As someone who doesn't have much nostalgia for Nintendo characters nor a fondness for fighting games, I really don't see the big deal with this title. I've played the N64 and Gamecube versions, and they're both OK. Maybe I'm a bit jaded as my friend was really good at the N64 version and always beat my ass, but still, aside from being a decent fighting game with recognizable characters, there isn't much to it.
I think the biggest selling point really comes from all of the people who grew up with these characters and the "oh my god, I get fight Mario vs. Link!" appeal. It's just a giant fan service. I'd like to know if the people who are bored with these characters, such as myself, are interested in this game.
The biggest selling point of this game is the fact that there were no good games to buy for the Wii. now there's ONE game and everyone has to buy it. Then another year of buying no games.
And I'm sure when the next big game comes along (of which wii has had many), I'nm sure you'll be right there to say in ignorance "the wii finally has a single good game", and so on, ad nauseum.
Theres three great consoles out there, all with their exclusive and unique reasons to buy each, and instead of being happy about the situation, people seem to find more comfort in shitting on the systems they don't own instead of joining in on the fun.
