersive gaming experiences of all time. I can see why many call it the "greatest game ever made." Though, IMHO, I'd still give the nod to ER, one can't really argue with RD2's greatness. It's just a sublime gaming experience, especially for those of us who had grown up watching all those gunslinging westerns.

If GTA6 will be anything like this, I'm all in this time.

I can appreciate why other gaming studios are a little concerned about the GTA launch. I mean, games like ER & RD2 completely dominate a players' gaming time for months; ER, in my case, consumed me for over a year. When I'm consumed with these games, there's just no compulsion to play anything else.

Can't believe it's taken me this long to play finally play one of the greatest games of any era.
GTA V is pretty great. I especially love that one of the characters you get to play is a total psycho who acts the way most GTA players play the games. It has a fun story. Not as serious as RDR2 but we're talking a game so good it made $1 billion in sales within 3 days of launch in 2013. I think the graphics still really hold up and it ran 1080p60 flawlessly on my old Xeon E3-1231v3 + GTX 970 + 16GB DDR3-2400 system from 2014. If you can stand the PS2 graphics GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas are pretty legendary too. Hated GTA IV though. Vice City you play as a Cosa Nostra member exiled to Miami (same place GTA VI takes place) while in San Andreas you play as basically a Blood from Compton. IV you play as a Russian immigrant in NYC who whines about wanting to be a good person right after murdering 50 people with a Mac-10, it's kind of ridiculous. GTA III was great for its time (2001) but has aged pretty badly compared to Vice City and San Andreas.

Anyways GTA V is funny how demented it can get. For example:

Also the game looks a lot better than in this clip on even ten year old hardware much less modern hardware. This clip was taken from the PS3 version of the game.

Speaking of GTA V, always found it hilarious that the guy who plays Franklin in the game beat Ice Cube's ass and robbed him. Then he gave Cube's chain to Cypress Hill to show off at a concert they were doing at the House of Blues when Cypress Hill was beefing with Cube after he stole their hook from their song Throw Your Set to make the song Friday.

You may not like it but it was technically amazing for 2013 and has remained a consistent seller for 12 years now while also having a story a lot of people enjoyed. For someone who enjoyed RDR2 I think it's highly worth giving a shot and it's not too expensive these days anyways.

You may not like it but a game's quality is not indicated by its first 3 days of sales. There simply isn't time to establish that regardless of the game. I'd say the same thing if we were talking about Elden Ring or Dark Souls 3, my two favorite From games.

Irrelevant to the point being made, but let's address that point separately.

Is Avatar the greatest film of all time?
Strawman, no one is saying GTA V is the greatest game all time. And while I personally don't like Avatar I know a lot of people who love it. It didn't print money because it sucked.

You said a game's earnings prove its greatness. Avatar made more money than any other film in history. Ergo, by your logic, it must be the greatest. There is no strawman here, just your own flawed logic.

I never said it was the greatest game ever. If reviews, trailers, and word of mouth are good enough to get people to rush out and buy the game full price to the tune of $1 billion in sales the opening weekend odds are it's a pretty great game. And I was posting to someone who is a Rockstar fan after playing RDR2, it's not like I was evangelizing the game to someone who I don't think would have interest in it.

Or it could be that people are actually interested in seeing it.

It's just like how I couldn't care less about the next Avengers movie or the new Superman movie coming out, but I know other people will and they are going to do well.

Just because I have no interest in it doesn't mean millions of people won't.

I guess if you consider reviews marketing. Word of mouth is always big for games success too and it was no different with GTA V when all my friends were raving about it after playing it.

Pretty easy to see why GTA is overall super popular.

GTA's open-world cities are not just large, but feel alive and interesting, with something happening every few minutes. Unlike games like just cause which have large but sparsely populated maps, GTA creates vibrant, dense environments, making exploration rewarding. Red dead follows the same approach with exploration and random encounters keeping things interesting.

It's been around since 1997, consistently evolving with each new title. Each installment has managed to improve on the previous one, offering more depth in terms of story, gameplay, and world-building.

The franchise blends driving, third-person shooting, and storytelling in ways that few other games match. Each release refines these elements, making them more accessible and enjoyable and Rockstar does it properly where it doesn't have jankiness.

While it doesn't have the best story ever it has compelling characters, and dark humor, which set it apart from other games. This narrative richness keeps players engaged beyond simple gameplay mechanics.

Rockstar prefers to create fictional cities based on real-world counterparts, giving them more creative freedom. For instance, Liberty City is inspired by New York but has its own unique flavor and depth, which makes it feel like a character in the story. Looks like VI might be in Florida which should be fun adding in all the cultural references over the past couple years.

Online has become a massive success, continuously evolving with new content, which keeps players invested in the game long after they've completed the single-player story. I was never big on online but got sucked in with the heists and had a group that consistently would login every week to do a few, each playing out differently each time.

The series has always managed to reflect and respond to societal trends, making its themes feel current and engaging. The mature, often satirical tones of the stories resonate with a wide audience.

Rockstar's ties with the film and music industries have helped them secure great voice acting talent, licensed music, and cinematic quality production values, which enhance the overall experience.

Clearly after all the success they have the biggest budget for this next game and they seem to be the only ones to get the whole mix right each time.

And it's absolutely fine to not like the game for whatever reason. We all like different things.

I never understood why so many love final fantasy games. I tried it, thought it was ok but not really my type of game; to me it's cheesy and I'm not overall big on the fantasy world setting in many games.
