When one person starts to lag instead of letting the other players continue along normally they throttle everyones connection so everyone slows down like the lagger. I'll have to figure out where I read that though.

Don't quote me on this because I might be pulling an Andy Pettite and be misremembering.

Well, any fighting game would have to be like that. Its not like an FPS where they can get away with a little prediction and what not because everyone is far away shooting bullets at each other. Everything needs to be perfectly synchronized for a fighter, so the weakest link will determine the speed for everyone.

I've had some nearly lag free games, but most have still had enough to bug me.

im up to about 70% on the subspace emissary, its pretty neat. the cutscenes are good and quite entertaining. most of SSBB's intro movie shows scenes are from the subspace emissary.

I'm about 30% of the way through, and the entire mode is getting a teensy bit tiresome. They need fewer platforming / puzzle stages and more boss fights.

OTOH, it's hard to deny that the core gameplay is quite addictive, and they do a reasonably good job with the (completely insane) story. So, blah blah, I'll keep on doing subspace emissary mode until I've hit 100%.

What is the problem?

I can't copy my save games. I'm about to house sit for a friend, and just wanted to bring the save game over since I don't want to bring the wii. That and it'd just be simpler to unlock the characters once, and bring it over to play. It's not like we all didn't buy SSBB. sigh. I have another friend who isn't quite as avid in unlocking everything either.. I was going to bring my save game there too so we could play with more characters.

The same goes for Rayman Raving Rabbids 2, and apparently elebits as well. It just seems ridiculous to lock these things down

How else will you unlock Sonic?

So they tie the saved game to the console? That is lame. What happens if you need to buy a new console? All your saved games are gone?

There is a way to unlock all characters in about 1.5 hours, but it is very boring and repetitive. Go into group, select special brawl, turn on stamina and poison flower(maybe just called flower in that menu). Have your opponent start with 1 hp. Now do a match, since it is on poison, you all drain health, with the enemy at 1hp, the match ends in less than a second. Do this 450 times to get all characters and some stages.

You can unlock all the characters under 2 hours.
1. Go to special brawl
2. change to stamina and then during character selection change stamina to 1
3. Turn flowers on.
4. Press start repeatedly

Pretty much. I could never get an answer from RRR2, but it didn't matter too much. Elebits was annoying too, I just wanted to show the game a little w/o having to go through the intro.

But SSBB... I have a couple of friends who have Wiis and I'm the one who would play the most. Not sure where at nintendo we could get a straight answer about that.

This game reminds me of Guardian Heroes. Except, instead of 4 players, you had 8. I really loved and miss that game. It was light years ahead of its time.

Picked it up today, pretty cool. I played but never owned any of the previous versions, seems very similar. The huge amount of characters and levels alone, plus online play makes it well worth it. Looks great too in 16:9 using component cables on a 50" DLP

I hate waiting for the FAQs to be updated. There's so much to this game but I'm having a hard time learning some of the details.

Some questions off the top of my head:
1. How many total trophies are there? I'm nearing 150 after 15 hours so I'm figuring there are probably more than 500 if I'm collecting them this fast.
2. What are the effects of the items that you grab during a battle and show up next to your character picture at the bottom of the screen? I believe there are three items like that.
3. When playing the Subspace Emissary mode, sometimes when I complete a level a flag shows up and other times the defeated level appears to resemble a blinking explosion. Does this mean I missed some possible trophies or stickers?
4. Why does it seem like if I can only select the difficulty level for the Subspace Emissary mode when I first start up the mode but then it resets to a lower difficulty without telling me? It seems like whenever I use a continue the difficulty level resets to "Normal" instead of "Hard". OK, I understand why it would do that for the rest of THAT level. But shouldn't subsequent levels go back to my original difficulty setting? Why must I exit the mode to re-choose "Hard"? This has been a major annoyance so far, I'm hoping that I just missed an option somewhere.

2) the items are the parts of the dragoon, when you get all three, you hop offscreen and have to aim at someone else and fire for an instant kill.
3) Flag means you did not find all the secrets in a level (like the little gold boxes with trophies and such in them). The other icon is supposed to be a crown and it means 100% complete.

Ah, many thanks. I had the purpose of the flag and the crown (that I thought looked like a "blinking explosion" ) completely backwards. So I would have been going through levels I've already cleared looking for more secrets.

Keep in mind there are some levels youre not going to be able to "complete" until after youve beaten the SSE and go back to it.

hrm, that's interesting. That would be really annoying to sit there trying to find everything but not realize you have to beat the game first...

and I too thought flags were "completed" and the crown was "unfinished" heh

My friend and I wanted to play online together (same console) only to find that it's not possible. WTF?

Yes, I know it can be done through the friend matches, but why the fuck not random brawl matches?

SSBB online is a sour disappointment. Also, no one can beat me as Ike (overpowered?).
