2. This guy at work told me he wouldn't watch it because its brand new characters meaning that he thought that I - III happened AFTER IV - VI. When I told him that I - III happened BEFORE IV - VI, he was dumfounded! I was thinking to myself DUUUUHH!! When I started to explain it further, he then just told me he didn't want to watch it because he "grew up" back in the 80's. and left my desk. LOL What a cop out!

LOL - sounds like he pwned you.

Fact is, it's hard for some people to understand that sometimes other people just aren't into the same things as you.

Most people, even if they've seen Star Wars, probably didn't remember that Darth Vader's name was Anakin Skywalker. They probably didn't research the new movies coming out, and probably don't care.

People aren't stupid because they don't automatically know that the new movies are prequels.

WTF. This movie pissed me off in a way. It was freaking awesome and it made me wonder why Lucas had to make the two previous POS movies that were completely unnecessary. I still haven't put my finger on why it is better other than to say that perhaps it is because it directly ties to four and seems a lot more necessary than the majority of the content in the first two posquels.

You may be right, however i would think that seeing that the "new" movies are titled episodes 1 - 3, would indicate to them that they would have to come first . I didn't call the people stupid, just what they said. What really irks me about these people that do care about the movies is that they THINK they know what they are talking about and when you try to tell them the truth, they get all defensive.

Although I liked the first two as well, I think you hit the nail right on the head on why the 3rd one seemed a lot better. The 3rd brought the two trilogies together, eventhough it still did leave some holes.

Why does everybody claim the millenium falcon made an appearance? During this time period the yt-1300 freighter should be one of the most common ships around.

Also, did anybody thing is was completely rediculous and stupid that chewbacca supposedly was pals w/ yoda... I mean come on, don't you think he would have mentioned something when Obi Wan busts out his lightsaber in ANH or at some other point during 4-6?

I got the impression Yoda was buddies with the Wookies in general, not specifically Chewbacca.

What would he have mentioned?

"WAAAAAARRRRHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAHHRHRHR"

All of that happened 20 years before ANH, so I'm sure he remembered the events in general, but maybe his memories were vague (?) I don't think he ever had a scene with Yoda in 4-6. Maybe it was a 'past' life that he didn't want to remember.

Uh, you don't need wings in space. They are useless in a vacuum. They would only be useful in the atmosphere. So unless he had thrust vectoring on the edge of his wings it wouldn't matter.

welllll meester smarty pants! Yoda specifically says that he'll miss chewbacca when he gets in his lil ship and he could have roared at Han and said "hey, there was this lil green jedi master dude that i knew once" but maybe the wookies had no idea about the force?

that's reasonable... I still think lucas should have just left that whole thing out though...

Maybe in book 7 of the Jedi Principle Chronicles Chewbacca was hit by a phalum rock and had his long term memory erased.

And for the same reason, those funny little droids that were attacking his wings shouldn't have flown off like they did when Anakin nudged them with his wing, they should have gone up and away but maintained their forward velocity.

haha maybe in book eleventy billion of the Dark Sith Takes a Dump series George Lucas inserts himself into star wars as a monkey who is just too curious about his surroundings and is followed around by a guy in yellow clothes.

I just read the entire thread.

I have a quick question for anyone - how do the Sith come up with their names? ie. Vader? Sidious? Is it just whatever sounds good? Palpatine / Sid seems to think for half a second before he names Darth Vader - is he soul-searching the dark side or is it a pre-determined name? Thanks.

They all just seem to be ominous names. Sidious, Maul, Plagueis, Vader. Can't imagine like Darth Dooku, good thing he goes by Darth Tyrannus.

"Darth Vader Strikes Back"

There's going to be an extra scene included in the DVD release
of EMPIRE STRIKES BACK coming up next year! Basically, it
expands on the scene where Vader reveals his fatherhood to
Luke, and ties up some loose ends created with the release of
Episode 1 & 2...

A furious lightsaber duel is underway. DARTH VADER is backing
LUKE SKYWALKER towards the end of the gantry. A quick move by
Vader, chops off Luke's hand! It goes spinning off into the
ventilation shaft. Luke backs away. He looks around, but
realizes there's nowhere to go but straight down.

Darth Vader: Obi Wan never told you what happened to your
father.

Luke: He told me enough! He told me you killed him!

Darth Vader: No... I am your father!

Luke: No, it's not true! It's impossible.

Darth Vader: Search your feelings... you know it to be true.

Luke: NO!

Darth Vader: Yes, it is true, and you know what else? You
know that brass droid of yours?

Luke: Threepio?

Darth Vader: Yes... Threepio... I built him... when I was
7 years old...

Luke: No...!

Darth Vader: Seven years old! And what have you done? Look at
yourself, no hand, no job, and couldn't even levitate your
own ship out of the swamp.

Luke: I destroyed your precious Death Star!

Darth Vader: When you were 20! When I was 10, I single-
handedly destroyed a Trade Federation Droid Control ship!

Luke: Well, it's not my fault...

Darth Vader: Oh, here we go... "Poor me... my father never
gave me what I wanted for my birthday... boo hoo, my daddy's
the Dark Lord of the Sith...waahhh wahhh!"

Luke: Shut up...

Darth Vader: You're a slacker! By the time I was your age, I
had exterminated the Jedi knights!

Luke: I used to race my T-16 through Beggar's Canyon.

Darth Vader: Oh, for the love of the Emperor... 10 years old,
winner of the Boonta Eve Open... Only human to ever fly a Pod
Racer... right here, baby!

{Luke looks down the shaft. Takes a step towards it.}

Darth Vader: I was wrong... You're not my kid... I don't know
whose son you are, but you sure ain't mine...

{Luke takes a step off the platform, hesitates, then plunges
down the shaft.}

{Darth Vader looks after him.}

Darth Vader: Get a haircut!

i was thinking this could be cool, but will never happen. film an introduction to episode IV, maybe ~30 minutes... if i recall from XWing or TIE Fighter they show the transmisisons of the plans for the ds, do a whole sequence like that. i thought epiii would end with that... a whole sequence with the tantive iv captain antilles, c3p0 etc.... and vader on the star destroyer... it'd have to be done w/o leia, but i bet it could be done and would be a pretty ridiculous intro

i just wish they worked vader in the suit more :-\

Those are solar panels not wings. Don't you know anything about Tie Fighter technology? GOSH!

I saw Episode III today and it was pretty good. I'm glad that Jar Jar (I know, the character we all love to hate) was only in it for less than 3 seconds.

Didn't Kyle Kataarn steal the death star plans in the original dark forces game? I haven't played it in years so I can't remember

What if the ships were accelerating or turning? Who knows, maybe they were fighting as they were in orbit...well no, that wouldn't really matter.

BTW, why even have those droids, if they can deliver them successfully, why not just deliver explosives? They could have killed Obi right there!
